Hmm, I cleared the fourth tower but I still haven't seen any ancient civilization cores yet. Am I supposed to go dungeon diving for these?

The Coralum grind was killing me until I discovered the island with the Neptilius arena and that the Whalaska there dropped Coralum ore. I immediately set up a breeding and mechanized slaughter factory for whales since it was the most efficient way to advance my technology, which is just about the most Japanese thing imaginable.

Well done Pocket Pair

You get them from level 60 oil rigs, or the much easier path of expeditions. Once you beat Victor and Shadowbeak in the AL Genetic Research Unit Tower of the Astral Mountains you will unlock the first expedition that offers Ancient cores as a reward.

New to the game. Can I be relatively nomad and build new bases frequently or is it best to finish the tech tree on just one? I'm getting kinda bored of the same area and I kinda have the pokemon urge to explore and catch as many different pals as possible.

You can build multiple bases, however you wander to find new stuff and new areas (for all the fucking upgrades) and TP home, start farming Dazzi clouds they are invaluable if your overloaded and not turning of weight mechanic like i am.

Wow, I'v made it up to thermal cores without the need to ranch for poison organs. Just went with drops. What do you guys do with them?

solvents usually, i just wanna make the pretty onsen for my pals but i need thermal cores :/

Expeditions i've got a tone of them right now. Also could they make the expedition building a bit smaller to fit in my base.

Until you can make the Recycler, expeditions and slab bosses are gonna be your grind for cubes. The Moon Lord medalion is the the easiest slab to farm in mass, and he's only level 50. Make the Recycler ASAP once you can, it will solve a lot of resource issues almost immediately for end/post game. You'll go from having to grind out cubes, to having so many you will never run out again pretty damn quick once you get it made.

I just lob a fuck ton of decent pals at ML personally. With enough beams and projectiles flying about he eventually goes down. He doesn't have a ton of massive "fuck you" explosion AoE's so he's not KO-ing 30 at a time if they're at least in the 60's. Assault Rifle like weapons and the Terraprism would be ideal for inflicting damage on him yourself.

fucking ancient furnace shifted my primary base's priorities, had to rewire every electric pal to have artisan + work slave + serious at the bare minimum with 5 in electricity because that thing was draining power twice as fast as they could generate it, i might need to find an orserk or something with a higher base than 5
and then there was the requirement of a 6 ice pal and my backup whalaska was just painfully slow so i got around to catching frostallion and fed him books until he had 10 in cooling
now i need a shit ton of AI cores, computers, ancient wood, hexolite, soralite oh my fucking GOD i'm glad I'm breeding an army of anubi with remarkable cratfsmanship on them

1.0 is amazing. There's a bunch of new shit and it's hard to go through it all. I'm on track to make a build monolith of slaves Pals. I just hope I don't get gimped by the base building mechanics.

I'm gonna call it the tower of babel.
New favorite Pal is Tantris. I love that you can cancel it's websling and maintain momentum to just zip around cliffs.

I'm ready to face the fact it's better to go manually hunting for or setting up a mining site at a naturally occurring ore site, but the fact still stands that 1 ore per 1 minute of harvesting from a lv4 digger at an ore site built by oneself is fucking nuts. Especially given the fact you don't get guild chests til lv 40. So you're meant to set up all of... the two bases you can build, and zip between them to collect the materials you need for different things until you get guild chests and can actually make a logistics network?

Every single thread I've read starts with "If you adjust modifiers and mod-". I can't be playing the same game as other people. The game is fun and all but by no means the GOTD miracle people pump it up to be.

Butchered my first pal yesterday because I wasn't getting those god damned gumoss leaves from just catching them. I was not expecting the game to go full on Japanese gore pixelation, and I had the hardest laugh I've had in a week watching my kindly old bushy 'stache grandpa go full American Psycho.

there is only one good spot for it: the tiny island directly east of the desert region, you can build two bases there for a total of 6 oil nodes
Yeh, I built one there right now. And finding out I need more than one pal at electricity gen now lol. Guess I better dont skimp on the beakons or whatever electricity pals I have in my box currently.

I've been using 2 condensed Rayhounds with an extra single pal generator at my main base since I hit this step (Artisan/Work Slave/Serious/Insomnia). 2 of the high power "no spot needed" drills, furnaces, lights and assembly lines, no issue. I only get power issues if I don't return for an extended period of time, because then the Electric pals get unloaded and stop working. That's usually very brief though. Rayhound can't hit Elec 10 without books, but it really isn't needed in my experience.

1 ore per 1 minute of harvesting from a lv4 digger
There's a couple "tier 2" ore mine types (I think for "actual ore" and for logging). Lv4 is also no longer the top tier for skill affinity (not by a long shot). Star fruits and skill books can boost skills to lv8 (I've done it personally, no mods). Breeding for specific passive skills can grant further (substantial) bonuses.

Every single thread I've read starts with "If you adjust modifiers and mod-".
Vanilla's fine on its own. I didn't even know about modding until I'd spent months grinding pre-1.0 vanilla, on default settings. It's fun shit. 1.0 adds a lot of QoL stuff. Mods add more fun stuff but you absolutely don't need them. You can capture and breed some VERY capable pals in vanilla. Just takes time.

Chargemaxx a rayhound. Since it can only generate, all the condensation ups go into it. Then give it twoo electricity books, and it should have level 10 skill. I did that and it's comfortably supports three rigs alone. But with an advanced electric station.
