Speaking of the bank, I noticed that my second 3DS has the bank app but not the transfer one for Gen 5 games. Am I fucked? I also have that Dream Game that lets you get extra stuff in Black/White 2 but they're both on another 3DS, would sure love to transfer both of them over without jaibreaking my 3DS

as long as you have Bank you can download Transporter as far as I’m aware.

Well I just beat Lacey, Crispin, and Amarys recently. My team did okay when facing Lacey but Crispin was a breeze.
Lacey kind of caught me by surprise and I only won because Orthworm clutched a win thanks to Terastallizing into a Water-type and landing a OHKO on her Fairy Tera Type Excadrill. Murkrow didn't really perform as well as I'd liked it to, I think that was in part due to it being the wrong battle for it but it did help in stalling her Whimsicott. Another issue I had was me failing to use an Ability Patch on my Cyclizar, leaving it stuck with Shed Skin, before starting The Indigo Disk. Thankfully that was something I could easily fix after the match.

Crispin was easier thanks to me correcting a mistake with Cyclizar and using it in a combination with Orthworm, essentially letting it set up two incoming Pokémon with a substitute. After that it was just being smart with Gliscor, Glimmora, and Tyranitar.

I had to fight Amarys twice due to my game glitching out but the results were similar: Murkrow proved to be really helpful thanks to packing a Prankster-boosted Taunt and going with the bulkier Eviolite-supported build made it tanks some moves that would OHKO other Pokémon and Chandelure still takes names. The only difference was how the matches progressed (the first match had Chandelure sweep a good portion of Amarys' team with a defensive Tera Grass Type and some well-placed moves while the second had Gliscor tanking a good amount of hits and dish out some serious damage in return) and how it ended (the first match had Sandy Shocks OHKOing a Tera Steel Type Metagross with a critical, Expert Belt-boosted Earth Power and the second one had Gliscor's Earthquake put Metagross in the red with Murkrow dealing a KO via Foul Play).
Drayton's listed as a Dragon-type Trainer so I'm assuming he's a more offensive team but I'm honestly more worried about the Gym Trial.

Given Kieran's behavior in the ID I can only assume he'll run a bunch of top-tier VGC Pokémon with Hydrapple thrown in for theming.
Oh, and my current Shiny count has been boosted by two. I caught a Shiny Comfey (a Pokémon I actually wanted to hunt, built a Sparkling Power Lv. 3 sandwich for, and failed to catch with said sandwich's power) and another Shiny Milcery from an event Outbreak.

It appears that Starters can appear in the Mass Outbreaks found in the Terarium when you unlock them, one of the daily Outbreaks that showed up in my game one of 'em was a Litten Outbreak.

And in my quest to thin out said Outbreak, I found a Shiny Alolan Graveler.

Nothing is ever going to be HGSS quality from Gamefreak ever again. Hell, we haven't even seen Battle Frontier since that game and even then, it had to be insisted by the director to be put in as other members of staff thought it was "too much work and a waste of time"
Even ORAS like quality is a pipe dream. That game at least had soul and thought put into it, something no recent game(aside from the Arceus one, maybe) had

Honestly, with the pedestal some people have put Gen 5 on, I'd be more amused if it was somehow worse off on a technical level than S/V. You just know some jackass is trying to convince them that they can convert the glorified Hallways of Unova into an Open World with no issues.

Serious question - how the fuck do the spin off games seem to be more competently made than the main line games?

All the games had thought and soul put into them.

But we are talking bout remakes. The only time they screwed up a remake was when they gave it to someone else. And i’d argue considering they did that while doing Arceus themselves that we only got direct Gen 4 remakes out of a sense of obligation. And their actual plan for a ‘remake’ was the Legends game itself.
 
Anyone ever play the pokemon unbound romhack? I haven't played any pokemon games since gen 2, I haven't really had much interest in pokemon it hurts my brain too much, but I've been playing through unbound and it's actually been a lot of fun so far. The combat on the difficult setting is pretty great. It reminds me of an old final fantasy game challenge wise, I remember pokemon always being pretty easy, unbound has definitely been a lot better in the challenge department.

Why would you think that? The only time we got a remake that wasn’t that level was when it was outsourced to another company while GF worked on a game that’s loved by the community and remakes all the best aspects of Gen 4. Which considering everybody said it would be terrible, like the worst thing ever, is hilarious

The only way we aren’t doing I feel is if GF despite the clusterfuck with BDSP outsource again but I like to think the community has learnt to stop asking them to do such a retarded thing and that actually when they go off of what we expect we get some of the best game. B2W2/Arceus etc. But it’s the Pokemon community so I am hoping in vein I know.

You make it seem like the games weren’t running on a shoe string animation budget from the start. It says nothing of the soul or thought put into the game.

If anything the thing that might say it’s souless is everything seems disconnected from the plot of the story they are telling.

Climate Change in 10000 years is really out there when everyone just wants to be a top level athlete so your left wondering where it’s going only to be hit with ‘huh, but why! That seems like the plot of a different game my dude’

Making Pokemon transferring dependent on an internet connection was a retarded idea and will eventually result in every generation after 5 being disconnected just like gens 2 and 3. They learned nothing from the Global Link.

Which spinoffs? The good quality ones were years ago, most modern spinoffs are mobile garbage and even Mystery Dungeon is showing signs of getting worse.

ORAS was frankly mediocre. The soul started petering out during gen 6, and the thought was gone by USUM.
