Hospital trip is standard procedure for a decent Blade stream. It ended like I predicted, passed out in public somewhere. At least he managed to be entertaining first, albeit at the risk of his own life and possibly those of others around him (but again, that might be considered standard for a decent Blade stream).

Las Vegas's big casinos all got bought out by a small consortium of private equity firms who've all made the "curious" and "innovative" choice of looking at every potential customer who isn't a "whale" straight in the eye and saying "fuck you, get out, you're not welcome or wanted here, eat shit and die, we hate you, fuck off, never come back" without doing some back-of-the-envelope math first.

They're doing the Mitt Romney "value extraction" thing with the strip, squeezing what revenue they can while they still can and stripping the properties to the bone and preparing to sell off every piece they can (all while using money borrowed in each property's own name, not the equity firms'). Then when it bottoms out the locals will get to see an impressive number of implosions in a record-short timeframe and then "enjoy" a period of record-low tourism levels while some new batch of "risk takers" swoop in to build up fancy new resorts to try to answer the "obvious" need for middle-class tourism destinations.

The simple truth is that the degenerate, problem gambler doesn't need to go to Vegas anymore. They got their phones. And for these private equity firms, the casinos have high overhead costs, especially when compared to online gambling.

So there really isn't a good reason for them not to gouge the shit out of tourists. If the casinos go under, they can write off the losses, stop having to pay the overhead, and just make their cash off of idiots online.

At least that is what make sense to me.
