He's had some pretty long streaks of sobriety, even recently. That he's able to stop cold turkey and function normally for weeks/months at a time, just to throw it away assuming it'll always come easy, is one of the worst things about him. He may not even be aware of the pain he numbs, and won't realize it until he tries to quit again.
Blade's foot is literally rotting off and they're turning it into content. If his friends actually cared they wouldn't be enabling his alcoholism and they wouldn't stream his slow death for money. If they actually cared about him they'd get him off the internet and put him in a private rehab.
Blade is an adult and he made the decision to continue. Living a long time isn't inherently great, Blade's choice might just be between giving up drinking (thus losing his streaming career and breaking the hearts of fans) and live a long life marred by poverty and chronic illness OR continue drinking and maybe die in the next few years, but probably at most just lose a foot and continue drinking streams and making 800-2k a night for a decade with a wooden leg/wheelchair before expiring on a legendary stream and going down in history as the realest streamer ever.

The driver was probably scared as soon as they started climbing into the car smelling like piss, BO and alcohol. They are loud, belligerent, unpredictable.
