>tfw your mystery prisoner theory fails badly

Ah, we saw that Elephant Smile user last chapter.. I never had much thought into who that mystery prisoner was. Guess there's no Big Mom this chapter.

And something just occurred to me. It relates to why I have such a hard time remembering the common names of people in Wano (what is Tengu-Man's name? Kyoshiro? Or is that the Salary Man?).

I just realized this because some very gracious Japanese soul has been uploading old Kamen Rider and Metal Heroes episodes, A+ quality and professional subtitles. I've been waiting to see high-quality professional subs of Spielban for over a Decade!

But suddenly, it occurred to me that this is why I have trouble with feudal Japan, watching so many of these types of shows! Take Spielban and its sister show Metalder ("sister" because both were used for VR Troopers), both are easy to say for English speakers but have nothing to do with a proper description. Spielban is derived from Spielberg the famous Director, but how does that describe a Water-based Tokusatsu hero?

Metalder has two air-military based enemies named Strobe and Barbery. What the hell does those terms have to do with what they are?

A Feminine looking robot with a face derived from the Scream painting. Her name is Lortail.

To make an autistic point more short, these words are easy to roll out my tongue. Its like Japan really was so out of reach with the rest of the world that when they became more open after WWII, they made shit easy to say like "Kimba" and "Mach" for its anime's . ("Mach" being the name of the Speed Racer original show)

@TrippinKahlua so you have trouble remembering the names of people in Wano because they use native Japanese and not borrowed words (or the gibberish romanization you've described in your post)? Am I getting that right?

Today's birthdays:
  • Gyoru (the fishmonger in Windmill Village)
  • the Minozebra

Why do all the Mino-Guards have birthdays so close to each other?

Queens bounty has trounced Katakuris as highest non-Yonko bounty (if we don't count Luffy) we know of... Which means that Kings is equal or higher based on their interaction. Yikes. This is without knowing his devil fruit... I'm guessing an Ancient, much like the other two headliners. Anyone who can talk down to a billion level fighter like Jack is a seriously bad dude.

Luffy is about on par with 1 billion in terms of fighting prowess, and it took everything for him to beat Katakuri. If Kaido has three billion-level fighters at his side, the Straw Hats will need some SERIOUS firepower to smack them down. Where's a training montage when you need one?

Haha, thats what you get for slacking off Raizou.
  • Aaaaand now Law, Ussop and Franky are suddenly in poor town.
  • "Oniwabanshu?" "Fukurokujo?" are these names we're supposed to know already? See, the problem isn't that these names are oriental, its that there are so many of them its so hard to keep things in track.

Yeah, this chapter was kinda boring. But at least we got some new Smile Users.

BUT WHERE IS SPEED!

Aaaaand now Law, Ussop and Franky are suddenly in poor town.
Showing them in transit would just bog things down. This is probably gonna be expanded on in the Anime.

The Oniwabanshu are the ninja squad that faced Robin a few chapters back, Fukurokujo is their leader.

But last I even remember Laws group, they were watching Sanji vs Page One. Now suddenly they are here in poor town, happened to miss Zoro again (who himself is really the off-screen VIP right now).

So many things are being off screened this arc.

-technically that smoke was caused by a fire..
-Ha, Solitaire's a spider-monkey.
-Raizo's finally done his part. And confirmed to be one of the Nine Red Scabbards
-Luffy's kicking face, and the scorpion dude Daifugo is a headliner, too.
-I wonder if it's possible to train to a point where even devil fruit powers can bypass the negating effects of seastone. Luffy CAN still stretch when underwater (see: Arlong Park)
-Old Maid looks both more intimidating and impressive than Holdem. And he looks like an oni mask, to boot. And might actually be stronger but we won't know that for sure until Luffy's cuffs are off.
-Queen is as flamboyant as he is fat, and he's doesn't appear to be an okama like I thought he was
-Old Maid is hilariously chill about all this, Queen's freaking out, this is like watching a reality show
-Tonoyasu has met up with the Strawhats who've fled the flower capital, and caught them up with Zorojuro's disappearance. Who stole his sword and which one? And even he's picked up on Zorojuro's horrible sense of direction
-MEANWHILE, AT THE WOMEN'S BATH--
-..or rather, the unisex bathouse..
-People are discussing the old yakuza days, and compare Kyoshiro with Hyougoro.
-Hyougoro the Flower used to look intimidating. Did old age and jail weaken him? Goddamn. At least we now know he was always benevolent, and not humbled by jail time.
-I think @neural's "Oden is still alive" boner might show again
-Shinobu is a rogue from the Oniwabanshu, who used to be Kozuki allies. Was their change of allegiance a case of picking the winning side? Or were they scared of Kaido?
-Even Queen's shocked at what's become of Hyougoro. And Raizo's just a little bit late to the party.
-The prisoners didn't know who Grandpa Hyou really was? Hmm...
-That prisoner that @neural thought was Oden is really one of the 3 powerful samurai that the alliance is searching for. Holy shit.
Haha, thats what you get for slacking off Raizou.

Yes we got those names in the chapter where
O-Soba Mask made his epic debut and Big Mom's fat whale ass washed up on shore.

And they've been in Ebisu Town since chapter 934, there's nothing sudden about it.

Yeah @Mr. 0 sorry for my bias against things I am not follow too hard like Big Mom and Sanji, I never have much time to re-read chapters.

I'm for sure gonna be watching the anime.

So I decided to pick up the anime again after finding out about One Pace essentially being the DBZ Kai equivalent of One Piece, and oh my god am I now really fully realizing just how slow this damn thing is, I already found it sluggish before hence I why dropped it after Luffy vs Sanji and switched over to the manga. But now knowing 2 manga chapters takes up about 3-4 anime episodes just baffles me.

Whole Cake Island arc has additional content in the anime iirc. Nothing critical iirc, just additional clarifications and more fleshing out of scenes.

I believe they started adding those in after the timeskip.

Btw, watch the big fight of the arc in the anime, or find a compilation, it's really well done there.

I don't know about you guys, but King reminds me of Magellan for some reason. It's probably just appearances, but I wouldn't put it past Oda to make him his older brother or something.
