No market it just like pillowfort and don't allow shitlords in until 6 months later when it's got a good herd in it.

Why not just invade pillowfort instead and use their moderation/blocking/post-editing tools that are supposed to protect snowflakes as trolling tools themselves?

Its so weird. Since when has a living organism specifically evolved to survive in less environments? They ensure they can only have a internet presence on the most exclusive and constantly shrinking bioms. Do they know they are abominations and most be cleansed?

the only reason why i would ever want this to ever get off the ground is because of how it'll turn into the penultimate mecca for weens if it does. i imagine it will be like the neoboards shitstorm all over again except with more crying about how their safe space got invaded by da ebil dudebros. actually, i'm surprised the team behind pillowfort haven't realized this, or if they have then they're still chugging along anyways. something something those who don't learn history, doomed to repeat it, something something.

if i had a dollar for every time this forum captured some tard being a tard with a user trying to theorize that they were trolling, i would have already paid off all my student debt by now.

For the price of going to university in America, you could've learnt German, moved to Germany, went to school in Germany, and toured Europe. And still have money left over. So who's the real troll victim here?

(I accept my autistic and off-topic ratings with solemn dignity)

You could do all that for $24k?

Yep. University is free in Germany (and several other European countries), even to Americans. The -only- reason to go to school in America is to get that big name on your diploma. Since most people don't go to places like Harvard or Yale, it really won't matter.
I think you're missing the point here.
You can't pick up your life, learn German well enough to go to a German university, etc. for $24k.

i've heard the argument of "quality over quantity" regarding european colleges versus american ones. unfortunately i can only stand on the point that, yes, tuition can be goddamn ridiculous here.

but anyways, before we derail the thread too hard, is it even worth betting on that pillowfort will make it to the alpha stage, let alone have any sort of launch? i mean, tumblr kids like to imagine that simply wishing for an idea to happen is going to make it a reality, despite not applying any measurable amount of effort into it.

I highly doubt we'll see anything at all. The general idea really took off during the whole sad debacle in the Steven Universe fandom -or at least, there was an overlap-, and since that's died down (a sort of '24 Hour News Effect') and there hasn't been any major fandom fights since (i.e. the kind that sucks people who aren't even into the fandom into it and a sizable factor in people suddenly getting hyped for what's essentially vaporware), a good chunk of people have pretty much forgotten about Pillowfort. Pretty sure if you were to mention it, you'd get the Guardians of the Galaxy "... Who?" reaction.

I get that coding and making websites, especially social media ones, are not easy to make and blah blah Rome not built in a day blah blah. But as far as I can tell, they've missed their chance to further capitalize on their 15 minutes of fame, or they've realized they're preaching to an audience that regularly panhandles and passive-aggressively guilt trips for expensive shit on Amazon Wishlists because said audience asspulls excuses for not getting actual jobs. Even Weasyl -a "totally not a furry art site guise even though we advertised to furries!" that rose to prominence during Yet Another Big Fur Affinity Scandal- managed to prolong its hype to Beta stage before it and the hypetrain all but fizzled out due to various factors. Pillowfort, however, is guaranteed dead on arrival at this point.

How exactly do you do marketing/PR your website when everyone in your target audience is a unique snowflake with their own special individual requirements that change hourly?

Update! There's finally a proof of concept on their tumblr, which honestly doesn't look that bad. If it weren't created with an intense focus on coddling, I'd be more interested. Their crowdfunding is planned to be on indiegogo instead of kickstarter.
I'm a little disappointed because I wanted to make a thread on failed/stagnated kickstarters and this one seems to be making progress.

Did anyone play that mobile game where you were just a silent protagonist who, for reasons, only had a fireplace and a catalogue of things to burn in said fireplace for entertainment? You were entirely sealed off from the world in a tiny room and your only interaction with any sort of wider world was this one catalogue where you ordered content to just burn to get money to order more stuff to burn. That's what these people want the world to be like for them. Pillowfort is their fireplace, everything outside is cold and uncaring so just lock the door, close the curtains and spend your entire life bathed in the glow of tumblr silently sending off your blog posts that nobody reads that bitch about how nobody reads your blog posts. How does anybody ever decide that society is so damaging to them as a person that they have to apply this much self censorship to insulate themselves from accidently hearing somebody us a pronoun they don't like...

No but admittedly I now kind of want to.

Edit: Five bucks?!
