All I know if I will be able to catch a Jigglypuff. Not being able to catch a Jigglypuff kept me away from the game.

I just love how Gamefreak has all but forgotten about "Mega" Evolution.

I blame the anime for this, for not letting Ash ever use the concept, despite owning several Pokemon that flat-out deserved to experience such a thing. Charizard, Sceptile and Glalie come to mind.

Not to mention, the completely wrong designation of the term "Mega."

I don't know what is the cause behind them dropping Mega Evolution, but I wonder if it's because it goes against the peaceful co-existence of humans and Pokémon in how Pokémon fight in friendly competition because they have a strong bond with their trainers. Mega Evolution was meant to be the manifestation of this bond, but then they revealed this shit actually hurts the Pokémon. You are causing your Pokémon to hurt themselves and risk them going insane to become a Mega Pokémon. Mega Lucario going berserk in the anime was cool and all, but I think it made them realize "Oh shit, this is too dark, too contradictory to Pokémon's overall message", so they slowly started phasing it out even though competitive game players loved the shit out of this mechanic.

The above is horrifying to me and is why I just can't ever like Mega Evolution, but even before that was revealed, the 16th movie introducing the gimmick without explaining it beforehand killed Mega Evolution for me, personally. Mega Mewtwo Y is just so fucking fugly that you literally couldn't blame people for thinking the 2013 Corocoro leak was Photoshopped. If it was Mega Mewtwo X instead, I think there wouldn't have been as much of a backlash (but it was still a different Mewtwo, so that shitstorm was always going to be the same).

They probably invented that bullshit to give players a reason to not want that gimmick brought back and rationalize why it won't come up again. The real reason is that they don't want to make more models and animations for megas, much less introduce new ones for each generation to add more to their pitiful pile of work. SwShit showed us just how lazy they can be. And yes, Mega Mewtwo Y looks fucking retarded and I have no idea why they chose that piece of shit instead of the X version. Its partly why I said that if they ever bring back Megas as alternate forms or permanent evos, they should just stick with the more well-received designs.

I don't know about that. If that was the case, then they wouldn't have bothered making Giganto-max forms, which is essentially mega evolution in everything but name with z-moves being their moveset.

G-Max was supposed to be 'balanced' by only lasting for three turns, but it's still going to get abandoned next generation. I wouldn't bother getting attached to it.

Eh... there's certainly a case to be made. You'd have to argue if 'making a new model and stat/type/ability set' is more or less work than 'making a new model and a full new move'.

Also, apparently they've got some new moves coming through new tutors. They apparently use something called Armornite Ore to teach you. The Moves are:

Grassy Glide is a priority move only in grassy terrain. It's definitely got some combo potential.

Burning Jealousy really gets my gears turning. Burning Jealousy is a move that hits both opponents, but the real eyecatch is it's side effect - a chance to burn if the target has boosted this turn. I actually quite like that idea.

Slowbro is Psychic/Poison, and has a new move, Shell Side Arm, that hits defence or special defence based on which is weaker. Nice! I think that's similar to an existing one, but I don't know which.

Also, the three bird's Types have been revealed - Psychic/, Fighting/ and Dark/Flying. They each have a signature move, as well:
Freezing Glare is a Psychic Special attack that may leave the target frozen.
Thunderous Kick is a Fighting Physical Attack that may lower the target's defence.
and Fiery Wrath is a Dark Special attack that may cause the target to flinch.
I think it's safe to say they're using these in the battle near the tree.

Shell Side Arm and the two moves I listed above were datamined in Pokemon Home, but the three birds moves were not. This leaves 15 moves unaccounted for after Zarude and Urshifu's moves - most likely being released in the Isle DLC.

The golden soup is apparently Max Soup, which sounds like an alien's poor imitation of a human name. It apparently allows you to make a dynamaxing pokemon Gigantamax.

Lastly, the Vacuum-cleaner Cramorant apparently combines up to four items to make things. Who knows what those things are - Pokeballs and PP Ups are listed, so it's safe to assume other vitamins and balls would be included as well.

Necrozma's Photon Geyser, only that does physical or special damage depending on user's stats and not the target's (going off of whichever is higher).

So this is essentially the 3rd time they've passed up the perfect opportunity to make an Electric/Fighting type. First it was Electivire (learns nearly as many Fighting moves as its own STAB and uses a lot of punching moves in general), then Zeraora (very similar to Electivire plus a signature move called Plasma Fists) and now G-Zapdos who dropped its Electric type yet has a move called Thunderous Kick. I don't get why they're seemingly allergic to that dual typing...
