You'll excuse me if I don't pretend like Oda's mystery box bullshit has some deep meaning.

I get that the entire series is a giant cock tease for the One Piece, but the "Luffy's dream" sequence is an especially annoying example of Oda's terrible mystery box writing. Luffy's dream allegedly drives his every action throughout the series and, most importantly, now in the endgame. It would be nice to know what that dream is NOW so that when Luffy is inevitably faced with a dilemma, we'll know why he makes the decision that he does. But Oda, being the hack writer that he is, is going to have Luffy make the decision and then retcon any inconsistencies in Luffy's characterization with flashbacks to the "Luffy's dream" scene.

I'm not usually down on the series, but all the mystery box/man in shadows/"HE IS COMING" bullshit is so goddamn tiresome.
There’s two issues: 1. Luffy says he needs The One Piece and the title of Pirate King to make it happen, and 2. It’s the exact same dream Roger had, so it has to be this big, profound thing that made Roger realize he was “too early” when he found the treasure on Laugh Tale, and also be something so simple and/or stupid that someone like Luffy could want a dream like that (Although when Luffy beat Kaido, he said he dreamed of a world where everyone could eat as much as they want., ) Koby made a declaration about stopping Luffy from achieving his dream.

I’ve always said that the thing about the endgame Oda is doing is having it play out slowly, because everything about the lore plays into each other, including the treasure. And ever since Gear 5 became a thing, the whole thing is learning more about HOW everything is connected, and that Luffy is key to figuring out the questions that need to be answered, but doesn’t know or care, with Oda still writing Luffy like the same kid with a hat he was back in East Blue, just with a lot more powers and an actual reputation as a pirate.

I don’t think Luffy will ever wise up to the bigger things at play, no matter how many times somebody tells him to stop being a naive idiot operating on blissful ignorance. So at most, I predict the play is to have Luffy declare what his real dream is, and Oda will end the series with the Straw Hats celebrating achieving their dreams, and then Luffy going off to make his real dream a reality.

Luffy knows a bit more about the "bigger thing at play" than people give him credit for, even if he does not care as much as he should (and some times he is just an idiot). Also, I think that the crew will stick around long enough to help Luffy with his real dream too.

The series will absolutely end with all of the shit dealt with, the Straw Hats no longer having any "goal" anymore. So, Luffy sits at the mast of the Sunny, points forward, and declares to set sail for the next adventure.

Probably. I just have a hard time imagining the series wrapping up in any other way than an "And the adventure continues!" sort of manner. Not like Luffy will just retire to a small house in the village or something, he's gonna want to go out and experience his true freedom as the King of the Pirates.
And that’s what I’m thinking: Luffy announces what his real dream is, and sets off to make that happen in a world where he’s Pirate King, a world that’s completely changed (I assume this is after Imu, tge Gorosei, the Celestial Dragons, and all they built are out of the picture completely, which is usually how Luffy goes about taking out the major villains).

So was Big Mom the ships whore? Cause she would have had like ten kids at this point.
i have always wondered if she even knows what sex is or if shes just copying what she saw stussy or someone else doing only to realize when she does that people are super nice and give het tons of food. so she just keeps doing it.

Going back to the political thing a bit. I hate when people say that the message of One Piece is just "racism bad" as if the entire story revolves around that. A majority of arcs have nothing to do with race at all.

Remember how one of the messages of an arc was "You should not hurt people good people purely for belonging in a group that is largely evil"? I remember that. It is how we got Doflamingo.

if anything the message is rich people bad but even then i cant help but wonder if everyone is being manipulated in the end even the elders and the celestial dragons.

Not even that because there are plenty of super wealthy monarchs that are good people. It's a mistake to try to and find one big political message that the franchise encompasses.
I can point to a couple of CDs that are good people too. And let us not forget that the God Knights are supposed to kill the kind CDs anyway.

Most I’ve seen is things like “censorship is bad”, how “personal freedom is a good thing that must be fought for”, and that “authoritarian government is dangerous because of the lengths they will go to in order to hold onto absolute power”.

Pretty universal stuff.

I always felt like Luffy's dream is self serving but not in a maliciously selfish way. He wants people to have the freedom to relax and eat like he does without the obligation or under the rule of someone. The title of the Pirate King is seen as the ultimate freedom outside of a government so it aligns with what he truly wants which is just a world free for peolpe to chase the dreams they want.

And I guess Koby will work to stop that as the new head of the Marines since there seems to be some real “order vs chaos” thing going on. The Gorosei in their first meeting did say they were concerned about the state of the world after all.
