Last time any of them witnessed anything from the Celestial Dragons was Sabody (I'm sure there were brief run ins but that was a defining moment). Luffy knocked one on the floor and Zoro straight up walked up to a guy not knowing who he was. They either don't like them off basic principals or don't really care that much.

the straw hats already know how bad the celestial dragons are though. they know what happened to robin and what was allowed to happen to wano and dressrosa. and on egghead they had first hand experience seeing that the elders are all monsters. they dont need some big human hunt type event to prove how evil their enemies are. if they dont know by now they never will and this is not even including elbaf.

Honestly, I’d say it’s probably going to be a mix. Well probably get Jinbe being the one to go on about the horrible things the CDs do, along with maybe Robin calling out the CDs for having the WG be their lapdogs, Nami and Sanji going off about how the CDs act like dicks because…they can, Chopper, Usopp, and Brookhetting caught up in some kind of antics that end up showing some big lore behind the scenes because Oda would do something like that, and Luffy and Zoro would probably hear about things but they’re just operating on different degrees of “Okay, whose shit do I have to wreck?”

But as always, this looks to be endgame stuff because there’s always a sense of questioning just how the CDs got to act like they do, and what’s going to happen once their structure is challenged, let alone destroyed.

Even with that, the SHs are still focused on helping Luffy with reaching Laugh Tale. And even then, it’s probably going to take an incident like Ace or Vivi being held prisoner for him to get involved, much like how Roger only headed off to God Valley because he learned Shakky had been kidnapped and taken to God Valley.

The whole of One Piece (at least after the timeskip) has been all about learning about the greater mysteries and intrigues of the world, while Luffy goes through them in blissful ignorance.

(Also, thanks for reminding me that Elbaf has gone to such shit while Luffy is being a thick headed idiot who refuses to listen to anybody. Loki has been chained up for a good reason, and Loki straight up said he doesn’t want to be a member of the Straw Hats, but Luffy won’t budge or move on because he’s a dense motherfucker.)

Yeah they're already vert aware of how evil these people are they don't need extra details to confirm what they already know. If anything the Hunting Competition is for our benefit the audience and for extra backstory for characters like Dragon.

Yeah it’s mostly for the audience, and to show what God Valley really was, since it’s looking to answer a number of things. All the CDs are there for is to be massive dicks.

Honestly the hunting competition is a distraction. Look at Garlands comments about god valley and why he chose that place.

"I just so happened to be exploring the island that Rocks came from, where his child is, that just so happens to be full of Davy Jones bloodline, it is also full of rare resources..."

I don't see "man this place has lots of cool places for slaves to hide, it would be a cool spot to have a human hunt it would be challenging" on this list.

It certainly sounds like it’s leading to a reason why the WG would be willing to censor info about God Valley, besides what’s already been established.

i feel like if thats the case its going to need to be something that both blackbeard and luffy would care about. im not entirely sure what that would be though.
 
Caught up on the dozen chapters I was behind on yesterday. I don't like how the God's Knights can just heal from all injuries (that was a persistent annoyance with me reading so much manga this past half-decade), and Shakky is really boring and obnoxious with how zero-note her joke is. But the Loki flashback is very entertaining and it's really fun to not only see Roger as an also-ran that's getting tarred and feathered by the fandom for saving the lives of Celestial Dragons, but to have Moon Man from Moon Man Doom take a prominent role as a flashback villain.

Blackbeard’s whole thing has been using the system to get what he wants and to advance in the world, like capturing Ace to get the position of warlord, then coming to Marineford with his status to take Whitebeard’s devil fruit, then leaving the warlord to take Whitebeard’s remaining territory and becoming a Yonko. Now he’s set up shop at Hachinosu and is trying to get it as a kingdom aligned with the World Government. What’s after that, I don’t know.

Luffy it’s something simple: all he needs is to either save one of his friends or have it be the next step in some plan that’ll get him closer to being pirate king. The only real thing to do is to tie it all back to the bigger things of lore and what Whitebeard talked about in his last speech before he died, especially considering Oda’s approach to things.

Luffy and Blackbeard will be involved because Imu can not allow a second trip to Laugh Tale.

You don't slaughter children trying to get Roger's child because Laugh Tale isn't a direct threat to Imu's power base.

Edit : Shit, what is Imu doing right now in the current arc. He is trying to grab ahold of an army because Luffy is 3/4s of the way to getting the map and both Shanks and Blackbeard are starting to move.

Imu kidnapping the Giant Children to force Elbaf into the War is kind of desperate.
