I got lucky and managed to find another Shiny, this time it was a Hisuian Voltorb via an outbreak. The story would've been a hell of a lot more disappointing we're it not for the save-scumming suggestion that @SteelPlatedHeart suggested, those little bastards are hard to sneak up on without sending them into a frenzy.

Smoke balls, berries, and sneak spray are your friends.

Here's the team I've pulled together so far. I've just finished changing their natures via mints. All that's left to do is to start training their levels, increasing their effort values and mastering their attacks as I go along. Is it necessary to put so much effort into a team like this for a solo game like Legends Arceus? Probably not but I'm having fun anyway.

My strategy was manual save, piss off the Voltorbs into 9/11ing me, and then dodging till my shiny popped. I then threw my Pokemon at the shiny to initiate battle and stop the incessant exlosions.

You gonna evolve the Scyther?

The only nuts-squeezingly challenging fight I've seen is the rematch against Arceus. Knowing that competitive battling won't be in this game has kind of lifted a weight off my shoulders, now that it's sufficient for a 'mon to be Good and not Perfect.

I have bad news for you about that Scyther...

Oh wait, stupid me.

The color threw me off.

So this popped into my feed earlier:

Don't have the game myself, but from what I've read, there's a glitch in the game where if Cherrim changes form, it becomes impossible to catch. You either need to catch one in the rain (because then it won't change form) or just catch and evolve a Cherubi.

Anybody here experienced this?

I’d argue that Legends works because it focuses more on Exploration and Catching Pokémon than anything else,
I'm having more fun going about the lands, catching Pokémon and filling the Dex, finding lost satchels and doing some quests than doing the story. I just do that to get new HM users, lands to explore and find out the end of the story cos I heard it was weird.

I've already had 5 Shiny encounters so far and I don't even have the Shiny Charm yet.
Lucky you. *sigh*
I've not found a single one except the free Ponyta.

Edit: I found myself a shiny Dusclops in an outbreak! :D

They spent SM, Let’s Go and SWSH building up to this game…I don't think they are going to drop it somehow.
Yeah true, but at the same time this is game freak we are talking about here so I understand having some apprehension for this to not be forgotten in the rush for gen 9

It probably not going to be forgotten. We'll probably get 1-2 more solo games like this before something else comes along.

As for Gen 9, they are probably just going to take everything from PLA other than filling out the Pokédex and add the standard gym challenge. Unless they wildly change course all of a sudden. And I don't see that happening.

I don't see them struggling the same with Gen 9 as they did with 8 as they would have already made 3 games on the Switch.

Gen 10 is probably where there will be issues again because Nintendo will have probably retired the Switch by then. So we'll get teething issues again most likely.

I guess that depends on if the legends team communicated their ideas with the gen 9 team and if we are actually getting dlc like riddler puppy shit man said to buy a year of dev time. because if they were making a gen 9 standard SWSH style and had to shift that much gameplay wise it would end up botched like how overworld mons were when carried over from LGPE
I do think that is possible considering alot of the shit from Pikachu Eevee did make the jump to SWSH but I think that if it's coming out this Christmas the game is probably fucked, but again leaker fags are apparently saying it was delayed to 2023 so what do I know

Gen 10 could be fine if their next console is yet another hybrid (which is probably likely since nintendo has done system lines before with their handheld with GB to GBA, DS to 3ds and even consoles for Wii to Wii u), which if thats the case there might be teething visually but we wont have the "every game is so radically different because we are aimless as a franchise" thing they had since LGPE

No way Gen 9 is coming in Christmas.

DLC is an automatic gusrente after SWSH had it. And the Pokemon Company tends to wrap up everything with one gen before moving to the next.

While I never trust leakers on princaple, Riddler man is almost certainly correct based on how GF tends to do stuff.

I don’t see us ever having a system that is not a hybrid system. Everyone does everything on phones and tablets now especially in Japan.

I wasn’t so much talking about the franchise lacking direction, which I’d dispute, but rather the technical issues that seem to take the first game of each console to iron out.

Yeah agreed, riddler in his schizo shit seems to be pretty spot on compared to most leakers out there and I do agree that DLC should be a no brainer considering the positive reception arceus has gotten along with SWSH getting DLC, it would bring alot of good will as well depending on how they handle it. It's just with VGC wrapping up this year as well as the usual need for new merch annually has me naturally adjust my expectations I guess. maybe that shit with VGC will be filled with that website they have for stadium, IDK.

Optimization has been a problem since 3ds, I expect improvements from Legends but not by much
I might have come off abit harsh about the lack of direction thing, but it's more each mainline release has had wildly diffrent priorities
LGPE was a game to try to bring in go fags into mainline, SWSH was compfag central, BDSP was the "traditional remakes" to a fault, and Legends was a shake up. I guess what I am saying is unlike previous games which had a very linear iteration, the switch era has had alot of branching ideas that were one and done/scrapped for a new focus
I remember reading an interview where they viewed lets go as the "home console focused game" and SWSH as the "handheld one" so at the time they really weren't thinking of systems to work as both, with legends I think they have something to fit the hybrid nature of the switch, was informed by systems from the 3 previous series of switch games, and hopefully informs future games' design philosphy

I don’t care what else they do. And there are loads of QoL features i want but i want them to add a way to mine tumbledtone like you csn grow apricornes

Other than that all I want are little icons that tell me where Pokemon i have seen are that I csn toggle on and off. Because remembering exactly where something spawns in a specific section of an area of the map is awful.

Considering that SWSH was a new mainline game and those had been on handhelds previously, I kind of get what they were going for with that remark. Especially when as you say they were trying to tap into the Go audience.
so at the time they really weren't thinking of systems to work as both,
It was probably actually that that stuff was alwsys intended for SWSH but with Go being so huge got to capitalise on that fast. Hence why a lot of the QoL features from LG ended up in SWSH.

One can only hope. PLA has real neat design.

Ingo being in this game makes me happy. Never thought I'd see him get any amount of love.

I love seeing the town change through the side quests, and I wish there was more of that. A second main quest related to helping found and build up the other towns in the region. Collecting Machop to help with construction, ground types to set up farmland, water types or ground types to find a good place to dig a well, and so on. Maybe you'll need to give some people Pokemon of a certain level to escort them to the village, because they don't feel safe going without one.

Maybe they'll add some DLC, or put it in the next game.
So far I have around 33 hours in PLA. I've beaten Kleavor and unlocked Crimson Mirelands, but I haven't explored that area yet, because I'm still focusing on Obsidian Fieldlands. In the older games, my favourite task was completing the Pokédex, so naturally I'm enjoying PLA a lot. I'm hellbent on getting "perfect" status on all dex entries, because I'm a completionist.

What's interesting to me is that while working to obtain "perfect" dex entires, I end up using many different species of Pokémon and I have no fixed team at this (early) point in the game, because party members are coming and going as I need them.

Thank god for the mass-release feature.
When you're working on evolving them, go to the Crimson Mirelands. It's really easy to evolve them there, thanks to the exp sharing.
