I started watching OP with my mom back in Junior High. We're still watching it on/off.
It's weird that she enjoys anime but it's also really neat?? Not a lot of people can say they have parents who watch/enjoy anime.
She works in law too so she's super serious but you give her FMA:BH and she cries like a baby.

Lucky motherfucker, you better treasure it well.

I've sometimes wondered what it'd be like to have one or both parents be into something like One Piece, but the longest anime I've ever got my parents to watch was CLANNAD, which is the closest they'll ever get to having some kind of attachment to an anime not Studio Ghibli. My grandmother's more willing to watch an anime with me 'cause quality time/we share a love of movies and anime movies are everywhere now, but I can't see her getting into a long-running series at all. Even then, I think the one thing that'd turn the both of them off are how the female characters are drawn and the occasional (censored) nudity, they're sticklers about that, and Mom actually got suspicious about it due to an out-of-context thumbnail featuring Nami and Vivi in the bath on a YouTube video about censorship in the 4KIDS dub.

At least I got my brothers, although I have a long-term goal of getting someone outside of my family into the series. Now my brother got a little interested in a girl from church who served a mission in Japan (Gifu prefecture), and when they went on a date, one of the first things she brought up/asked was (paraphrasing) "What's this 'One Piece', anyway? I saw it everywhere and everyone I met in Japan was talking about it." Not sure how much he talked to her about it, but she was at least aware of its existence despite not being into anime.

Though maybe she brought it up only because he has a Chopper wallet and he wore a Chopper T-shirt to Japanese class once and she remembered. Some girl had also complimented him about it months ago when we went to a McDonald's, so I joke to him his wallet could be a chick magnet.

Its been a while but now that tourism season has winded down, I need me some One Piece Marathon!

Always enjoy rewatching the entire Baroque Works Saga. Currently at the beginning of Drum Kingdom. Drum Kingdom is one of my favorite arcs of the earlier years. I LOVE snow, and seeing this beautiful landscape is just total scenery porn, and that shot of the Cherry Blossoms on the mountain at the end of the arc is just beautiful when watching at night.

Chopper's introduction really grew on me over the years. How he told to Kureha about Luffy calling him his friend, and of course, Chopper denying that he wants to go with the Straw Hats right until Luffy says "SHUT UP! LETS GOOOOO!" That was such a beautiful moment, when Chopper finally cracks and realizes these people have accepted him.

It all helps that Brina Palencia is my all-time favorite actor on One Piece. Her voice is just soooooo beautiful. I absolutely love her songs when she sings for Openings and Endings.

Bon Clay needs to come back, badly. My brothers believe he could be a Straw Hat, and I wouldn't disagree with it. However, I think he'd be happy to just be an ally and come flying to Luffy's aid with a cry of "STRAW BOOOOOOY" at the first call.

Chapter 914 Okobare Town

One Piece 914 Spoiler was translated by BakaData

The medicine is working and Tama is recovering. Kiku is treating Zoro’s wounds. Kiku uses the word “sessha” instead of I and she’s almost 3 meters tall. Tsuru wants to Tama to eat “Shiruko” but as she doesn’t have any money, Tama refuses to eat it. Then Tsuru says, if Tama isn’t going to eat it then she will throw it away. After Tama eats the Shiruko, she cries because it’s so delicious.

20 years ago, the Kozuki clan was living in the Oden castle and were ruling the Wano kingdom. The now deceased Oden created a huge plantation and provided everyone in Kuri delicious food. The plantation now belong to Orochi, and Tsuru and the rest purchase the rotten ingredients from them. After Tsuru reveals the internal circumstances of Wano, someone aims an arrow at Tsuru. Zoro blocks the arrow with his katana. The one who shot the arrow is one of the Gifters who has eaten the bat SMILE and became a batman. He’s using the wings of a bat and is flying. His hearing is 6 times greater than an average human, so he wanted to kill Tsuru who insulted the Shogun. One arrow after another is aimed at Tsuru, but Zero blocks all of them. As they were distracted by the batman, another gifter who has eaten the Gazelle SMILE abducts Tama . And in order to rescue Tama, Kiku takes a katana with her and follows the gazelleman. Luffy and Zoro go with her. The gazelleman is heading to the official’s town and Hawkins, Holdem, and Speed as well as 30 other SMILE users are waiting. Luffy asks who exactly Kiku is, and she answers, “I (sessha) am a Samurai!”. After Law hears from Bepo that Luffy and the rest are heading to the official’s town, he says “Hey wait! That’s nothing but trouble! We’ve to stop these idiots!”

Good. Finally getting to some real action. Sure, last Chapter had some good Hawkins action, but that still led to Luffy and Zoro not moving around much.

Apparently, Kizaru's voice actor, Unsho Ishizuka, has passed away.

*sigh*

Awwww yiiiiiiis Law's back. Law's sorely missed.

Also, hopping aboard the Kiku hype, I wanna see some female samurai action.

I like that Oda pretty much used him as a stealthy 'I will never wash this hand again' creepy stalker joke.

I thought he was a subtle shout-out to Curley from Of Mice and Men for some reason because of that glove. I don't know why Decken having a vaseline-filled glove would be funny, probably 'cause he's the exact opposite of Curley, I guess.
