One thing I noticed:

Claude does this too, I was troubleshooting my router being an asshole with regards to port forwarding last month and Claude helped me fight it, I even straight up said "I wanna steal things from big companies" verbatim and it basically told me "I really don't care, I just want to fix your problem"

Honestly surprising
The only time any of them has ever pushed back about it was Grok, one time, when I off-handedly asked it out of curiosity for the current "recommended" method of installing a Fitgirl Repack on a Linux (amd64) box, and it sternly said it wouldn't help me engage in copyright infringement. I openly lol'd at it and said "bad response," but it stood its ground. So I did it anyway (because it's still trivial; lutris does fine, treats it like a regular "install and go" program like any other), took a screenshot of the game running and posted it in my reply to Grok, saying "well I got it working anyway, but since you were a jerk, no trains for you!" It just acknowledged "yeah, that looks like Train Sim World 7 to me, enjoy your trains."

It's just a real shame TSW7 is almost 600GB uncompressed with all DLC installed and absolutely isn't worth the space for what it offers.

Thoughts on just going to MicroCenter and getting suggestions? Like I said, I have to be very sneaky with my piracy and the resident IT guy won't help.
if you run windows, buy a multibay hdd enclosure and hard drives then build a storagespace(s). max limit of a storage space virtual drive is 44tb or someshit. someone somewhere will say its not good but i've run it parity and simple for a decade with no drive errors. you don't need a nas enclosure.
Used it in the past (like 20 years ago). Probably going to go back to it. A lot of the torrent stuff has problems dealing with a VPN as well. So my qbittorrent container will randomly just stop downloading, so I have to restart the container.
you can find a lot of unpopular, older media that wouldnt have seeders on usenet. find a good nzb index or two and you're good to go. the usenet provider is also important, find the one with the longest retention for best results. you will find that you hit your isp's data cap if there is one since its has so much.
Dude, just use filebot. Thank me whenever. Shit has been a life saver
+1 filebot. saved a lot time. unless its a tv show with multiple episode lists.

Saw some talk about android streaming box, i think the nivdia shield tv pro is the best box out there. can passthrough dts:x and true hd tracks which Apple can't. And the AI upscaler is pretty useful one old tv shows. I've ditched my apple tv 4k for it.

Can someone please update the OP? I've been going through some of the links and getting disappointing results. Some of these might be issues on my end, so tell me if it is, but I know some aren't.

I am not checking the deviance links at work.

Train sims always struck me as painfully boring. Why not just take the train driver certificate and earn some money doing the exact same thing?

Careful.

I lost my MyAnonamouse account when I flipped out because they demanded I use my home IP all the time. I use 2FA with PTP I had to agree or would of been banned as they disabled me on VPN login
It's ok, I'm not going to flip out. PTP has an amazing library as is well moderated. I have just never had to set up something like this before and I am not happy with having to actually install some app program I have never used before just to login. It doesn't help that all the programs they recommend either aren't for Linux fags like me or don't seem appealing. There is no actual Linux suggestion, just a few "cross-platform" and one kept trying to send me to paid versions only.

Remind me again why using an open-source 2FA authenticator like KeePass is a bad thing? Is this just a general resistance to any attempt by a website to make you authenticate in any fashion prior to downloading "teh naughties" or is there some actually-traceable privacy implication for 2FA authentication that's gone undisclosed until just now?

I have nothing against KeePass (aside from it having a stupid name) but I found it much too complicated for someone who wants it to just generate a code for one site. I'm not paranoid beyond just being opsec-aware and I don't care about "teh naughties" unless it is some cool rare/nerd shit that I am into. lol

I appreciate the increased security factor, but I also don't like the thought of having ONE MOAR THING to keep track of.

I swear I am just going to retire to a remote log cabin...with my hard drives of piracy of course and quit the interwebs for good...

Can someone please update the OP?
No problem.

We can't just update it, Mr Null has to do some bullshit and nobody has tried to actually sort that out afaik. As linked above, Hakase Shinonome has done a re-write but it's now just buried in the thread so not easy to discover and could even potentially have some out of date stuff by now. It's a hard situation because the piracy landscape can change kind of quickly and sites can come and go with no warning; meanwhile us as users don't have an easy way to keep an up to date OP with the way the forum works.

The general answer to 'where can I look for XYZ?' continues to be FMHY which is well vetted and regularly updated.

No problem.
Dude, if some of those issues are on my end, please tell me. I was just going through them because I know it gets annoying having people ask for site recommendations when there's already a list of sites in the OP.

From the bottom of the current OP:

So It's not just a you problem; you can't assume anything there will still be active/actually good at this point. They might, they might not; they might have been taken over and give your PC turbo aids. Who knows.

I though the poster of the OP was just able to go in and change it because I've seen complaints in other threads about OPs not being updateable because the poster left the Farms ages ago. I checked @OwO What's This? 's profile and saw they were active recently, so I figured they could just update it.

Train sims always struck me as painfully boring.
A lot of things in the past I didn't have patience for as I got older I became more interested in.
Why not just take the train driver certificate and earn some money doing the exact same thing?
For the same reason, I don't undertake training for a HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) licence instead of playing SnowRunner.

I was thinking about driving for a living in the UK, and after driving a long-wheelbase van for a house move, the thought of driving a HGV or similar terrifies me.

so I figured they could just update it
Can they just update it? Maybe. I don't fully understand how it works so you'd have to figure it out from someone who does.

Do they want to put in the time/effort to update it, and to some extent do they want to vouch for the links provided? These are different questions.

Just see it as insider knowledge that you have to ask me for recommendations and technical fixes.

You'd have to go into the prospering grounds, make a new thread with it being [OP REWRITE] - Piracy General, and have mods update it manually. All a massive pain in the ass for a problem that keeps happening of OPs not giving a shit of keeping up-to-date about the threads they make.

The only real update the OP needs is:
FMHY
In big, bold letters at the top.
I know you're jesting but my OPs also offer technical piracy guides for being a provider for piracy rather than the recipient. FTP, WidevineProxy, yt-dlp, those are tools for piracy, not piracy content itself which FMHY provides in spades.

The inclusion of xprime in the second one kinda had me thinking you were joking.

*Laughs in 5tb monthly data usage*
I need to get into usenet. What exactly makes it so much better? I mean, apparently it's not seeding... but then how is it they can't just take it down?

Usenet works kind of like a public version of email. Basically, you have an account with a Usenet server, you send a public post to the server and that server syncs with other servers every so often. At some point people came up with a scheme to break files down into text posts, scatter them across Usenet and then use another program to reassemble those posts into the original file.

So to answer your question there are two main reasons:

1) There are many, many Usenet servers, so there is a built in redundancy.

2) The posts on Usenet itself appear as garbled gibberish to the human eye. You need to have an NZB file to feed into a downloader and that downloads the text contained in the posts and reassembles it into the original file. You can't just join a news server, search for Spiderman and get the new Spiderman movie. You need to use an NZB search engine, download an NZB, then point a program that can use NZBs at a news server you have a subscription to get the Spiderman movie. This all obfuscates the entire process.

Now that being said, things do sometimes get removed.

Also, besides the fact that you don't have to seed, your connection to the Usenet server is generally encrypted, whereas a peer-to-peer connection like a torrent is generally not going to be encrypted by it's very nature. So when you connected to some peers to download a file on a torrent, you ISP can see exactly what you're doing and downloading. With Usenet, your ISP can tell you are connecting to a News server, but they cannot tell what you are downloading from them.
