What was the audience opinion on Gigantamax Pokémon? From what I heard it was so shit it was outright banned in Competitive play.
I have to remind myself Gigantamax is the more "special" type of Dynamax, and I just think it's retarded for Pokémon. This makes sense for something like Digimon because Digimon are made of
fucking data. The vast majority of Pokémon are supposed to be flesh-and-blood creatures. Mega Evolution has been stated to
hurt the Pokémon, so I don't know how it is Pokémon
also don't get hurt Dynamaxing or even Gigantamaxing where they literally take a different shape for a few turns. Eternatus being the reason behind it still doesn't make sense, I don't even know if they ever truly explained the mysterious cosmic powers of it that allows Pokémon to bloat up to ridiculous sizes. If they were more like holograms as a form of presentation, I think that'd be rather neat given the stadiums and sports theme of Galar, but since they're not, and that only
certain Pokémon can go into Gigantamax (much like Mega Evolutions), it doesn't make sense from a world-building perspective.
Z-Moves were better because at the very least, it's implied to be a natural occurrence in Alola (and perhaps natural in general since Mew has an exclusive Z-Move and yet doesn't have a Mega Evolution, so y'know, Mega can suck my taint). Although waiving them off as "Oh lol that's the Ultra Beasts' doing" really undermines the message of the strong bond between humans and Pokémon coexisting together. You know, the one where a skilled trainer helps to bring out a Pokémon's greatest potential? We're just going to ignore that to say that fucking aliens/interdimensional beings are the ones behind everything and not love? Gag me.
This might be a hot take but I want another asshole rival like Blue or Silver.
This has never been a hot take as far as I can tell. I would love to once more have a rival you just want to beat into the dirt because they couldn't stop running their stupid mouths.
