I love how easy succession management is with Islam. My eldest son had the strong trait so I let him stay as my heir, until my youngest son was then born with the quick trait, so I grant him a county making him become the new heir, but then my eldest son fathers his first boy with the genius trait, so of course I now give him a duchy to become heir again in the hopes il get to play as the genius after him. Being able to revoke duchys without penalty means it's pretty much another form of heir designation. I've been collecting bloodlines with my cousins, one of my dukes is a same dynasty member with 2 historic boodlines (Songsten Gampo and Muhan Ashina, in addition to his grandfather's ruthless bloodline) but the selfish bastard won't have any daughters for me to marry and inherit them. He's got five sons now.

The opinion penalty against brothers is the most annoying part, I want to give new titles to dynasty members but this makes brothers, uncles and lesser sons dangerous, and most of my distant out-of-realm dynasty members are still Taoist so they refuse to come to my court. It feels like an oversight that you can't entice them back with a title, you have to invite them first which they will seemingly always refuse as a different religious group. Nigger I'm going to give you land, you don't even need to convert right away I can send you money and sway you for a couple of years first if thats what you'd like, come oooooon.

Oh FFS. Characters are the dumbest, shittiest part of EUV, they're bad enough in CK3, but at least there make a tiny bit of sense.
I want characters in an EU game. Wars over personal unions were going on into the mid eighteenth century and the ability of a state to centralize was often contingent on the abilities of a ruler or their advisors and generals. Unfortunately Paradox either wants to make them into CK3 lite or just expand on EU4's already awful system.

It was also allowed and even mandatory to kinslay in ottoman empire. When a new sultan claims the throne, the first thing he would do is to kill his brothers, his brothers sons etc. Seljuks are much more merciful with their ways that is why they split.

Correct. Even through the EU period, singular and exceptional men are what drove wars and personal unions alike. I want that represented more fully.

I just don't know if this expedition thing is the way to go. EUV main problem atm is that there's a severe identity crisis at what it wants to be. It retains a lot of the trappings of prior EU games (cores, claims, missions, spirit of the nation nonsense) but is also trying to be more simulationist via characters and the economy system. It needs to pick a lane and stick with it.

I gotta stop skimming the event spam when I'm 4-speeding my way through war. Too many times have I found myself saying "How the hell did you jackasses get council empowerment?" because of it

It's a strange oversight in it. Victoria was even worse. I think Paradox games sometimes show this sign that they are conforming to their own genre standard instead of asking what these different mechanics serve functionally. Like in Victoria, it had generals with their own names, as if that's important for what it portrays, but whether you had a Bismarck in charge of a Germany or a Wilhelm II wasn't.

For EU4's timeline I feel like the advisors should have been a starting point more than vassals and family beyond the immediate succession. That era, when I think about it, was defined more by its court favorites, "grey eminences." Almost as important as a marriage and politically inflammatory. Something like a Sir Walter Raleigh or Cardinal Richelieu should be as much a part of the game's story as anything else.

Early on there's artists (which I posted about long ago) and late on - and I've bitched about this with Empire Total War - there's Enlightenment philosophers and sometimes these figures were tied up with statecraft in ways that are interesting. But the game isn't built to accommodate a Benjamin Franklin as a person, just a Benjamin Franklin as one of your (never changing, last I played?) diplomat names.

They missed on not somehow involving the Protestant Church Fathers too.

We Baghdad now.

Long Western China. Control of the Silk Road is a divine rite bestowed by Allah praise be unto him to the Chislamic Hashashin of Baghdad.

Full disclosure: I've been creating back up saves before pivotal decisions just in case, and I've had to roll back to an earlier save before swearing faelty to Tibet. China would always declare war and subjugate Tibet within 3 years after the situation shown in this post, putting me right back as a vassal of the protectorate, but this time he has an entire empire and like 6 counties in the middle of pagan attrition land. Unrecoverable. I've spent hours joining that war and trying to drive them back but it's impossible. Now instead I've just scrambled westward to escape their influence.

Edit: Right now I have a single genius son who is also my heir, but I didn't give him any titles and he became decadent, then refusing the straighten up interaction. I don't want to kill him as he's a genius so he's now locked up in my basement on house arrest until I die. Only then can he emerge and take the hajj like a glorious yellow brown butterfly. Alhamdulilla.

Oh no, not again!
Last time after he was invited on similar trip by pdx . He started to make "theory" videos about how Vic3 warfare system will look like . This was months , before pdx revealed it. And it was suspiciously simillar to his theories.
What? What does this Bavarian nigger means? Is he just shitposting?

The sister that I married to a Jewish court physician 2 generations ago seems to have had a rough go of things. Eighty-one year old, one-eyed, one-handed, scarred, paranoid, cruel, lunatic whose entire close family has died (I admittedly executed her Jew husband myself after he castrated me during a treatment for the flu). Somehow I don't trust her.

Edit:

I'd be a fool not to.

It's starting to snowball now, some of my vassal dukes are taking land without me even noticing.

This fucking guy, I granted this man the county of Oshrusana on the right there 15 years ago and forgot about him. Suddenly I get the popup for "Title formable" for both the Kingdom of Transoxiana and the Dhucy of Khiva, I check it out and there he is holding 4 more counties with his good martial, brilliant intrigue and +48 opinion of me like "Salam....where you been?".

Naturally he receives the duchy, partilineally marries a daughter and is given a council seat. This right here is my top guy.

I dont even know why they make different games anymore. They clearly want EUV VIC3 CK3 to be basically the same game. I wouldnt be shocked if moving forward its just "One game" instead of three different games.
Well for starters 3 games means 3x the DLCs and 3x the money. You just gotta think like modern Paradox man.

Well I'd rather have something in historical setting and it doesn't look like one from little teasers they posted (well maybe a cold war gone hot?). But I'm a PDX whore so whatever they announce I will probably give it a go... but please don't let it be gay.
Battletech 2, now with tranny colors by default on your mechs. The whole "Grand Strategy Game" is a red herring.

But really my money is on the Fantasy GSG. A Cold War gone hot is not really suited for a GSG, maybe for a 4X game, a fast paced one, to be precise.

If it's fantasy Stellaris it's gonna be grey goo generic fantasy that wants to be everything and represent nothing.
