I know you're being sarcastic butUhh that can't be right, I was told smogon's fanfic meta was designed to avoid overcentralization, it is physically impossible for the same teams to be used over and over again

And some of us like pokemon not for their usefulness or stats, but because they look cool. Like, I fucking love Xatu and Sigilyph."This Pokémon has bad stats and/or moves."
Wow, good thing most games in the franchise are easy then!
One of my aces in White 1 was a Sigillyph and I liked him so much I transferred him over to Gen 7. He's not much in the competitive environment, but has a very interesting gimmick if you transfer him to a single player game. See, there is so much variety and strategies with moves introduced in Gen 4 and 5, and they just add up in Gen 6 and 7 and you can do some amazing things with even the crappiest of Pokemon if you know what you're doing. Sadly, when they started removing random moves(even fan favorites like Hidden Power and Pursuit) that was no longer possible, and I do not see this talked about nearly as much as with Dexit, as both are arguably just as bad and harmful to the fun factor of the game/it's competitive meta. And some of us like pokemon not for their usefulness or stats, but because they look cool. I love the native aesthetic for Xatu, and I adore the nazca line inspiration on Sigilyph (and its funny lil unown head)!
But they don't have a competitive niche, afaik, and they're kinda mid in the stats dept.
Sigilyph is pretty cool and my go-to flier in the unova gamesAnd some of us like pokemon not for their usefulness or stats, but because they look cool. Like, I fucking love Xatu and Sigilyph.

Sigilyph is pretty based actually. It might not have stats that make it top tier for competitive play, but 103 Sp. Atk and 97 Speed with a Speed boosting Nature is good enough get stuff done in just about any fight, Flying + Magic Guard makes for useful defenses, and it has a movepool so wide that its biggest issue there is literally just that it only has 4 move slots to fit stuff in. I used it in Black 2 for Battle Subway Super Doubles and in the PWT (where I did everything in Doubles) as a lead partner with my Garchomp from Platinum and it was great. And some of us like pokemon not for their usefulness or stats, but because they look cool. Late, but I literally cannot remember a time when I didn't like Pokemon, or not know of its existence. What is the thing that got you in the Pokemon and your favorite Pokemon overall?
Cringed at looking through the comments and so many people exclusively call Chikorita a girl. I actually checked and there's only a bit over a ten percent of it even being a girl.
I had Serperior for my unova starter, and Venusaur is my husband's favorite.
Treeko - Yes absorb sucks, but you should be using bullet seed. Always gamble. Grovyle is fantastic and gets extra browny points for PMD, again Sceptile is... mid design wise.

As for my favorite Pokemon overall, that's Espurr. I grew up on farm with a lot of cats, and the fact that Espurr is essentially a tiny suicide-bomber trapped in the body of a kitten reminds me of a group of cats we had on it that my dad nicknamed "The Taliban" because they were so aggressive, and would often just randomly explode into violence, and start attacking anything near them. Sometimes even inanimate objects like the lawnmower.
Also, because it looks like this.

Funnily enough both of those Pokémon have had decent runs in the TCG: Sigilyph was a popular anti-EX tech back in the late BLW-era and Xatu currently has a print that, at least functionally, has the same Ability as Shadow Rider Calyrex VMAX does and was used as an Energy accelerator in Dragapult ex decks until Crispin was printed. And some of us like pokemon not for their usefulness or stats, but because they look cool. I tried using this thing in the Battle Tree in Gen 7. Not that good, unfortunately, but it does have potential. Never really used it in XY.Late, but I literally cannot remember a time when I didn't like Pokemon, or not know of its existence.

Remember a time when new pocketmons games were good?I've been replaying and finishing Pokemon TCG 2 for GBC, and man, sometimes I forget how kino this game is.
Current cards are so overpowered compared to how it was in the '90s. It's like 1 energy for an attack of 50, and HP commonly far over 120 (120 was the limit and extreme HP).current rules and cards
I've never really played the Pokemon TCG, but I've found it funny how blatant it is with the powercreep. Every TCG suffers from powercreep to some extent, but it's usually more subtle with stuff having better effects for less cost or comboing off each other better, or what have you. With Pokemon it's literally just bigger numbers. Old cards literally can't compete because their numbers are like 1/4 of what modern cards have. It's like the opposite of Yu-Gi-Oh! where Konami has managed to keep numbers about the same since the mid-2000s, but card effects have turned into novels that prevent your opponent from playing the game at all.Current cards are so overpowered compared to how it was in the '90s. My favorite thing about it is how much content you can experience even after postgame, especially the ghost masters (pic related).
I went with the "Do the Wave" Wigglytuff deck for most of my play time, but I also had to switch my deck a few times to counter some opponents, which is something that I feel a lot of "TCG videogames" don't do. Kinda wish we had another Pokemon TCG RPG... but then again, having another entry with the current rules and cards would be very(and being real, TPC would probably release it in an unplayable state anyways like SV)
Soundtrack is still very high quality like TCG 1, so that's also nice.

Wo-Chien
the shittiest member of the quartet
To be fair, for a long time on the English side of the TCG the dominant deck was based on Pokemon like hitmonchan that were basic but able to be efficient damage dealers. It wasn’t until slowing was released with that mistranslation that the deck finally got knocked out.Staryu in Base Set:
40 HP,Slap 20
Staryu in "Paldean Fates":
60 HP,Swift 30 (always works, no Weakness and Resistance effect).
