The preview for the newest Stern game 'Rush' is up.


I'm not that big of a Rush fan, but the playfield looks pretty fun, it reminds me of Iron Maiden.
They got the band to do the callouts with I'm sure fans will really like, and I think they were able to get all of their 'big' songs.
It'd be absolutely hilarious if they sneak in a Trailer Park Boys reference.
 
Dead Flip has his livestream showing off Rush. The game looks pretty good, but it really does look like a second crack at Iron Maiden.
Not that it's a bad thing, Maiden was a really fun game.

Maiden wss a good table but I am always leery of that manufacturer after the endless complains of nib machines getting pitted playfields after just a few dozen uses. I notice on new machines you have to drastically reduce the flipper strength a lot of times or the ball just starts flying around crashing into things.

I found out recently I am addicted to pinball. Ive played at local arcades a handful of times the past few months. I think compared to local scores I am doing pretty well overall but how in the world do I gage if millions of points are worth a lot or a little overall, you know? Like, how do I put my scores relative to what a 'good' or 'bad' score is? I know some people are a professional level, where do pro scores start/what can I search to find out for each machine? (Hope that question makes sense)

I didn't think it was this new, but I enjoyed it at a pinball convention in 2022. My local pinball place has one now and it's pretty fun.

I'd love to own a machine but it's so similar to owning and maintaining a classic car. Pinball FX3 on Steam licenses all the best Williams tables, it's way cheaper for the nostalgia trip. Theater of Magic and Arabian Nights are so dank to play endlessly with decent ball physics.
 
I am lucky enough to have a good amount of pinball machines in my area. I have been playing and recommend (if you can find them):

- World Cup Soccer: GOOOOOOOOOOOAL
- Indianapolis 500: fast but forgiving machine with a button launch so its predictable, "it's a great day for racing and a great day for pinball" gets me every time
- Paragon: old wide body machine. really satisfying once you get the hang of it
- Hot Wheels (American Pinball): newer machine, great theme, the ramps look like fucking hot wheel track its excellent
- James Bond 007 (Stern): just came out, has older Bond movie clips that play mid-game which is pretty funny
- White Water: hooked me and stole all my money, might have my favorite OST of any table
- Cactus Canyon Remake: I want my own machine badly

I tried out Stern's QR code login thing on the new Bond machine and its cool but who knows how long it will last. Might be the only real "innovation" in pinball in the last 10 years though.

Now that's nostalgic.

Pokemon Pinball is a good one, physics are a bit shit as expected for an 8-bit game, but it looks and sounds nice. The collecting aspect gives it more replayability than the average pinball game.

There was an Elvira pinball table that caught young me's attention for obvious reasons. I think I remember Back to the Future, Sonic, and Mario ones but maybe they're false memories from seeing pictures, I can never be sure for some reason.
 
Reviving this thread to ask y’all a question. Do you think troons have an advantage vs women in something like pinball? I’m familiar with several female-only pinball leagues; women only due to men tending to be much much better, so the women’s leagues give them a chance to actually win. Is it because the men have a better understanding of the machines? That’s likely part of it.

But in my mind, men having larger hands, faster reflexes, and generally being better at strategy games give them an additional advantage. I’m asking because a troon (MTF) has been winning every single competition in my local women’s league. I brought it up and of course was instantly blocked. What do you guys think?

This is also happening in my local league. I have seen multiple women leave the tournament scene over this stupid shit. It's very obvious that trannys have an unfair advantage even with something like pinball.

They also have the ability to manhandle the machine to jostle the ball which can be very advantagious. I have a feeling that it's not that women don't have the physical strength to do that, but they're less inclined to try tactics that seem aggressive.

Some pinball machines are very sensitive in terms of how easy it is to trigger the "TILT" mechanism by doing that.

I have noticed that machines at my local place are usually pretty lenient, or at least most of em. The guy who maintains em is obviously a pinhead and plays constantly so he adjusts the tilt based on his perceived difficuly. So Godzilla and Deadpool you can shake a ton but give Mandalorian a nudge and it's almost always a tilt.

I'm swapping out my machine for something new, thinking of a Gorgar or an Eight Ball Deluxe. Thought about a Pinbot but the problem is the topper gets in the way of my cat sitting on top, lol.
 
Honest to god pinball controversy! There's a new machine based on John Wick and people immediately noticed that it was missing something, guns!

Like the number one thing anyone thinks of when they hear John Wick is guns but neither the playfield or side art feature guns.

According to a designer at Stern pinball, commenting in a facebook group, the no guns on the playfield or side art was a mandate from the IP holder but movie clips showing guns will be on the display. Pretty sure you'd have to include guns with the movie clips since the movies are 98% guns.

So obviously lots of people pointed out that making a John Wick game, a franchise that is pretty much just known for gun fights, without prominently featuring gats was fucking retarded. Notably one extremely retarded pinball youtuber called Cary Hardy who might be lolcow worthy, I'll have to check his socials


Then ya have a bunch of counter complainers, complaining about people complaining and simping for the company that sells $7~13k machines.

The no guns thing is dumb, but people on both sides are acting like tards. I just wish Stern would get away from every new table being a licensed property.

Stern will make their own barbeque themed machine next year. I'm fine with IP based pins, I think we forget some of the best pins of the 90's era were IP based. I'd just like it if Stern playfield art didn't just kinda suck. It's not as bad as it was in the early 2000's but their style basically amounts to "plaster IP soullessly all over the playfield" with a few exceptions like Godzilla and Foo Fighters.

Yeah in general I've liked Stern's new machines, just looking for something a bit different.
