If someone demonstrates egregious behavior, the correct course of action is not to persistently harass them; it's to ignore them. They will learn that their actions are driving people away, and they will correct their behavior. If you harass and abuse someone daily, you are only guaranteeing that their poor behavior will persist, and get worse over time.

So if a streamer saw that his viewership from actual fans was, by objective measure, dropping month over month, year over year, they should correct their behavior, even if their day-to-day income remains relatively unchanged due to a select few people propping them up, right? If they don't, and the same people continue to reward them with money, who is enabling the "egregious" behavior at that point? The people mocking the behavior, or the people providing tacit and open approval of the behavior?

However, once they begin to experience daily abuse and harassment - you can no longer blame them for their behavior.

I'd love to hear an explanation for how anyone forces Phil to pick up his phone and spend tens of thousands on a WWE-themed Bejeweled clone. Or forces him to pay the exorbitant overage of DoorDash when he lives with another adult, and they're both capable of driving. Or prevents him, at the age of 40 or whatever the fuck he is now, from learning even basic cooking skills. Or forces him to lie about...nearly everything.

Not gonna pretend I read much of what OIC posted, but I did see the bit about being a victim of abuse.

DSP is one of the luckiest cows in forms of trolls. They "abuse" him by giving him money. Yeah, there's some generic insult attached to it, but it's generally tamer than the usual internet shitslinging, which doesn't net you thousands of dollars. All of Phil's personal information has been available for years and nothing provably negative has happened as a result of it.

Phil is pretty awful at most things, but one area I can legitimately say he's talented at is self-sabotage. Dude has done way more damage to himself then any trolling attempt. That's what made Phil such an infamous cow, the fact that he continually makes the wrong decision time after time. Phil is a lot like Derich, his behavior is so over the top and outrageous it can't be manufactured by anyone else. And they're both tards who obsess over their interests.

I definitely think there are some cows that were made worse by people interacting with them. Some of their origin stories are having meltdowns over their own detractor communities and flying off the handle. But again, Phil's trolls primarily give him money. They aren't trying to get him to fuck his mom, they're not running blackmail scams, they aren't swatting him, they aren't showing up at his very public address or showing up at total wine when he announces his scheduled day off, they weren't going after his wife who he also publicly shares the schedule/location of etc.

The person who does the most damage to Phil is Phil. I legitimately don't think that if Phil ever had his own group of idea guys trying to ruin his life they'd come close to doing anything nearly as disastrous as Phil has done to himself.
