Ikkaku, the only female member of the Heart Pirates, has her birthday today.

Today is Kelly Funk's birthday. I think he has the weirdest Devil Fruit ability.

Today is Edward Weevil's birthday. It's also the birthday of quadruplets Amande, Mondee, Hachee, and Effilee.

Good Joy Boy video. With it being slow news time, it's great to be reminded of things that went down at WCI, and how it correlates to Wano.

The Yeti Cool Brothers, Scotch and Rock, celebrate their birthday today.

Don Chinjao and Nezumi have their birthdays today.

I get that this is several decades in the past, Mr. 2 probably hasn't even been born yet. But it kinda feels like lazy writing to bring the Face Cloning fruit in like this. Especially since this creepy looking weirdo came out of nowhere.

I'm sure Oda could have thought up a better way for Orochi to usurp the throne.

The wait for this one fucking killed me.

Fingers crossed Toei adds more scene with Oden and Toki, I wanna see more of their interactions together. But how cool that Momonosuke and Hiyori were born at sea on the Moby Dick. That explains why Momonosuke says he saw Roger, he was out at sea with his dad from the very beginning.

Orochi is a fucking snake. I honestly can't remember the last time Oda made such a despicable villain.

I think this is as good as it gets for Orochi-- his ego is so goddamned big because people who are smarter than he is directed him and covered his ass at all turns when he should've fallen on his face. He's never done shit on his own. He's hiding behind Kaidou in the present day because he doesn't have the power to do shit himself. He had to work with this mystery person, the existence of whom is fucking huge, because she not only is a Wano native with a Devil Fruit (a combination that has no reason to exist at this point in time), she has an unusual amount of knowledge of Wano history (assuming it wasn't a distorted version told to motivate Orochi), and (this is the big one), she's been outside of the country, and came back with a repertoire of faces, one of whom is a young Gold Lion Shiki (I didn't recognize him at first, though I knew I saw that fucking face somewhere), which presents some interesting implications.

Also the Clone-Clone Fruit being in Wano at this time explains certain things that have happened up to this point:
-Orochi got into Sukiyaki's employ because said person pretended to be Oden to vouch for him
-Oden probably didn't even give Orochi money one of the times he asked, it was probably the other person in disguise at one point which is how he'd get Oden's face saved
-Orochi definitely killed Sukiyaki right after their last meeting, before he went out to sea with Whitebeard
-We now have a good idea why they were able to do whatever it was they did to frame Oden as a criminal after bringing order to Kuri.

This whole chapter brings up new questions and stuff though:
-If Orochi didn't plan out his takeover with Kaidou, then when the hell did Kaidou enter the equation? We already know the why, but not the when or how.
-The old witch is obviously dead in present day, question is, when and how?
-We're about to see the big fight between Roger and Whitebeard that gave Whitebeard the big scar on his chest. Roger seems to have adopted a fatalist attitude in response to being terminally ill (maybe this is why he smiled so damn much, he thought he might die each day?) and is expecting to go down fighting Whitebeard. Where in his journey is he at?
-How did Oden move from the Whitebeard Pirates to the Roger Pirates? Dogstorm and Cat Viper painted it as something that happened amicably, but we've got a setup for something savage about to happen.
-Roger looks slightly less like Ace than he did in the previous chapter and is moving towards how he usually does (dark circles under his eyes, crazy, etc), so whatever was killing him (combined with how crazy it made him) definitely did a number on him.
-We're definitely getting a hint to the One Piece in this flashback, as not even becoming a family man convinced Oden to return to Wano, yet once Roger's journey is finished, he's done a complete 180 from "I want to leave this place" to "Leaving was foolish and irresponsible". The fuck caused that?
-Oden was the first Second Division commander, which was easy enough to infer before this chapter, but did they really leave it open for over 20 years?
- @Kari Kamiya I'll give you this: an orphan makes his way into the good graces of those more powerful than him and bides his time as he plots to take power and take out those who helped him. Am I describing Orochi or Blackbeard (who joined Whitebeard this chapter)?

This is pretty far into the journey, Roger begins his journey on the same year that Momosuke is born, he could very well have hit the "end" of the grand line already, and meeting Oden/Inu/Cat is the clue he needed to head to Zou.

Charlotte Noisette and Nerine of the Kuja Pirates have their birthdays today.

On another note, I am finally caught up on the manga, so I can better enforce the @darkhorse816 rule.

Wow, they upped the animation budget for the Luffy/Kaido fight from $0 to $10. Looking nice.
Yeah and they gave us a real fight in the Dragon Form as opposed to it just getting one shot, making Luffy pull out Elephant Gatling to take the Dragon Form Down is a nice touch.

Triplets Moscato, Mash, and Cornstarch have their birthday today.

On another note, here's some cute fanart from 2009.

Unpopular opinion: the 4kids voice actors were generally better than the Funi ones. Maybe it’s because I heard the 4kids voices first. But I actually liked the random accents they’d give certain characters. It gave it a more worldly feel. Like they’re traveling all around the world and meeting tons of new people from exotic places, so you’d expect them to talk differently.

That being said, the censorship was lame in general. I can kind of understand the idea behind it since it was being marketed towards kids, but kids loved Dragonball Z and that had a shit ton of violence and blood.
