Oda saying that romance between the Straw Hats is non-existent didn't deter the shippers from doing their thing. It's just that for a time, short as it was, the shippers at least understood it was just for fun.

I don't interact with other One Piece shippers at all, I just like the art and fics I choose to find and indulge in and move on. Simple as.

At least Roger is a pirate. The ‘good guys’ in some stories have the Achilles heel of caring about civilians and innocent lives. Garp? He eats senbei in front of starving slaves and galaxy impacts them for trying to get crumbs. Coby does some Congo-tier shit to keep people in line. Helmleppo’s visor exists to blind him from the horrors he commits.

Seriously, at this point Garp and Coby exist in that realm of people lying to themselves about how evil they are. You can’t argue with them because they cannot admit their problem. Remember that Coby is as fraudulent as Garp and Smoker. Alvida should of spared the world by killing him.

you really could make an entire side anime centered around the navy and the varying viewpoints of what is and is not seen as good and just. for every person in the navy that seems to be genuine and just wants to protect people there are 4 others who are either cowards who just follow orders or are just pure evil.

Sooo what's the bet Dragon will tell his dad straight to his face he will quit the Marines after this travesty which will lead to Garp beating the living shit out of him and Dragon just saying "Bye Dad I am off!" I mean Dragon seems to be the only one who at least has a conscience in that family (well Luffy has it too but he isn't exactly focused on bringing the whole world down). Also kinda funny: Dragon saves Shanks who then later down the line saves Luffy and sets Luffy on the path of piracy
