I think it was worth it even though my mother basically hates me. I think it was actuallly she knew I was doing a good job.

That always was such a sticking point for believability. Ellie is a lesbian - fine, sure, whatever. We know from an outside perspective it was a choice made outside the purview of the story and forced in, but it's not impossible. However, in this apocalyptic world where survival is the most important thing - she finds not even just one, but two other lesbians. This would still be a problem if Ellie wasn't the super special potential savior of humanity but she is.

It might have actually been some kind of unique subversive storytelling move if she accepted that her own desire to munch the rug should be secondary to the survival of fucking mankind and accepted the fucking cock (could have even just been a turkey baster) to make a path forward. Of course not though, even in the apocalypse fucking identity politics are more important. She could STILL tame the beaver at the same time as being mother to a resistant for of humanity too. God.

I'd always assumed the first game wasn't too silly for some reason, but every post-timeskip cutscene so far has been a woman girlbossing a man to death or saving him. Between that and 90% of the game being walking through broken concrete and "gritty" dialogue, it's worse than I was expecting.

im feeling too lazy to do this right now BUT if you want to do the iconic chris white character with blue shading, take a good lighter blue (or just color pick a thumbnail) with a pressure size+opacity brush. i did notice he leaves a decently large reflected light (compared to what i’m used to doing) so keep that in mind.

i have other art homework (zoomer moment) i need to work on, if i finish that quick i may take a crack at this. probably not though since its ten thousand degrees in my dorm right now and i dont particularly want to lean over an ancient ipad trying to run procreate any longer than i need to. id rather hold my face above a hot plate.

my one gripe with my personal oneysona is that my brush wasnt pressure sensitive enough so some spots arent quite to my liking. i also didnt include reflected light. but im in the even more autistic art field (product design) so i view things differently than someone whos focus is visual arts, animation, etc.

Having the lone savior of humanity with a natural immunity to the virus also be a gay person that will never willingly have children to pass on said immunity does have an inherent funny factor, even speaking as a gay guy.

Iirc they never even bring the idea up, which seems a little odd. Apocalyptic situations tend to be where extreme measures are taken for the greater good but when it comes to something as basic as maximising the number of people there are modern principles still win out #loveislove, having a subsection of the population that'll never reproduce and may as well be eunuchs is totally fine actually.

It's even funnier when you remember that canonically the virus hit in 2003 in the HBO show and even decades later there's pride flags and rainbow murals all over the place.

The social picture in TLOU sometimes feels more like "what if Covid was 20% worse" than "What if 80% of humanity was wiped out and every society on the planet collapsed". Like, the world of TLOU doesn't feel like it's own unique society and culture built around and from this apocalypse setting, it feels like the world as it is right now but 5 minutes after the apocalypse started where things are more or less the exact same but there's less people and the buildings are run down.

The real story is this, if you want a good zombie game play anything else (Dead Rising 1&2 and some Resident Evil games have compelling stories and Left 4 Dead has cool gameplay), if you want the stealth/combat aspect play something like Manhunt, and if you want the cinematic shit then the Uncharted trilogy (especially 1 and 2) did it way better. Moral of the story is that Druck the Cuck is a hack fag who ruined two good series (Jak and Uncharted) for his gay little antics.

I took a crack at coloring it. It isn't the prettiest since I was trying to do this quick but I hope you guys like it.

It's funny to think that if Joe wasn't a perpetually malding schizoid with a hateboner for Sleepycabin adjacent people, he could have ended up a guest star on Smiling Friends to voice a character with the wacky voice he did in his old animations, or animated a side character for a quick gag or something like that. He'd probably also be remembered a lot more fondly instead of being known as a bitter has-been who didn't make it.
Instead we got the timeline where he makes schizo doodles just for us which is still funny as fuck

I remember in the DD&J days at least one time they referenced Joe's work (Bowjah from his cashel). The tragedy is Chris is typically a fan of the other NG animators, you can usually find him somewhere encouraging them in the comments of their videos. Joe basically decided to just randomly devote his like to hating a guy who would have probably been his friend without hesitation.
