NIDAI KITETSU!

Also, is Luffy gonna use the sword?
One can only hope.
Also I'm seeing a lot of parallels with the Spade Pirates flashbacks and Luffy's experience with Shanks back in the very first chapter.
Also Drake is still a sellout-ass bitch.
And I wonder how they're gonna resolve the "Ace is dead but Tama refuses to believe thing".

I'm gonna take a gamble and say that cursed sword will end up in Zoro's posession.
And about Tama - I guess Luffy will do the same thing he did with Laboom and promise her that she can join his crew when she's grown up into an "enchanting kunoichi".

Can I just say that I adore the cover page?

Anyhoo suspense! Think the two biggest things we learned in this chapter is Ace promised the little girl she could join his crew when she got older (if Luffy inherited everything of Ace's he'd make her the same promise as well, most likely), and Luffy touched a fucking cursed sword and is going to use it. Ohhhhh shiiiiiiiit why'd there have to be a break?

Wait, is Hitetsu actually a doll collector lmao. I hope we'll get to see it.

Sorry for the double-post, but I just came across this from another forum and am stealing/cross-posting it to here. This may have been rather recent, a Google image search pulled up like a couple of non-English(?) links to it, but it looks like another interview from Oda.

DihNSYpXUAATb26.jpg

  • One Piece was rejected twice before the first chapter was published.
  • Oda doesn't feel like he's carrying the burden of being the headliner of Jump. He's just happy that so many people are reading his magazine. However he does strive to write more interesting stories.
  • He says he feels a strong sense of responsibility. If OP ended and his editors asked him to continue, he wouldn't want to. Ending it is his freedom.
  • Shanks is described as the leader of the Red Haired Pirates and a Yonkou who gave the hat to Luffy
  • One Piece manga is described as 'Chasing after the One Piece treasure left by the Pirate King, Luffy went out to sea! His many adventures are popular both inside and out of Japan!'
  • He says it is 'very lonely' now that Kishimoto, who published alongside him for 15 years is no longer doing so.
  • He says he and Kishimoto are the same age and their mangas became a hit around the same time, they have a lot in common.
  • However he says that even between mangaka who have known each other a long time, there are some things you can't say to each other if the popularity of your manga differs
  • However he says that he and Kishimoto often see eye to eye, they worry about the same things and both put a lot of effort into their work
  • Even if there appears a mangaka whose work catches up to One Piece's in popularity and scope, the only one he feels he will always share the same views with is Kishimoto.
  • He says that even though Kishimoto isn't publishing anymore, they still chat and Kishimoto listens to his complaints
  • He says that people are now enjoying different kinds of magazines, and it's less common for everyone to be reading the same manga
  • Oda thinks this is a shame, he used to bond with people over reading Dragon Ball. He says manga can build bonds between people, especially magazines such as Jump that people read in their childhoods
  • he wonders if different magazines and mangas can come together like the Avengers.
  • when he reads Jump nowadays he feels like he doesn't understand some of the mangas, thinking like a grandfather would.
  • He's aware of this and wants to take countermeasures against it. He says the competition is not about being right, but rather whether your manga is embraced by the audience. As a result he says that if One Piece loses out to them, he will do a bit more research but that hasn't happened yet, he's been winning so far.
In a separate interview Oda states that One Piece is 80% done.
Jimbei is apart of the crew, but has not appeared on color spreads for spoilers. There will be at least one more person joining the crew after Jimbei.

Thoughts?

I was just about to post these two points.

  • For the 1st one, I don't think this means that the end is right around the corner, because Oda has been kinda fuzzy on those %s before, and he already professed that he struggles because he wants to include every idea he gets into it.
  • For the 2nd one, I think that
Jinbe will get maimed in some way in his fight with Big Mom, maybe he will lose an appendage, an eye or even some of his lifespan.

He's said in the past he was "half-way done" before the actual halfway point. Oda is shit with his estimates; he believed the story would be completed in about 5 years, Ace was intended to die 1 year after he was introduced, the Going Merry went under a couple of years after it was said it was going to, etc.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if it came out that Jimbei was killed in his fight with Big Mom and her group, it would re-add a bit of unpredictability (like when Ace and Whitebeard actually died, and not in a flashback). But that's just me.

@Kari Kamiya it was you. your the one who's been stealing shit from arlong park

Also this

1. There were two Romance Dawn chapters before the manga proper kicked off...
2. Ha. Oda's getting old, and he's not even old.

But isn't that what pirates are supposed to do?

Nah, I stole it from elsewhere. The person I'm stealing posts from off-site is most likely the one stealing things from Arlong Park (is there like a theft epidemic going on right now, I don't check out Arlong Park lol). So I'm like second-hand stealing it or whatever.

Well, Arlong Park is where I found this when trying to find where you got it from. You pirate scum

Its always a bit hard for me to enjoy the beginning of each and every arc because of how quick things are paced.

But come on Oda, why is everyone from the Super Novas working for Kaido? First Drake, then Apoo, and now my favorite of the Rookies? I mean, I wasn't really expecting Basil to be an ally of Luffy's, but it just seems awfully cliche for him to be under Kaido as well. At least there's potential for the Straw Hats to liberate Captain Kidd, and he'd likely become their ally for obvious reasons.

Today's the birthday of the clumsy cinnamon roll that is Commander Rosinante, aka Corazon!

*Takes a deep, calming breath, and reminds self to not go full autistic*

Okay, nobody wants to know what I thought of Rosinante. I know I'm the only One Piece fan who absolutely hated him. I don't give a fuck who he was, how evil Doflamingo was, what happened to his family, the kind of dumbass decision their father made.

I just HATE when a brother betrays you. Even if its happening for a good cause. Rosinante was full of deception. Doffy loved him through and through.

I can remember that time during the Flashback on that winter island where Law ate the Opi Opi Fruit. After all was said and done, Rosinante just wanted to rest and relax. He gave Law a specific order. To hand a Marine Soldier a capsule containing a message and return. Do NOT bring the Marine back. He specifically said that. But nope, dumbass kid Law disobeyed. And really, that moment when it was shown that the random Marine Soldier that Law ran into was none other but Vergo. I screamed and my computer "GOOD!"

Hooh boy, I'm not even gonna continue with this rant. I know all about why Rosinante was how he was. He was a loving person. But he didn't seem to notice that nothing was actually Doflamingo's fault. It was Homing's fault.

I mean, I wasn't really expecting Basil to be an ally of Luffy's, but it just seems awfully cliche for him to be under Kaido as well.

I'm under the impression Hawkins just wants to talk to Luffy and will only fight if he has to, or if the cards say so. Kaido seems to intimidate people into joining his crew, and the cards had to have told him he'd live if he complied with him (just assuming that he uses fortunetelling to make all of his decisions). If anything, though, this would be a good chance to get to learn about his abilities more, especially his Devil Fruit.

I do think Apoo needs more screentime, however. He has one of the more unique designs in the series and I want to see more of him in action.

At least there's potential for the Straw Hats to liberate Captain Kidd, and he'd likely become their ally for obvious reasons.

Kidd was introduced a nasty fellow, and he's most likely going to remain a nasty fellow, so I'm not expecting him to become a Straw Hat ally. But who knows.
