re:I do remember that nintendo did a metroid II remake after they deleted AM2R. Could nintendo can make a proper mario RPG game if they fear fan competition? We don't know. the only way we can be sure is someone make a decent paper mario fangame that is a spiritual sucessor to the TTYD
You've got your cause and effect a little mixed up there. The reason AM2R was taken down was because Nintendo was working on their own remake of the same game. Not that I support that move, but it makes sense from the perspective of a business investing in development for a commercial product.

maybe but it a bit too coincidental how they sudenly reveal their game just after the cease and desist

The DMCA was in September 2016 and Nintendo revealed their own remake at E3 in June 2017. That's a difference of nine months between DMCA and the reveal trailer; the Nintendo remake came out in September 2017, a year after the DMCA. Early development on the remake began in 2015. I suspect that in August/September 2016, after about a year of development and testing concepts, Nintendo's legal department was given orders to start getting the remake's trademarks in line and up to date as the project's development solidified and release and distribution were to be scheduled.

Again, I don't think the AM2R project should have been hit with a DMCA, but I also don't begrudge Nintendo for trying to protect its intellectual property. It's just an unfortunate situation. The AM2R guy couldn't have known that Nintendo was going to remake an old Game Boy game; development in-progress and releases are closely guarded industry secrets. And Nintendo probably had no clue that the AM2R project even existed until they began the process of filing their trademarks.

To say it is "too coincidental" is to start jumping at shadows. It is out of the question that Nintendo decided to dedicate a development team, set up digital marketing, have packaging designed, designate resources to distribution, construct a stage demo, source cartridges and have their representatives do the press rounds because they got scared into action by a guy making a free remake. That's not generally how these things work.

Anyway... back to Paper Mario.

I'm enjoying this a fair bit, actually. A proper experience and level up system would be great, but this is a massive improvement over Sticker Star. Yet to play Color Splash.

At least battles are pretty quick, even though I'd bad at some of these ring puzzles. I haven't been finding them much of a chore yet, and at least they're giving you reasons to spend the coins.

I thought the games and plots were well-designed for a "family friendly game", obviously the gameplay is simplistic and doesn't have the depth that other games of similar genres do, but for what it was, it was quite well done (I also wouldn't consider it "for children", I'd consider it something more "family friendly" but with enough depth for adults to appreciate, akin to a Disney/Pixar film).

The consensus here seems to be that plot got sacrificed in the later games compared to the earlier ones or other Mario RPGs.

I'm still early one in the game. So far I like it more than SS or CS. It's the most Paper Mario feeling game since Super and possibly the best since it too. I like the dialogue, full time weapons, and partners...if you can call them that. Searching for toads is also fun. I do find the battle system a little annoying. You may one mistake and it can hurt. The story is still rather simple compared to what the series used to have. I also think partners with unique designs and personalities would be better. Still it's the best to me since Super. Many fans keep saying the series might be taking "baby steps" to the original formula but waiting until 2028 for a real Paper Mario game would be annoying. It wouldn't surprise me if the mix of the two formulas is now permanent.

I'm now in the second elemental temple. I must say the scenery are gorgeous. The best of all paper mario game. The temples do really look like zelda dungeon.
This game still miss variety. It woun't be that hard to do, just add some cloth that distinguish them but they all look the same
It's me or olivia and bob the bob omb sound much like young children? If I remember well the helper (goombario, goombella, Tippi) weren't that gullible and joyous

You have a gun with two bullets and you're locked in a room with Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash, Hey! Pikmin, and Paper Mario: Sticker Star. Wat do?
I can admire Chibi-Robo for at least trying, and Pikmin for just being eh.

Sticker Star crushed the fans dreams of a new Paper Mario especially when early screenshots showed us having a Chain Chomp partner. It takes my two bullets and a wad of spit I'd shoot at it.
