I bought Blue Deep a few weeks ago and that inspired me to start updating this thread with character birthdays.

Luffy's behavior here reminds me of his character in the very first Romance Dawn chapter (pre-One Piece).
 
Oda is trying too damn hard to farm those :feels: ratings.

He went from zero to complete over the top bullshit tragedy in an instant.

I actually like the idea that it suddenly got personal for Luffy, and it actually ties into Ace making the hat for Oars Jr., he probably picked up that skill from there.

Also, Whiteboard already mentioned that someone (Luffy) will not only pick-up Roger's will, but Ace's will as well, and whatever Ace promised this girl is probably his own inherited will.

I also firmly expect the Hawkins/Luffy encounter to be quick, probably ending with a temporary alliance to topple Kaido.

I could also argue that it's oddly contrived/coincidental for Luffy to end up in a place that allowed him to encounter this girl who knew Ace, but the entire series has proven that Luffy is incredibly lucky, and that destiny is what connects them all together. Ace having had a previous connection with this little girl is only a small part of what's going to occur on Wano, which apparently has been building up for decades in-story, but that, him meeting back up with his crew, and the promise to Momonosuke to defeat Kaido are what's going to be Luffy's main focus for what's coming up. Who knows if the war with Kaido will be on Wano or not, but there's definitely much more to this than meets the eye.

Personally, I'm just curious about what dark secrets will be unveiled in Wano. So apparently the rivers have been poisoned from the factories, but are they more of the artificial Devil Fruits or is this something more sinister? Does it have any connection to the emperor, or was this in response to Kaido taking over? How much ugly is hidden beneath this beautiful country? Is Shiki going to show up?

Think there should be like a betting pool or something for about how long Wano's going to be? From the sounds of it, this could easily be another arc of WCI/Dressrosa length, or be another instance of Jaya and Skypeia where Wano just seamlessly leads into the Kaido War.

Forgot to post yesterday that Helmeppo needs more love. I'm honestly hoping Oda has some plans for him in the up-coming future, I feel like he hasn't done much since Marineford, if at all.

Also all of these birthdays means have a relevant silly fan-comic, even though this would be more fitting to post on Ace's birthday (that he shares with Oda lol nice).

Nah don't mind me, I'm almost done catching up with the anime anyway, just a bit slow to binge-watch lately. I've only known of Mother Caramel by name, I just don't know much else about her. Least I got something to look forward to when I get to her.

It starts in episode 836, I believe simulcast anime watchers just finished episode 845.

The Big Mom flashback is legit one of the better done ones in the series. You will surely enjoy it.

Matter of fact, most of the Whole Cake arc was great.

I like how totally insane Big Mom was. I think that was part of what made the funny parts about her funny.

Like how she reacted to Brook supposedly dying when she woke up after sleeping with him. :coster:
