Friendly reminder Bowlbo was announced 5 years ago.
Also sometime last year the contract with AlbinoMoose, the developers working on Bowlbo, expired and was not renewed.

Makes you wonder what the hell is actually going on? Was it always supposed to play out like this, or is it hinting at potential financial difficulties in the Oneysphere from pulling a Yandev. Zach is the only one of the OG Sleepcabin crew that has actually created something that has been able to make it to the mainstream. The channel isn't doing as well, and Chris has talked about needing surgery for back issues. Oneyware? more like Vaporware. I guess Chris could always move back to Ireland to work in his family's bargain store.

On that note I wonder what Chris' citizenship status is? He probably holds something like a dual citizenship with Ireland right? I wonder if he has an American or Irish passport. I don't recall hearing anything about him becoming a full naturalized citizen of the US. I remember him talking about being in the US on a work visa before, but could he really be on a visa for that long, and have a good reason not to pursue citizenship?

Doublepost, but allow me to explain.
I made that post and joked about Chris working for his family's bargain store, because I remember him mentioning it in a video. Namely in their Poppy Playtime video I recall him saying something about his dad getting Poppy plushes in his store, so I surmised that it must be some kind of discount store that would stock that cheap garbage. Maybe he outright said it, but I can't recall. I decided to see if I could figure out which one(s) it was.
Turns out it was kind of scarily easy thanks to the power of Boomers and Facebook. I just looked up bargain stores in Wexford, and then googled (store) owners Wexford.

Sorry guys curiosity got the better of me, I'm a Kiwi Farmer by instinct. There's probably more, but I didn't want to dig too deep out of respect. Turns out Chris comes from a family of business owners. I wonder if they have money? I think Chris growing up as a rich kid would totally check out.

Given that he owned only one cuurent-gen console at a time, probably more in line with your typical middle class kid. As someone who has worked with these types local businesses before, they do not pull in wealth.
As for Bowlbo, it started close to Covid and a huge economic downturn. Chris has kept silent on its development, except to nod along when Dave and Cory talk about how difficult it is: the only anecdote I can remember about it is how he wanted the game to be made of smooth pre-baked animations like Heart of Darkness but abandoned the idea after realizing how much effort it would take. I'd imagine that a lot of factors, including Chris's inexperience in game development, have led to Bowlbo's slow development. All we can do is wait and speculate since, unlike Yanderedev, he isn't releasing much information on its creation.

Even big chain grocery and convenience stores survive on razor thin margins. Unless you're the Waltons, you are not getting rich running a store like that.

As for Bowlbo, I'd like it to be released obviously. But Chris hasn't ever asked for money or given a concrete release date for it so I was never keeping track of anything. If it's too much, he really should try releasing a smaller game just to get something out and gain experience. Then he could worry about making something like Bowlbo.

I always felt like Chris was really naïve about developing games. He has the same Arin Hanson brain worm that thinks just because they play a bunch of games, it makes them experts on how they're made. I can totally see the scenario where Chris walks into the studio and every employee shudders because they know Chris is about to ask them to put some other infeasible shit into Bowlbo because he thought of it. Either the contract was up because they had done what he needed them to do, and the game is moving forward, or he realized its a money sink and switched to the long game where he drops it, and never mentions it again in hopes people just move on.

Game developers, especially, ones that get huge for a singular game, almost always have a few games under their belt that they've made and released beforehand. Whether it be indulging an idea, or fleshing out a concept they were thinking about, the kind of shit where you learn how to design, and work within an engine, figure out what kinds of concepts will work and what won't. It's not a bad thing to reuse ideas you've learned how to fit into a game after you get your feet wet and actually learn how to execute your ideas well enough to put something worth all the hype out there. People go into it with this idea that all they have to do is make the one good game, and not see it as a process as an artist just like any other creative venture. I always felt like going all in on your ideas for your magnum opus was a stupid thing to do on your first try. Nobody ever sat down and said "I think I'm gonna make a masterpiece today".

It's strange that Chris is having problems with that idea because he's an animator, and he of all people should know that you have to put out like 100 shitty things to make one good thing. Buddy you shouldn't be taking this long on your first go of it, even the pros would balk at that.

Also on an unrelated note: One of the only reasons why I posted the phonebook of the stores is on the off chance annoying ass Oneyplays fans spread the knowledge and start to annoy his parents with quotes from his channel because the average Oneyplays watcher is the least funny person in any building they're in, and his parent's relative anonymity has been the only thing keeping his annoying fans from bothering his family. I could absolutely see some dumb reddit motherfucker posting about booking a trip to Wexford to make the Hajj to Megamix and Deadly Discounts, and Chris having to tell people to not go to his parent's stores. It's kino waiting to happen.

"Harass" is a bit strong don't you think? Autistic 20-somthings spending money to fly out to Ireland to say Oneyplays quotes at a store, maybe even buying something, is a far cry from anything resembling harassment. Maybe if they keep at it long enough his parents eyes are liable to fall out from all the eye-rolling they'll be doing.

It took about 5 minutes of looking, so if it wasn't me it was going to be someone else. Chris shouldn't mention that kind of shit if he doesn't want them to be found. Clearly an opsec issue. Not that it was my initial intention, I just saw it as a potential funny scenario as a result from posting the easily found, and public information. I could have not posted it, but it seemed interesting enough to share. I'm simply reporting what I find.

Besides, I don't think there's that much of a crossover between the redditor side of the Oneyplays fandom and KF to be honest, as much as I wish there was. Which is why I said an "off chance" because I don't actually believe it would happen. The info is posted on the evil Kiwi Farms after all, and viewing this site makes you a tranny killing sleeper agent for Russia. Trying to get people to harass his parents would be taking this info and spreading it around with intention.

My guess is that Bowlbo was conceived when Chris had good advertising cashflow. Youtube has changed a lot in 5 years, generally not in good ways, but Chris's primary content is not advertiser friendly by default AND Youtube isn't promoting let's play channels much at all.

I still don't understand how "It would be funny if Oneyplays fans went to his parents work and were annoying because that's what they would naturally do" is wishing harassment, and thats being hyperbolic because I don't think they would even be that bad *if* it happened. When I made that post, I was imagining a comedic scene where the store was swamped by fat sweaty nerds in Oneyplays merch screaming quotes at each other. Can you just admit you don't like it because its towards someone you like? I'm not even posting privileged information, literally anyone could have found it. I'm operating on the information that Chris himself has said, It's not like I'm revealing some secret. Better here and now where people are less likely to act on it, than some well-meaning, smoothbrain posting it on reddit where someone may. It was actually trivial to find out the info that I did. You faggots just don't like the context I posted it in.

While the Bowlbo announcement was five years ago, and without actually playing the game it's hard to tell the quality of it, I still maintain my first reaction, positively skeptical.

Chris is pouring his own time and money into the game. There has been no crowdfunding or Patreon of any sort. This makes Bowlbo a self-funded passion project. As long as it remains that way, development can take as long as it wants. We all know the quote: "It'll be out when it's out. And we like that."

Chris is also taking multiple trips a year to the Newgrounds offices. I guarantee that he is asking Tom and the rest for advice at the bare minimum. So while yes, it is his first game, he's close to people with some actual experience who won't lead him astray.

Yeah, finding the info with what was publicly available is nothing to be scolded over (especially here), and I'll give the benefit of the doubt to say this wasn't any kind of call for harassment, just a hypothetical that didn't involve tiny Hitler.

Forget all that though, I just wanna comment on them owning a store called "Deadly Discounts" and Chris mentioning how "Deadly" is slang around there. Everybody just walking around Deadly Discount and saying everything is deadly is funny.

I'm inclined to think you are right. Sonic Adventure 2 is great nostalgia, and Sega did a good job of cramming in a ton of different ways to play the game without it being too much annoyance. Plus the Chao are a good time waster too.

So many other Sonic games are just tedious and slow. Even on the Eggman/Tails stages you can feel like you are rampaging through a level quickly in SA2 (though the Knuckles/Rouge stages ARE tedious). There's a lot you can find to like in SA2, they never really made another game like it.

The day levels of Sonic Unleashed feel fast and good but they are too short. I also grew up a Mario boy so playing classic Sonic is frustrating lol every time you try to go fast on classic Sonic they put spikes and enemies in the way to punish you.

If nothing else the SA2 soundtrack is 10/10, there's something for everyone.

The Rouge and Knuckles stages are fun to explore, and have the best music.
