Learn the language and don't be a picky eater. Also, Japan is not animeland unless you are one of those WFH guys who works for a western company, you really don't want to work for a jap company

Depends on where in east asia but if you really like the place I wouldn't recommend working for a company local to there (as the other dude said do 1 of those WFH things), especially if its Japan, Korea, or Indonesia. China it depends but u should be alright if u somehow manage to get hired into one of their big tech companies in a decent spot. Other than that just learn their language and don't be a dick.

Make sure you're earning in USD or the absolute equivalent in local currency.
Don't marry a women over there. You WILL get ass fucked in divorce/custody disputes.
Be realistic about your lifestyle.
Don't be a mega prick to the locals and try and learn the language.
S. Korea and Japan kinda suck to live in. S. Korea is just weird and Japan is not exactly Gaijin friendly outside of the top 5-10 biggest cities.
In the poorer countries expect to be see as a walking wallet/scam target 24/7.

tbh what ARE some of the ideal counties for a honkey to move to? I heard the netherlands is alright and already has a large importation of american libshits and they already speak english I dunno how jersh would feel about recommending serbia to people but it is cheap any worldly kiwis wanna reccomend a place as a back up plan?

Europe... Portugal or maybe Croatia. If you're very adventurous Romania.
Everywhere else is expensive as fuck and not exactly easy to get a work visa or residency permit.
New Zealand used to be nearly perfect but it's getting overcrowded now.
Uruguay, Panama, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic are reasonable if you want to stay in the Americas.
The only issue with Central/S America and the Caribbean is if you run out of USD you're in for a rude awakening.

I'm (somewhat) considering retiring in Thailand. Beautiful people, excellent cost of living, safe, great food.
However, here's some rules i would suggest;
1. Remember that you are a guest. Don't throw your weight around and act like an asshole.
2. Don't break the law. The government doesn't care about you, and will not "go easy" on you because you're a foreigner.
3. Learn at least the basics of the language, learn how to greet people, how to say please and thank you. Asian cultures seem very strict on protocol.
4. If you meet a woman in a bar, she's probably a prostitute. Don't do that, you'll lose everything.
5. Be prepared for the fact that you may have to leave. Most Asian countries are ethnostates, and if the decide to "auslander raus!", you will have to go. Though, if all foreigners follow the above rules, it's probably unlikely.
6. Expect that things won't be perfect. While Thailand is fantastic (at least in my opinion) it's still a third world country. There will be garbage on the streets, and buses and trains might be late. That's just how it is.
