I guess the two CD-I games don't count.
No of course not! Kidding lol. Although props to the actress that played her in the animated cd-i games, Bonnie Jean Wilbur. There was an interview with her a few years ago. She was still well informed on Zelda some 30 years later because she occasionally gets autograph requests, however she said she has never seen the finished product. She said she watched her niece playing Breath of the Wild one day and she found it to be so extraordinary and lovely. (She said she would like to play Zelda again. If Illumination were smart she could make a cameo in the upcoming film!)

She and Link's actor recently returned for a game in the style of cd-i games (she even does her famous "GOOD!" line). The fact that they both know and appreciate the memes and the YTP phenomenon (at least Link's actor Jeffrey Rath confirmed he does) is honestly touching, especially because there are actors who you just know would find it abhorrent and beneath them *cough*Schemmel/Baker/Rannells*cough*

The new Zelda game looks cute. But there is a ton of discourse over her. Something about her weapon........because of course.

Are we cautiously optimistic? The new M&L game didn't look too great on the visuals side but not too bad either. When it comes to overall design it seems they're on the right track, though. I might have to get back into M&L for this one.
Yeah I would say so. I'm having some mixed feelings in terms of the overall design, some of it reminds me of Dream Team which I find forgettable, but the other half of it reminds me of Superstar Saga, which was peak design for the series.

I'm cautiously optimistic about it being better than BiS (the game where our Lord and Maniac Fawful resides), but I'm super optimistic that it's gonna be a very good game.

EDIT: It also apparently gonna have a "destroy the mega corp" story, which is awesome, reminds me of the best parts of Partners in Time.

...
...Whacka doesn't appear at the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials unless you've hit him so many times that he doesn't show up on the beach anymore.

I wish I had known that before I went down a second time. Even if I was able to skip to level 50 by paying 300 coins.

Once I get done work and can check these videos out I will let you guys know if it is "amazing" or something other.
I guess it just depends on how hungry you are for M&L. The series hasn't been great since PiT, BiS was overrated. I'm optimistic though.

I mean, it’s the first true console Mario and Luigi game and it looks like they pulled out all the bells and whistles to make that a fact, I love the gradient cell shading, and the combos we saw has a lot of variation to the input styles which is where Mario and Luigi really stood out,
I basically agree, if it lays off the gimmicks then it's already in the upper tier of M&Ls.

For Zelda, it takes the Links Awakening remake aesthetic(I genuinely love the toy look but I know many hated it) and gives it a unique puzzle take on the Zelda formula that to me looked like Zelda meets scribblenaughts, but I’m mostly excited for it because you can see a lot of ideas from BotW and TotK being reintroduced into the top down Zelda play style. I think the biggest chance for failure is if we end up with a singular copy ability that breaks the game so much you can just rely on it for everything.
It comes down to dungeon implementation. I'm curious and cautiously optimistic but if it's just 2D BotW with a new gimmick then I'm pissed.

Still playing the game. Got the third Crystal Star. The Rawk Hawk boss battle was dope. i imagine him sounding like Hulk Hogan with a squeaky bird voice.

I am generally in agreement with this. Oddly enough I didn't even like Inside Story that much until the re-release with the extra content. Your guess is as good as mine on that one.

The visuals are really nice. I can see they are not the best, but that is okay; it is strangely encouraging.

By the way I know it's beating a dead horse at this point but for anyone curious these are the localization credits for the American release, pulled from the Credits roll of the Remake C46791B7-E0E2-49D7-8BB4-E83BCAC9FFC8.jpeg BADE15C6-725D-4A5A-9BB7-D80BF08B7A30.jpeg

He is named "Hawk Hogan" in the original Spanish translation of the game.
His retranslation is "Halcomán".

By the by, Mario & Luigi getting a new entry is no that surprising: apparently, the reason why Paper Mario wen through that change in gameplay is because Nintendo wanted only one true and honest RPG series, which would be Mario & Luigi.

Tbh, I actually thought one of the main reasons why they bothered doing the TTYD remake is that they saw AlphaDream closing and they were like "Welp, let's return to the basics with Paper Mario". But by the looks of it, that probably won't happen. It's sad that the only thing I could be excited for the series would be a 64 Remake nowadays, or I guess if they abandoned 99% of the RPG aspects and just fully embraced Paper Mario being an adventure-esque game kinda like Zelda (the best parts of Origami King).

Makes sense that they changed it (even though its kinda sad), but I wish they went more full into it and referenced more "Lucha Libre" instead of "Macho Man", something like "Guerrero Halcón" or "El Halcón", which are common name concepts for luchadores.

Wait... I must have missed these saved quotes.

it's trying to do the kinda shit undertale did with it's speech mumble somehow without understanding why that sounded good in that game. Paper Mario ALREADY had it's version of that with the text scroll noises that have become an iconic staple of the series so changing it to something that's aping something that's aping nintendo makes it really feel off on top of it being a more annoying variant of it.
Banjo Kazooie already did this, though that was because memory constraints prevented full voice acting.

it's weird to me because I remember back in the day when it first dropped it was popular to the point you had weird shit like kinda popular Mario fan forum sites named after shit mentioned ONE TIME in the game but then a few years later opinion flipped so ridiculously severely the other way around to a cartoonish degree you could probably compare it to the game's flip mechanic. Gameplay wise I never really stopped finding it neat how the rpg mechanics got turned into a real time affair. Maybe it's because I knew it wasn't going to be every game afterwards that'd be like that?
Paper Mario Sticker Star made Super Paper Mario look faithful in comparison. In fac, the new direction of the series made things worse.
An apt comparison would be Pokémon Battle Revolution: there was a lot of hype, bu that hype fell, since that game had a lot less content compared to its previous entries. When Pokémon Sword and Shield got released, the whole Stadium series, including Pokémon Battle Revolution, got a lot of praise because of its truly, honestly, high quality animations with 'personality'.

You've got the standard nuts -> wild/whatever automatic replacement.
I say that is because of 'nuts' apparently mocking people with mental disability, apparently.

The same thing: this would appear offensive to people who have vocal disabilities, no matter the Bob-Omb ultimately sayin good things about him.

There was a boss in the trailer and it's using LTTP's World layout, so I'd be really surprised if there weren't any dungeons.

Which is pretty dumb, it'd be better just to differentiate them more than to gut one of its identity. Plus they have Mario & Rabids, another RPG series now, so they're back where they started.

Even if they have sime type of "dungeons", if they're not traditional Zelda dungeons then I'll still be disappointed. If they're more akin to shrines it's gonna piss me off.

Yeah I liked the shrines in TOTK (and the dungeons too) but I'm ready for the return to something more traditional. There seems to be sequences within the dark world and also in elemental themed places too, so maybe it'll be a mix of both.

Banjo kazooie did it differently. There's a difference between full sound clip based voice mumble and the "A A A A! A A ! A !" kind. Splatoon 2 and 3 have banjo kazooie style voice mumble if you've seen the cutscenes from those games. This has the "A! A! A A A A!" kind, not the banjo " ha ba ha ba ga" kind.

That explains things. I actually did not yet play the remake, since I was focused on a mod of Paper Mario 64.

Speaking of this, since I really wanted to use the new textures, I decided to switch from Paper Mario TTYD 64 to Paper Mario: Master Quest (not Jr). Aside from the surprising lack of background from the in-battle HUD, the textures look great. Also, actually using Timed Hits on Bowser from the get-go feels very satisfying.
