Idk why Paradox is going with this close up 3D style and this kind of UI aesthetics in all of their games since CK3. Its extremely ugly. CK3 arguably does it the least badly but then Victoria 3 and EU5 just look ass. This looks even worse than usual, literal mobile strategy game tier graphic UI. Also lmao at them making a shitty copy of a mod of one of their other IPs.
Personally I think it looks redundant in that it seems to be covering the same gameplay themes and beats of any CK, that being transitioning from tribalism to an organised Western society and then playing a game of holy wars, but this time its got a post apocalyptic theme.

That would never happen. Paradox makes Grand Strategy games, not visual novels (CK3 gets close but still). Besides that would be too politically charged for Paradox, even in Hoi4 they keep it as military focused as possible, no way theyd make a game like that.
A Fallout grand strategy game could never exist with modern day Fallout lore, which they would be forced to adhere to. No true settlements exist, nothing is allowed to grow or rebuild now, NCR is dead, Legion is dead, BoS is just a fraternity of frat bros now. It's all just little raider pockets and ghouls and super mutants. Not exactly interesting, really.
I already know the timeline for this
1. Comes out, buggy mess on release, DLC season pass/subscription announced on release. Wide as an ocean, deep as a pond.
2. First patch/balance fix addresses minor concerns while not fixing any major issues.
3. Subsequent patches continue to try to ‘fix’ the balance issues. All they do is wildly seesaw between issues, all of which should have been dealt with during play testing
4. First DLC arrives, it’s lackluster, adds more systems that have no depth.
5. Second DLC arrives and it’s a little better but it’s far too late, the player base is already gone.
6. Game is put into maintenance mode after 2 years, with a handful of devoted modders keeping it going.

Heres the 10 minutes of gameplay Paradox graced us with, this is our real first impression of Afterworld.

It kinda looks like Stellaris but it mostly looks like a shitty free to play mobile game, one of those sketchy ones full of microtransactions. I know its still in Alpha but not a good omen.

So it's OWB with worse combat and setting, jammed into a Stellaris wrapper, featuring those awful 3D characters that PDX love so much now. Oh BOY.
If this had been done right, I could see myself really enjoying this kind of game, but I can already see so many red flags with development . That said, I will be interested to see what modders might be able to do with it.

>Post apocalypse USA
>No mentions of Christianity
>Barely any mentions of US culture
>Barely any mentions of US history
>Cavemen with guns esque lore, gameplay and skill trees
>Starting options are 3 questions with 3 options each for mild benefits (with 3 possible starts)
>The mod old world blue having better post apocalypse lore than a new paradox game
>Gameplay loop: explore with explorer, find suitable base, settle base with good stats, explore more, find resources, harvest resources, get events, pass laws, create fighting units, create extra base, create supply chains....
>Mix between Civilization (grids, resources, exploration, units and bases) and Frostpunk (post apocalypse setting and law/skill tree mechanics)
It feels shallow and barely uses the setting properly and has missed ideas like: bastardized Christian denominations, post apocalypse cults, wacky methods of warfare, get inspired by ANY post apocalypse media and larp as remnant feds/rednecks/mormons/amish/ethnic enclaves. Why use the US as the setting when you are going to barely utilize it, is it just an excuse to prevent having to create a competent map generation feature?

It's just Endless Legend with a brown/grey paint job and shitty mobile game UI, lame!
>Citizen Farouk
I'm glad Agent 47 is doing well and all, but if this isn't at least some form of attempt at a Nation of Islam tier thing then I will be even more disappoint.
I don't know I stopped following CK3 AtE after playing it once and went back to CK2. I can't even blame CK3 entirely for it, the mod was just poorly designed.
Finally, City Skylines is playable.
No, seriously, last I played CS1 is was just not playable because of how much fucking lag there is if you have anything other than just the base game installed, even with higher specs than the recommended. God help you if you decided to get all the DLC, and you want to play a larger city? Whew man. Unless they jeetcode this game too I can see it running much better.

I find it funny how people were hoping for Stellaris 2, well they sure as shit got it. If by Stellaris 2 they mean After the End (of this game's support) with mobile graphics. Also it's Alpha but I hear it's not too far away from a release. Grim.
Imperator 'Merica 20xx.
All these freaks hate America despite it being one of the few countries willing to support them and their faggotry, and we all know why they seethe at the mention of Christianity. No way there's going to be any of that, you're more likely to get peaceful Neo-Muslims.
The main problem is that Shadow Empire is a proper wargame. Despite all its.... issues (and let's not deny that SE has some problems in its core gameplay loop, government and diplomacy particularly in my humble opinion) it's still a proper wargame where you need to put effort. I can see it having a more limited appeal for a more hardcore audience.
Also, goshdammit the worldgen of SE was amazing.
Paradox "GSG" games are random events simulators where you slowly paint something against a non-functional AI. Larping sims, it's all they are.
I didn't realise it would change my government type back to Iqta, as you can't have Chinese Imperialism government if the real Chinese emperor is a member of your dynasty. That sucks. I think having that special OP government type was even better than the +10.00 monthly grace from a same dynasty Chinese emperor.
There was a revolt in my realm stuck at 15% in the enemies favour for the entirety of the Chinese war, several years. I go to investigate afterward and find out the revolt started on the Canary Islands has been stranded there ever since, they have no ships.
Now time to get back to the Aladdin achievement.
Edit: I guess they kind of overlooked how you can still send your daughters to the Chinese emperor as concubines, when he is your nephew.
Edit 2: Okay, maybe the massive increase in passive grace gain is worth it. I finally got to use the "Request Invasion" interaction and they straight up tore Byzantium asunder.
