There technically is, a Safari Zone event is occuring in Taiwan right now and Shiny Pinsir is one of the main draws. The one thing I don't know of is if it has an increased Shiny rate.

They do not show on the map, you have to click on them to check if they're shiny. My rule of thumb is to click every pokemon around me and just flee if they aren't interesting, works like a charm. After the first pinsir, which I had caught like 2 minutes before the shiny, I didn't really have much interest in catching another one since they dont evolve and almost didn't click the next one which happened to be the first shiny. From then on I just kinda clicked on all the ones I saw and found two more shinies.

That's how I got the karps (months ago), just clicking on everything and needing the candy for the mew thing and I got the two karps 10 minutes apart.

You can only get shinies from the base pokemon, not any of the evolutions (except for pikachu and other specials like raids). If you see a lot of the same pokemon nearby, even if it's just a bunch of weedle just click and check each one and you're bound to run into one eventually. Higher spawn rates means a higher chance.
 
hey guys. the community day event is today. it starts at 11 am pst

the pokemon is cyndaquil. evolve it to typhlosion and it will learn blast burn.

Caught a couple shinys as well!

Not to double post, but I will say it's a bitch to play Pokemon Go when it's below freezing outside. Someone here liked playing it during this time but I'd favor playing it during the summer months personally. It's annoying having one glove while your hand goes nipping cold right now.

Agreed, there's nothing worse than having numb fingertips. I always recommend getting touchscreen-compatible gloves, touchpad-compatible stylus, or a Go-tcha/Poke Ball Plus (the second part of the last option should be a last resort).
 
I was a bit glad today, I finally managed to make an excellent curve throw and got through "A Mythical Discovery" and "A Ripple in Time" to get both a Mew and Celebi. There's still two more of these "Special" assignments to get through, but I was glad to make that throw, I suck at getting an excellent hit, especially curves.

Caught this little guy at Target last night. I wasn’t even aware that Magnemite’s shiny was even available. If they could just hurry up, reduce the candy requirement for Magneton, and introduce Magnezone, that’d be great. It’s my second shiny, after Duskull.

This is just a reminder that the December Community Day event ends at 11 PM PST today, if you have previous CD-featured Pokemon that NEED to have their CD-exclusive moves then evolve them before time is up!

Also, the Shiny rate for the featured Pokemon is sill boosted compared to standard spawns (but not up to the same level as a normal 1-day CD event or Saturday's three-hour window) so you still have a chance of getting that Shiny Pokemon you're looking for.
 
guys. the next community day is tomorrow. this time its totodile. he will learn hydro cannon if you evolve it top feraligator.

the event starts on Jan 12 at 11 am and ends 2 pm pst
 
hey guys. the community day event is going on right now. swinubs are popping up everywhere and if you evolve em to mamoswine, it'll learn ancient power.

also, you can get sinnoh stones from battling with friends for up to 5 times. and get 5 more sinnoh stones from sparing with the team leaders for up to 5 times.

I only got to go do it for about 30 mins, but I managed to get a Shiny, so I’m good.
 
Okay, double post, but Double Candy are going on right now, so if you want to make the most out of the Meltan spawn thing using Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee, now’s the time.
 
With a recent update, it's now possible to take your Pokemon out and photograph them anywhere you want. I decided to recreate a famous moment from Sonichu! The high shutter speed though made it difficult to work with indoors (very dark) so I had to stick him in the toilet than behind it, but it works.
