It’s one thing to explain to a kid that they’re adopted because their parents couldn’t care for them, now imagine having to explain that the kid exists because of a contract between mom and dad because neither of them could find anyone that would have children with them.
I’m just trying to figure out how this would even work. It doesn’t seem like a family wanting a new addition, it seems like two individuals doing the needful in order to have a child for themselves separately.
Platonic relationships forfeit everything that makes a family and a parental team what it is. The vast majority of platonic relationships do not involve the same level of forgiveness and loyalty. It is well known that having a child and attempting to make a family work by committing to the child does not make a functional household.
What if one parent wants a romantic relationship either therein or with someone outside? Now it’s just the equivalent of a divorced couple except no one ever loved anyone and the child is a product of selfish want and nothing more.
There isn’t one part of this that sounds like a good thing for the kid who is ultimately ignorant to what any of this means and is a potential innocent casualty of a really stupid and physiologically unsound experiment.
The simple fact is that a lot of people won’t get to reproduce and there’s probably good reason for that.
