Smart move to publish all the customization/house design stuff since it attracted a big audience, but it's not a good sign that I can't find any information on the simulation aspects. It sounds like an afterthought. For a game like this, good, interesting AI will make or break it. What is there to show now? A color wheel? Moving some objects around? Changing the texture on a set of headphones? None of that is "fun" - it's stuff you spice up an already fun game with.
Right now this smells of feature creep and a dev way in over his head. His portfolio is in mobile development, and although it's clear he can make games, he needs someone with excellent design skills and a vision for the game to keep him in line. It seems his "vision" is just whatever people suggest - "will there be variable grass height?" "Of course!" "What about snow of different depths?" "Yup!" This is the kind of stuff that happens when you put a programmer in charge of making something, and the end result is a game full of cool programmer shit, but nothing of value.
Pretty much all of these large-scoped indie games follow the same trend: Show off one or two well-done features, then tack on a bunch of stuff still in the works that also sounds really impressive, but isn't shown for whatever reason. This is no different - nice UI and home design stuff, but tons of promised features that aren't present in any of the posted media.
