My ISP literally forcefully overrides my DNS settings so that I end up using their DNS servers so they can track me, I’m screwed either way.
Is this even possible? Are you using the ISP provided router or did put it in bridge mode and set up your own? Are ISPs starting to lock down their modems/router combo devices to the point where you can't use your own router?

I am using the isp provided router, it’s surprisingly locked down. I can’t even set up port forwards from the web portal and need to use a stupid app which won’t even port forward to an ip address but to a device previously discovered by dhcp, meaning I need to set my server to use both a dynamic ip address and a fixed one in order for everything to work.

But I’m supposed to be getting my apartment hooked up for fiber internet from another provider “soon” so I’ve been putting up with it for now

For all of AT&T's faults, they've at least never locked down their provided modem to that extent.

Yes, some ISPs don't even have bridge mode available on routers and the ISP needs to remote into them to enable it. Xfinity still forces you to use their routers and if you don't use their equipment, they'll charge you more. And Xfinity has data caps still. Fuck Xfinity. Luckily, I don't have them.

Ever since I learned the magic phrase "bridge mode only, please" when spoken to the installer (which has, incidentally, worked literally 100% of the time, every single time, with no questions asked) back in 2001, I have never once allowed a telecom provider inside my home network in any fashion. Asking for "bridge mode" is shorthand for providing simple instructions for standard service without the garbage, and the installer fucking loves you for it every time, because it means yours will be the easiest/fastest installation he'll have to do all day long since all he has to do is get it wired up and show you your gear can DHCP a config from it, and he's done.

Because they get paid per install, not by the hour, and because this makes the installation as simple as possible, they will inevitably do a good job, and sometimes (if they can get away with it), even provision faster/better service than what you're technically paying for. Even if the latter eventually gets "noticed" by the provider, generally they either grandfather it, offer a discount to keep it, or, at worst, reduce service to the level you're paying for, but I've never seen one try to bill me for "unearned extras."

"Bridge mode" just means "put an ethernet port in my house that will give me an IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and default (but not mandatory) DNS via DHCP when I plug my equipment into it, and I will handle the rest; I do not want or need your router, gateway, firewall, wifi AP or other bespoke junk." It's what literally every business gets by default (i.e. "internet without consumer-grade filters or other bullshit," where you're trusted/expected to run all your own shit yourself and not ask for help unless the link itself goes dead).

ETA:

It's astonishing to me they can still get away with that shit now with so many competitors out there. Even in places where "they're the only wired option so fuck you," Starlink is still available and a viable competitor now (on cost, speed, bandwidth and latency).

I have never encountered anything remotely like this in 5+ years and different cities in my state. From day one I've had my own hardware, and I've never paid a cent more for that.

I've even been running a piracy stack 24/7 for a few years and I've never gotten in trouble for my torrenting (when the VPN is up) or Jellyfin access.

I suppose one of the only benefits of Canada is that I don’t need a VPN because the ISPs are only obligated to pass on sternly worded letters from the copyright holders and they won’t disconnect you or forward your information to them. If Alberta leaves I should probably get a VPN just in case the laws change.

I'm still voting for seedboxes. Don't rape my upload bandwidth, a bit more expensive than a pure VPN but very simple. I send the torrent to the seedbox and pull down the completed files and then clean them up when I hit the ratio I want. All automated by flexget.
Obviously that doesn't fix the fact that some ISPs are just crap and you'll want a VPN anyway.

once you give up on Resolve, try Kdenlive. It's cromulent and free.
kdenlive is dogshit. It can't even handle making simple cuts from clips in the media library without "forgetting" everything about the new clip (that you made via a cut) except its duration, so when you drop it into the timeline, what you get is the contents of the original clip from 0:00:00 to [new clip's duration], not the actual chunk you tried to make a clip of. Known bug. Fucking ridiculous.

The modded APK sites. Platinmods, PDALife, and AN1, I guess?
I never really fuck with the pre-modded ones. At least with the Morphe patches you can (ostensibly at least) review the source to see what if actually patches.
On the FMHY site itself mostly sticking to the gold starred sites would be 'okay' but pre-modded is not something I have insight on sorry.
