One of the best things the manga adaptation did was have the story treat her like a villain and have her get FUG'd.
How the fuck she survives this?

So, for a total casual who dont care about itens, iv, competitite stuff and just want to complete the pokedex, which game you guys reccomend? hgss? platinum? bw?

Red/Blue/Yellow

The IV/Competitive autism began around Gold/Silver/Crystal when breeding came into the picture, but really didn't blow up until Ruby/Saphire/Emerald when the entire Stat/IV system got revamped. It's essentially the same system that is used to this day with the newer games.

Red/Blue/Yellow's stat system was so broken, there was no upper limit with a point system. Each stat had a 65,535 point roof that you could max out just by winning battles, even if you used all the vitamins. So even if you're not into competitive battling, you'll eventually get a maxed out strong pokemon regardless.

If you want to make completing the pokedex tough but rewarding, I'll recommend all of gen 3

It's built in such a way that every single game in the generation helps contribute by being borderline mandatory for a full pokedex in RSE. RSE has the entire Hoenn dex and a lot of Kanto, FRLG fills in the missing Kanto spots and adds some Johto in the postgame, and Colosseum/XD fill in the blanks for what little is left. It's a great way to go through the generation and helps the entire thing feel very cohesive. Even though it is fucking evil lmao. I cannot imagine how much this must have pissed off parents back in the day.

Additionally, since it's only a little under 400 Pokémon and a whole lot of them have relatively interesting methods of capture instead of generation 8-9's "oh find them in raids" or "oh they're wandering around somewhere out there", the dex hits a nice sweet spot between "stupidly hard to achieve" and "satisfying to complete." I know I start tuning out when the dex gets higher than 500, anyways, and I've only ever gotten very close to completing Alpha Sapphire's national dex as a result, but I personally find gen 3 to be a pretty rewarding way of doing things and would recommend it any day.

If you just want a quick run-through of a pokedex you only need both versions or glitches for, though, I'll back Celebrate Nite and offer gen 1. Generation 5 gets close, but the addition of 4 entire generations in the postgame for the rest of the dex makes it a bit hard to recommend in the same way. I will warn you, though, that RBY haven't aged very well and are a bit of a pain to play. They'll be especially hard to tolerate if you started the series in generation 4 or later, but tough no matter what unless you've got really heavy nostalgia goggles for them.

Okay. It's been six gorillion days since 4chins went out for milk, and I'm starting to tremble like an alcoholic from /vp/ withdrawal. So I will now proceed to dump my inane blogposting onto you poor fuckers because it's going to eat a hole in my brain if I don't.
  • I'm currently making a livingdex in Platinum. My only major roadblocks are Kyogre and Rayquaza because I don't own any gen 3 games or HeartGold (yet), but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Solrock is currently the bane of my existence, though, because it's a GBA insert exclusive in DPPt and a 30-day Safari Zone wait in SS. That shit is pain and suffering because I'm too lazy to time travel, but everything else is going fine so far.
  • On a similar note, I've been playing around with RNG manipulation in gen 4 recently and it's extremely fun. Highly recommend for my fellow autists.
  • I pulled two Arceus immersives from Pocket like one right after the other and I'm mad as fuck about it because all I want is full art Adaman but no dice. But I play super casually (f2p btw) so I suppose I've got no room to bitch about it.
  • The JP Pokémon Center (probably the US one too) is very very bad at estimating how much product to stock. They send out emails every so often advertising stuff that's ALREADY SOLD OUT.
  • As a middle finger to the previous point, I found an older plush of my favorite Pokémon for sale secondhand the other day and am now the proud owner of it.
Thank you. Good night.

Platinum.

If you battle every NPC trainer, you'll actually be able to fill up the national dex without once needing to trade since completing it only counts Pokemon seen, not Pokemon caught (you will have to capture/evolve the difference, but it's not demanding).

Mario-2.webp

Completed Mariomon today. I think it's been over a year since I last completed any Pokémon game or romhack. Definitely one my favourites but it had a big team behind it, so not surprising. I think I'm going to complete the dex because I enjoy the game enough.

I also played Platinum when I was a kid, through I think I stopped around the time I got to the last gym. If I can find a good emulator for mobile, gonna try it.

You know, seeing TerminalMontage getting a tallented VA to voice Volo in a parody video makes me wish even more Pokemon had Voice Acting.

In one hand, it could do the Fallout 1-2 line and only important NPCs get voice, with the protagonist remaining silent.

In other hand, Im pretty sure Game Freak can somehow fuck this idea

You have the wrong dex. Platinum only lets you fill up its regional dex through battling trainers. That's only about 210ish out of 400+ monsters.

Additionally, most people completing the pokedex want the dex entries, not just the picture of a mon in its dex. You can't get those entries unless you catch stuff yourself, so this is a bad idea all around. Especially since you can't access any National Dex content without having the entire regional dex fully seen, which is a complete pain in the ass if you're avoiding any trainers at any point whatsoever.

Platinum's a pretty decent game, though. If you ever do get into competitive autism, I'd highly recommend its Battle Frontier and post-game in general.

Seen this posted in the dead alpha rad thread so here you go.

About how there's like a third of the mon that are traced iirc

I played hours of Unbound yesterday and barely moved the plot forward.

This game is so fucking fun, there are lots of place to explore and mini missions to do, there was one that I had to catch all pokemon in the dexnav in the area, after that I got an upgrade that showed me all held items that it is possible to get in that area.

This exploration and the maps not being shit like base games give such a life to the region, if only the main story wasn't as bad as it is... The map iad excelent and there is many layers.

There was this cave that had the ice slide puzzle with a TM that wasn't possible to get. But then after unlock rock climb, I could go into another cave in the same area and push a rock that would allow me to go back to the othet cavr and get the item. (And there was also a dynamax cave mission and the Regigigas.

And I explore so much and with the help of level scaling and level cap, I get to train 10-15 pokémon at the same time, always having more options to use than just main 6.

Emerald, GC releases(Colosseum, Gale of Darkness) and Platinum are my favorites. FRLG and HGSS if you want nostalgia. Gen 7 games are a guilty pleasure of mine, but I can understand if people hate them for their long cutscenes.

So, any expectatives for Z-A?

It will run worse than Scarlet and Violet, and will STILL sell like hotcakes. Even if it's Battlefield 2042-levels of horrible on launch, or even bricks people's Nintendo Switch consoles in mass, and even bricks people's computers that try to emulate the game, as an unintended DRM system, the PokéStans will STILL defend the game.

Let's be reasonable.
At that point, I think they'd finally be upset.
