Today's the birthday of the only female member of the Heart Pirates, Ikkaku! I actually learned her name from Pixiv.

To be entirely honest, it's kind of a lame chapter this week, the break makes it even worse.

Eh.
I'm just happy that Robin, Franky and Usopp got to meet back up with one of the Straw Hats after so long. I also think it's kinda hilarious that they just can't stay out of trouble--Usopp and Robin getting the fuck out of the way so they don't lose their noodles is so on-point lol.

But it looks like we may have finally got a name for that kitsune-mask lady, Komurasaki. She also appears to be really tall. Hancock's got competition from the sounds of it.

BIG NEWS!

Apparently, starting December 17th 2018, Shonen Jump will transition completely to digital publication. Access will be completely free for the last 3 chapters of all series, with a $1.99/mo subscription allowing access to everything Shonen Jump ever published in English.

This pretty much changes the game for how spoilers/scanlations are released, given that the leakers relied on bookstores/magazine stands getting the issues early.

As a non-US citizen, I just hope that Shueisha/Viz don't fuck this up w.r.t regional access. Because I would love to support the creators, especially when it's this good of a deal.

Edit 2: It seems this is only affecting the US edition. Japanese scans should be fine for now.

Wait, this is affecting the monthly book right? The trades are still being released in paperback? (Not that the motherfuckers are in reach of me locally)

The last chapter was pretty much a snore to me.

Artur, on the other hand, seems to be taking his time with the Chapter Secrets which I've been waiting for in particular so I can know what the hell was going on.

Probably not much, but Tekking did a year in review, so that's a little something to go looking back on how awesome this year has been for One Piece.

God damn it.

I thought of something a few days ago but only now just remembered it. The last chapter of 2018 should have been what went into chapter 924. It would have been the perfect way to end the year and 925 would have been the best thing to kick off the new year and get people hyped up.

I really hope they start talking about my man blackbeard again. They keep teasing him with the the Moriah scene and attacking the revolutionaries but I wanna see him back in the story.

Today is Pica's birthday!

I actually saw this episode after watching the first episode of Pop Team Epic, so I recognized the voice as Yuji Mitsuya's.

With this break being right after a lackluster episode, I really hope more extreme shit is coming in the new years.

I'm kinda bored of One Piece right now, if only new English episodes would come out.

OK, so let's talk about a rumor I saw floating around on Twitter:

Rumor has it that the OP Editor, Naito, said in this week's SJ issue that Wano Act 2 ends next week with Chapter 928!

If this is true, then that would be a very rapid end to the act (3-4 chapters only), this means that Wano is progressing at a very, very break-neck pace. Are we speeding into the war arc?

Personally, I am hoping that we finally find out the identity of the mysterious prisoner as the act's curtains close.

That does make sense. Artur has elaborated and suggested there could be up to seven or so acts.

Sounds about right. Wano's following the jo-ha-kyū of kabuki theater, in which the first act, jo, starts slow to build up the setting, then ha speeds things up, and kyū is a quick conclusion after the final act. Also worth noting is battles tend to happen anywhere from the second act to fourth act, meanwhile, there's great drama/tragedy in the third act.

Sounds like we better start getting the tissues ready.
