ONE PIECE IS GOING ON ANOTHER FUCKING BREAK AFTER THIS CHAPTER
What a great chapter, that full double page spread at the end is utterly beautiful. My only disappointment with this chapter was Law got kind of cucked on the combo attack. Kidd got to show off his new move, Luffy did his Gear 4, and Law dropped some rocks on Kaido? Pretty lame.

When you and your homies cut the cheese but no one wants to admit to it.

Oda proceeds to never change. God bless 'im.

On the topic of Law getting a bit short changed I think the problem is his capabilities in a lot of ways kind of suck combat wise for One Piece. Theoretically he has a near as darn one hit kill against people who don't have a devil fruit (or Haki, or sheer One Piece biology defiance) that specifically counters him but Oda won't use that since it's boring.

Also he did get an arc where a lot of the plot focused on him and he got to show off a lot of tricks combat wise so taking a back seat this time round may be expected. Equally he's already saved Luffy from one direct hit from Kaido when he was not ready for it which we have seen is not something that ends well if it lands. Dull as it might be Law may be in support role for this fight.

I agree, he will be best as support in this scene. If we look at what everyone did here, Luffy used Kong Gun, Kid used his new move and Law....dropped some debris. I think he's going to be instrumental in managing both Yonko and keeping everyone safe. If Luffy with precognition and training just managed to dodge Kaido's Raime Hakke...yeah, the others are probably going to need a bit of help.

I didn't even realize Shanks was in this panel until someone in r/OnePiece pointed it out. I was more stuck on Rocks to the left of him.

1002

Oda is going to make Zoro that japanese yakuza guy in the Simpsons pretzel episode, where you're waiting for him to do something cool against Kaido. I'm hoping next chapter third time's the charm.

Big Mom's lightning came across as a cheap plot device. On Skypiea it felt cheap, and to use it again to let Luffy 1v1 Kaido or make him stand out more leans too much into generic shonen when Oda has been better than that.
