He's just a cartoonist who is also a pedophile and since he looks so much like a pedophile I think he's just a good person to caricature. Also, he was friends with a lot of fellow animators and he worked on a modern Spongebob movie.

I swear I remember Arin Hanson doing voice work for one of Kyle's things. I think it was called Ground Keith and Miss Citrus, and I watched it because I like Arin's voice.

From what I remember the show followed a sibling pair, with the dynamic as you stated 'Goofy male lead and hot female side kick' as they went on adventure time like quests using a series of unpredictable. The female voice actor was british or something, pretty forgettable, and one day it just stopped airing episodes probably from low views
