she had an anime voice as a kid, was made fun of for it, forced herself to speak in a lower register and now it's stuck

also the first of phase to have throat damage from singing, took years to get better

Her lil throat clear is more an tick than anything else. Some people get those lil nervous ticks where they just need to make a noise after speaking for a bit. Its like of like a "huhhh" she does sometimes after speaking.
I knew a kid that had something similar growing up.
She also has said she adjusts her mic to play into that voice a bit more.

For what its worth. I think the tick is charming.

I’m experiencing hay fever right now: involves sniffling, itchy eyes, wet nose, etc. I don’t clear my throat persistently.

I’ve lived with smokers. Uruka’s tick is pretty reminiscent.

The coughing is fine. Uruka is great whether she’s a smoker or not. She’s my oishi whether or not she enjoys a ciggie or two, but I understand some people can’t accept reality. :smug:
