Today is Jango's birthday! Here are his pixiv tags. I might as well post his character song again:

Years ago many English lyric sites were listing this song as "1, 2, Jungle", which made no sense to me.
 
My brother made a theory I'll post here (he doesn't browse Reddit, so if someone on Reddit theorized it, too, it's just coincidence).

Outside of Usopp's "You'll-Die-If-You-Go-To-That-Island disease" being an actual thing lol, he thinks Buggy couldn't see the island because he's a Devil Fruit user, and something about the island makes Fruit users sick if they get there or close to it. Far as I can tell, no other Roger Pirates are Devil Fruit users, and Buggy had to have eaten the Chop-Chop Fruit by then. Unless he's just an unlucky bastard and that's why he's so bitter because he never saw the treasure.

So it's something to keep an eye on for when we get to Laugh Tale in the future, to see if Brook, Robin, Chopper and Luffy get sick.

FYI, that you-die-if-you-believe-usopp disease wasn't actually in the original script, it was a joke added in by the translator from /a/ who did this chapter. As for your brother's theory, it's pretty likely that Buggy's just that unlucky. That and we're not close enough to Laugh Tale to see if the Devil Fruit sickness idea has any merit yet; the only thing we have on that is the weird coincidence where the only Devil Fruit users in the whole chapter (Toki and Buggy) come down with a bad fever before being able to complete the journey.

Even more interesting that no one has talked about on KF is the fact that Buggy and Shanks turned out to not know the secret like most people who read this thing thought they did. Why didn't they ever try going back on their own? (My personal guess is that Buggy's too chickenshit and Shanks never wanted to go without him.)

I still think at some point Shanks got told, as he is more or less his generations heir to Roger, we know Roger told White Beard about it..Shanks just really don't care because he isn't a D. So he can't do anything with the Information except wait. He did pop Roger's hat on Luffy's head and basically spell out "Once you are a real pirate come find me." I can see him being told what was there and not to make a rush for it because it wouldn't do anything without someone carrying the Will of D. with him.

Rayleigh was willing to just spill the beans to The Strawhats outright after ten minutes, him not telling Shanks would be a little strange considering this all seems..almost planned out by Gol D.

Buggy..I think Buggy could have gone to Laugh Tale and not actually known what the hell is going on anyways, he has always sort of been a fuck wit.
 
I read somewhere last night a theory that Teach might be out to pursue Buggy, thinking he made it to Laugh Tale.

But would Buggy really decide to side with someone like that?

My brothers talked about this about how out of all the Warlords (ex, now), the only one they can see siding with Blackbeard is Mihawk (we decided not to count ex-Warlords from before the dissolution, so yeah, Moria going to him for an alliance would've counted as a Warlord siding with him, but he lost the title after Marineford), but that's only because he just wants a good fight. Buggy would only join up with Blackbeard if he can get something out of it, but he'd jump ship once things take a turn for the worse.

But Blackbeard going after him because he potentially saw Laugh Tale would make sense since he's objectively weaker than Shanks, but I don't know if he'd really care to as an Emperor. He's most likely just waiting for someone to solve the puzzle for him so he can quietly pursue them, and thus far, that's the Strawhats.

why would Mihawk join Blackbeard? Maybe I'm wrong but I haven't thought of him having antagonistic views. He always came off as the best behaved Warlord.

Yeah if anything Mihawk's most likely to join up with Shanks given their shared history as rivals and how casual they were with each other after Luffy's first bounty came out.

Buggy is going to end up getting saved by Shanks and Shanks is going to shame him into helping Luffy get the last Road Poneglyph(Captain John's lost treasure)
Mihawk is probably just gonna show up at complete random to see how things Shake out in the War of the Throne..and gets assassinated by Shiryu.
Weevil is totally gonna end up a WG stooge by the end
Kuma is probably gonna be dead sooner or later given that he is effectively Lobotomized anyways, unless Frankly can deLobotomize him.
 
Caught up to the anime, and I just have to say I'm so glad they got Tatsuya Nagamine directing the series at the moment. The fight between Luffy and Kaido was fucking fantastic, I'd dare say it's animated and handled better than the Snakeman episode.

I think I'll have to go legit for shonen jump stuff from now on. you gotta wait a week for the viz website to get it but holy shit the early translations have been bad. there's poor translations, and there's outright fanfiction.
 
For those who aren't in the know, the mobile game One Piece Treasure Cruise: Global Version just had a massive bug yesterday where people have been receiving mail containing rewards from an event months ago, which constantly repeated itself every time you accessed the mail tab. The rewards included Rainbow Gems, the in-game currency used for everything including Rare Recruit rolls. Players have already boasted how they've accumulated 5000+ gems.

So basically, people all over the world got access to infinite money to hit the slots with. On New Year's Eve. You can see why Bandai would not be very pleased.

The glitch was recently patched out, but for some reason, there is no rollback; every player still have their gems and characters obtained from the exploit.

I personally rolled until I could finally get Vivi and Rebecca as a dual unit character (see below) and stopped afterwards. However, they are ill-gotten gains, and thus are suspect to investigation and consequent removal. However, the devs are planning to investigate individual accounts on a case-by-case basis, rather than a simple rollback to before the glitch took place.

I suspect that the game doesn't actually have a rollback state, which would be bizarre considering how big the game is, especially the Japanese version. Furthermore, hours earlier on the same day I got Luffy and Law (also see below) as a dual unit character through legitimate means, which would be very annoying if they deemed it appropriate for removal. But yeah, New Year's Eve of 2020 is probably one of the most infamous moments of the game's history, perhaps even one of the biggest blunders in all of gacha games.

They do legitimately have interesting mechanics. But yeah, it was the boobs.

Still is considered one of the most powerful units even in the Japanese version, which is several months ahead of Global.

Because the devs have decided to enact such a bizarre method to resolve the exploit, I'm going to make a little gamble by investing legitimate power-up items into Vivi & Rebecca, and only use them out of the other units I've obtained. My account can either:
  • Be stripped of the characters and rewards obtained from the bugged mail system (the expected outcome)
  • Have several of my characters that I have obtained legitimately also removed as well (also a likely outcome, given the occasional displays of incompetence by the company)
  • Have a very light slap on the wrist because the devs are feeling charitable and don't mind me keeping the characters (preferred but veeeeeery unlikely)
  • Be outright banned because I care more about anime tiddles than my account's safety (what I'm risking)
I'm ashamed to say that I've spent an inordinate amount of time and money on OPTC, so if I get banned, I can finally be free from this gacha grind. No game lasts forever no matter how invested I am in it, so might as well rip that band-aid sooner than later.
