What's your guys' favorite Pokemon game? It's really hard to narrow it down for me, but I have to go with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. The features for that game (such as the DexNav, Secret Bases, and Contests) are awesome and I'm sad they weren't incorporated into future games.

I think Heart Gold/Soul Silver really has the most solid experience. I don't think any of them are bad, and some have elements I like more, but I think the Gen 2 remakes are in a real sweet spot.

The original Ruby and Sapphire were my first Pokemon games and I love the aesthetic and music. Hoenn also felt like such a great place to explore, there were unique city concepts like Sootopolis City, Fortree City, and Pacifidlog Town that I really liked. I can't really put into words why I like it more than the remakes besides nostalgiafagging.

In terms of awesome features I miss, Heart Gold/Soul Silver has the most. It feels like the dev team really gave their all with the game. Battle Frontier and Safari Zone before both of those were axed forever, the gym leaders doing more than being stationary NPCs (you can find them outside of their gyms at specific times and can call, rematch, or even do a trade with some of them), getting a Kanto and a Hoenn starter after you beat Red, and of course Pokemon following you.

The quality of life for what they did with the touch screen was great and I don't know why they didn't carry it on to other games. The menu is active all the time, the registered button is an item on there, and my favorite part is running being an on/off toggle instead of having to hold the button down. In general I feel like there were so many things to do in HGSS, both new and old, and it was really amazing.

I never understood why people demand good story lines and characters from Pokemon. I don't know anyone who plays the games for that. It's like watching a porno for its plot and acting.
They got spoiled from Gen V's take on PETA.

Toss up between those and X/Y * I know,I know I'll await my floggings * for me.

My favorite games are Crystal and Platinum. Crystal because nostalgia for one of the first pokemon games I played (I didn't have a GB but did have a GBC) and Platinum because it felt like a damn good mix of everything all in one game. The story was good but not annoying, the region was a treat to explore, and the selection of pokemon was excellent; especially when compared to Diamond and Pearl.

I'm not touching these with a 10 foot pole until Nintendo eliminates their Jewish Online service and their pay scam of the Pokemon Bank.

I'm not very impressed anyway. Not much of a leap up from 3DS to Switch; more laziness. Guess the only game to really look forward to is Fire Emblem Three Houses.

Edit: Man, Game Freak has you guys wrapped around their finger. Sad.

Diamond and Pearl are probably my favourites. I loved the Sinnoh region, the fact you could only catch certain Pokemon at specific times and running round the underground with my brother. I really hope the Switch remakes of those games happen.

I also have a soft spot for Ultra Moon because it was the game that got me back into Pokemon. Ruby and Sapphire were my first Pokemon games, but I don’t love them as much as others do. I much preferred ORAS - they were perfect remakes in my opinion.

I’ve never properly played the Johto games and I really want to, but Heart Gold and Soul Silver are so expensive. I could play the originals, but from what I’ve heard the mechanics are very dated now.

May is the typical "magic month" for GF where news of a new generation starts to flow after the initial reveal and drought period. Corocoro magazine should give us at least something of note when it leaks, which should be any day now.

I like pretty much all the games, but Gen 4 is my favorite. Always loved replaying Platinum (even despite how slow that game can be) and Heart Gold/Soul Silver were really good. Recently B/W has grown on me, and I enjoyed Moon. Didn’t like Gen 6 that much though, couldn’t get into it.

I would like Sinnoh a lot more if it wasn't for the assload of HMs (if you don't want to shackle half your team's collective movesets with shitty/redundant moves you need two entire HM slaves just to get anywhere), the general speed issues (Platinum only fixed it so much) and the fact that Diamond/Pearl made it all but impossible to get roughly half the new evolutions of old mons that were introduced. And even then Platinum had some missteps of that ilk such as Murkrow and Misdreavus being absent.

Third versions often lack Pokemon found in the first two games, often at least one version exclusive from each of them alongside many that can be found in both, in order to encourage trading with the older games.

For example, the previous third version, Emerald, was missing the Ruby exclusive Zangoose and the Sapphire Exclusivce Lunatone, and didn't have Meditite/Medicham that could be found in both of them.

Halfway though May and still not a peep. Unless there's an impromptu Direct or something before E3 (even though we just had a Mario Maker 2 one).

Only a minor bit of news, but Trainer Customization was confirmed to return in Sword and Shield, there was a contest to design a real-life Pokemon shirt and the winner was revealed to also be put into the upcoming games

Sadly it was recently discovered that the artist sold phone cases with that design (there were also shirts but those were produced by a Chinese company that stole said design) before he submitted it for the contest, so there's a good chance it might get removed. But this IS Game Freak we're talking about here...

The shirt designer was disqualified, and the shirt will be removed from the game, and they'll just not put any shirt from the contest in Sword and Shield.

Dude ruined it for everyone. Bet pokemon won't be doing something like this again.

They couldn't just pick the second place winner because...?
It was probably already implemented into the game and now that this happened I'd guess they don't want to chance it happening again. This is the only news we've got on the new gen in months and it blew up in companies face in like two days, so I understand wanting to distance themselves.

What gets me is that this was the winner, there was a whole lot of blank space and the print seemed underwhelmingly minimal. It honestly looks like something that can easily be put on a tshirt with one of those iron on print sheets. It isnt a bad design its just one step away from a black shirt.
