God, it's like something from an emotionally devastating avant-garde black and white docufilm about the ravages of alcoholism.

Kind of like Barney's short film from that Simpson's episode.
 
I am a great soft jelly thing. Smoothly rounded, with no mouth, with pulsing white holes filled by fog where my eyes used to be. Rubbery appendages that were once my arms; bulks rounding down into legless humps of soft slippery matter. I leave a moist trail when I move. Blotches of diseased, evil gray come and go on my surface, as though light is being beamed from within. Outwardly: dumbly, I shamble about, a thing that could never have been known as human, a thing whose shape is so alien a travesty that humanity becomes more obscene for the vague resemblance.

I had delved this infernal library for what felt like aeons. Seeking ever the one answer, the one truth that had vexed me. What lies at the cusp of death. What can be seen beyond that thin line between mortality and eternity. The sages denied me reason, the professors denied me truth, and so I asked of those gripped in the throws of madness, and they sent me here. To this infernal pit full of nothing but rustling pages and glooms of light unseen and unsourced. I turn the pages, but the infernal shadows cast their pallor across what little lights exist in this place. I cannot read it. The words written in black ink are hidden by the blacker still veil that fills my vision. In exasperation, I throw another book aside, the sound of its echoing thundering into the eternal distance behind the rows of bookshelves. In the corner of my eye, a light flickers. It flickers unlike the eternal shadow lights of this place. I move towards this source, like a moth being drawn to its ultimate fate in either a trap of a natural spiders contrivance or man's own artifice. It is a computer screen. It depicts a black portal, wreathed by Gold and the titillating vision of whorish women. Sweet as honey to the eyes, and surely tainted as poison to the body. But the true source, was the blackness within this infernal gate. Blacker still then even the haunting halls of the library. I stare at it in raptured attention. An eternity seems to pass. Surely now I have reached my goal. Surely now I have reached the gate that leads to what lies beyond death.

Suddenly, a figure begins to emerge in the frame of the portal. And I achieve my revelation. I saw it! I saw what lies beyond, horrors beyond your comprehension! I reach out to the orderlies as they hold me down. The grim faced doctor looking on as he takes notes. As my body is restrained and the medications injected I am once more back before that portal, beholding it all.
