Hello, my name is General Grievous, and I'm going to LP a Romhack of Pokémon Crystal called Crystal Clear. Crystal Clear makes numerous significant changes to Crystal, transforming it into a fully open world Pokémon game.

These changes include:

Screenshot_2.png
Screenshot_3.png
Screenshot_4.png
Screenshot_6.png

Additionally the entire map is freely traversable from the beginning (HMs, with the exceptions of Surf and Fly, are only required for optional areas and items), The story is essentially removed (aside from the Suicune quest), and the Pokedex has been completely overhauled.

For the pupose of giving this LP a gimmik, we will be doing what I'm calling a Rocket Larp. Meaning that I will use in combat only the evolutionary lines of Pokemon used by Team Rocket (I reserve the right to use non-Rocket Pokémon as HM slaves). I will also be utilizing the Team Rocket Grunt Sprite to complete the Larp.

Raticate, Grimer, Ekans, Zubat, Oddish, Machop, Voltorb, Magnemite, Houndour, Koffing, Rhyhorn, Nidoran, Onix, Kangaskhan, Murkrow, Porygon, Geodude, Venonat, Drowzee, and that's all I can think of. Let me know if you think of any more

Now before I begin I ask for three things:

Screenshot_5.png

Screenshot_6.png
Screenshot_7.png
Screenshot_8.png

And your favored starting town.

Gunt the Grunt
Houndour named Munt
Any city with heavy Rocket presence: Celadon, Mahogany, Azalea, Saffron, Viridian, Goldenrod.
Personal specific pick is Celadon - get the only easy part for a fire-type starter in Kanto out of the way right at the start, and uphill battle to get to the Johto Kino.

Voltorb is just going to be the Pokemon Yellow Experience. Pick Porygon, start in Celadon as above (you stole it from the Game Corner).

Johnny Pimento, starting with a Houndour in Cianwood City, you just got back from a year long trip to the Orre region as part of Rockets outreach attempts to join Team Snagem into your fold, when that went tits up you decided to return to home base but instead of coming back to a Johto region under Rocket control like you left it its now been cleaned up by Gold and nothing remains of your former outfit. The grunts have disbanded and Giovanni is MIA.
As the last Rocket left in the entire Indigo League area it's time to reclaim Johto by working eastward, taking back cities one by one until the whole region is back under Rocket control.

His name is not important... what is important is what he's going to do. He just fucking hates the pokemon world and the human Weedles feasting on its carcass. His whole life is just cold, bitter hatred and he always wanted to faint violently. This the time of vengeance and no HP is worth saving. And he will put in the PC Box as many as he can. It's time for him to battle... and it's time for him to blast off again.

Houndour. Luger if male, Eva if female.
Start in Celadon City to take the most casualties first. It will serve as a statement to the Kanto region that Team Rocket will rise again once you begin your killing spree.

(Also the dev team for Crystal Clear is pozzed as fuck. Expect to see a lot of "diverse" skin colours in the game that look like ass because the randomizer mechanic can't compute skin colours right).

I'm just going to stop in and recommend Polished Crystal as the better romhack of Crystal, and is open source.
Also choose voltorb, name it Abdullah bin Hazzad (Abdllhbnhzd if the character limit is 11), and only let him use self-destruct

Bit of a slowstart, but I wanted to get an episode out before the weekend. Let me know what you guys think.

Our story begins with Javony Milano, the Italinx Rocket Grunt, and his Houndour, Evalita, landing at Cianwood City after having wasted a year attempting to forge an alliance between Team Rocket and Team Snagem.

Fuck Orres, and fuck Team Snagem, I hope I'll never have to return to that Arceus forsaken region in a thousand years. Heck, I didn't even get any new mon to show for it. I just better have hope that Giovanni and Archer will be too busy ruling the region to care, though speaking of that, where's the welcome home party?

Determined to investigate, Javony walks down to Cianwood proper and begins to interrogate to the locals.

Javony.png
No shit sherlock, we're on an Island.

Screenshot_13.png

Screenshot_14.png

Screenshot_15.png

Javony.pngYeah, well Evalita isn't exactly capable of Flying. Now could you direct me to the local Team Rocket, or am I going to have to let my superiors know you're being uncooperative.

Screenshot_16.png
Team Rocket? You mean the band of terrorists who tried to take over the Radio Tower? Last I heard Gold wiped them out.

Javony.pngWHAT!? I mean uh, oh really? And who exactly is this Gold bastard?

Screenshot_16.pngI'm pretty sure he was a kid attempting to beat the Indigo League

Javony.pngSo where would I find him, if I say wanted to congratulate him, ya know, for wiping out Team Rocket.

Screenshot_16.pngI think I heard it mentioned that he was from New Bark Town, but I have no clue where he currently is.

Javony.pngHmmmm... New Bark Town, I'll have to pay it a visit. Thank you for your cooperation, I trust this conversation will remain between us.

Screenshot_16.pngSure, as long as you never speak to me again.

With a destination in mind, our, ahem, protagonist enters the Ferry Building and sails off to Olivine City.

Upon arriving in Olivine, Javony decides to explore the city and talk to the locals.

Outside the Port:

Screenshot_29.png

Javony.pngYou do know those aren't exactly mutually exclusive.

At the Cafe:
Screenshot_50.png
You know what white boy, I like the look of you. Take this.
Screenshot_30.png

Javony.png(Bizarre, last time I was in Olivine there weren't any darkies around)

At a random Fisherman's house:
Screenshot_32.png
Hey you! You look like just the type of cretin to appreciate this.
Screenshot_31.png

Finally, Javony entered the home of a Man named Honeybun.
Screenshot_40.png
Hello stranger, what brings you to my humble abode?
Javony.pngWell, I saw your name on the sign outside, and I had to ask: Is your name really Honeybun?
Screenshot_40.png
Yeah, is there something wrong with that?
Javony.pngWell, nothing, if you're a Fag.
Screenshot_40.png
Oh, you want to go bastard?
Javony.pngYeah, I think I do. Evalita has been itching to battle.
Screenshot_40.png
Then it's on.
Screenshot_41.png

Evalita effortlessly knocks out the Dratini with two pursuits and an ember, forcing Honeybun to send out his second and last Pokémon:
Screenshot_42.png

Which Evalita then proceeds to defeat with two pursuits.

Having explored Olivine to his heart's content, Javony sets off on Route 38 towards Ecuteak City. Evalite effortlessly handles the few Trainers that dare challenge Javony and her.

Thus after a short trek, Javony reached the entrance to Ecuteak city.

To Be Continued...

Sorry for the delay, here's the next episode.

Screenshot_51.png

We return to find Javony to Ecuteak city, about to embark on the next leg of his journey to hunt down Gold.
Screenshot_52.png

Screenshot_53.png

Screenshot_54.png

Screenshot_55.png

Screenshot_56.png
Screenshot_57.png

Blitzing southwards, stoping only to loot the occasional abandoned Item, Javony finally reaches New Bark Town.
Screenshot_58.png

Javony.png
So this is where Gold's from eh? Honestly I thought it would be a bit bigger, but at least it'll make finding Gold's house easier.
Screenshot_59.png

Javony.png
And there it is, now I'm going in there and... What was my plan for dealing with Gold again? Shit, I'll just have to improvise.
Screenshot_93.png

Javony.png
Ok Javony, you just have to act natural.
Screenshot_94.png
Are you here about the room for rent?
Javony.png
Um, yes, of course! And, uh, by the way is it true you're Gold's mother?
Screenshot_94.png
Why yes I am.
Javony.png
So, do you know where he is?
Screenshot_94.png
No,
Screenshot_60.png

Screenshot_61.png

Screenshot_62.png

Javony.png
Oh... I better go then
Screenshot_94.png
Don't you want to check out the room?
Javony.png
Oh, yeah how could I forget (shit, I nearly blew my cover)
Screenshot_94.png
Just go right up those stairs.
Screenshot_63.png

Screenshot_64.png

Javony.png
So this is Gold's old room, he clearly hasn't been here in awhile and his Mother isn't saying where he is. Perhaps someone in that Lab up the road will know?
Screenshot_66.png

Screenshot_67.png

Screenshot_68.png

Javony.png
(Shit, why did I just tell him my real name?)
Screenshot_69.png

Javony.png
(at least he doesn't seem to suspect anything)
Screenshot_70.png

Javony.png
Zero, why?
Screenshot_71.png

Screenshot_72.png

Screenshot_73.png

Screenshot_74.png

Javony.png
So let me get this straight, the only deciding factor you are using to hand out this important object, is a single goddamn gym badge?
elm.png
Yep. If you have a problem with it, feel free to leave.
Javony.png
Oh, I'll leave all right.

Screenshot_75.png

Screenshot_76.png

Screenshot_77.png

Screenshot_78.png

Screenshot_79.png

Screenshot_80.png

Screenshot_81.png

Javony.png
Ha! This will teach that Professor bastard. Now I got an egg, and what's this? A Pokedex? Hmm... I should check this thing out, all I have to do is catch a Pokémon.

Screenshot_82.png

Screenshot_83.png

Javony.png
Now, what should I name this thing?

Are you going to unlock the tutor moves from the mt moon area? All you have to do is access that PC and you don't have to actually go through Mt Moon (going directly left of the Pokemon center outside takes you to a hidden shortcut to the guys place), and Bonemerang is pretty good throughout the game. Spark is good coverage too.

Jack is the only right name for the rat.

I’ll have to consider it. Though it probably won’t happen soon.
