Dammit Luffy lol.

I’d call that wasted potential, but I’m not sure if there was any potential to begin with.
Not really? The kind of SHs that would be willing to follow the WG are not the ones who are obsessed with freedom and adventure. They would have to be different people to the point it would be pointless to compare. Robin would NEVER have joined and neither would Franky. If we are to commit to the bit and have them be LOYAL Marines then both Robin and Franky would be captured by them.

Honestly, it may be fun to see how far the what if/start at the beginning story goes before the wheels fall off.
The wheels in this case are purely hypothetical in most of them. One Piece is way too tight as a continuity/story/concept for the bigger What ifs to work long term. Either make an "Off-Brand" and get on with it or learn how to pull off an original work. I remember the Elseworlds of DC and What ifs of Marvel. Either they ended up in the same place as the originals, which in my opinion defeats the purpose or they lasted for very few issues. Or both.

Dammit Luffy lol.
There was also the part where when asked about of things go bad, Luffy had the thick headed response of “I’m gonna beat him up” that’d be something Goku would say.

Also, I’m pretty sure Loki is dead, probably just to keep Loki from telling Luffy about Shamrock (And learning about the God’s Knights as well) because Oda really wants Luffy to focus on the idea of Shanks not being as idealistic as Luffy makes him out to be.

On the other hand, I have to also consider Loki somehow living just so we know why exactly Loki being chained up is seen as good after Luffy frees him and gets called a complete idiot. Which…he is.

Oda's hyped up Loki for about a decade or so at this point, and we need to learn what Devil Fruit he had that he's proclaiming to be the sun god. If Loki's going to die, it's either at the end of the arc, or he'll die in the final battle.

I think that Loki is alive. He is chained with powerful chains that can absorb some of the damage (since he saw the attack coming, he could have moved in such a way as to have them take the brunt of the damage and then played dead) and has a giant's biology that makes him more durable.

They aren’t killing a dude that was planned as far back as Loki was off screen. A lot of the important players obviously came up after Loki was planned. If he is getting killed it is to Blackbeard or someone else obviously planned at the start of the story.

TBH, I think the best way to do it is to just lean into the stuff that hasn’t been shown or explained (what made Roger laugh, who Imu really is, what Pluton and Uranus look like, what Joy Boy looks like, Joy Boy’s broken promise, the name of the great kingdom, the final war, what “D” means, the final war, the treasure, Luffy’s real dream, the dawn of the world, Zoro actually fighting Mihawk, the list goes on).

If you just hint at the bigger lore and meta earlier than when Oda introduces those things, or build on what was shown in canon so it’s more than what Oda hints at because Luffy doesn’t play a part of that yet, then you could have something. Just go for broke.

Well, if they had that kind of imagination, they would be making original works and not fanfics. How many works begin as fanfics of another only to use it as a jumping off point for their own original work? Just look at the Bleach successors: they start with a similar premise, tweak it a bit more and make something new. The problem is that many fanfic writers are hacks.

Seeing footage of the seldom-seen big-eye jellyhead octopus makes me headcanon this is how Imu would totally actually move since it looks like walking is literally alien to him.
I think the imagery is hilarious, leave me alone.

I will forever be entertained that 50 Shades of Grey was Twilight Fanfic.

And in fairness, many of the Manga clearly inspired by the big three are awful.

When One Piece finishes it is going to be very interesting because nothing has come thag can even hope to replace it.

Indeed. For everything people say that’s bad about the old big hitters they stuck their endings. Probably because they couldn’t do what is done now and fix the ending in the volume release.
Well Bleach and Naruto didn't have the ability to do that either, but their endings are still better than Attack on Titan.

Depends? The Bleach successors brute forced themselves into success with human wave tactics. There were so many of them, that some managed to find success, namely the Dark Trio that consists of BC, CM and JJK. Outside of that, DS also found great success (great does not begin to cover it as it feels like an understatement) and Kagurabachi looks set to carry on the legacy pretty well.

The Naruto successors leaned to their other influences more as Naruto had lost so much of its identity by the end that it had nothing to pass on. MHA was more of a Western comic book like what you would see on image like Invincible or Marvel 's Spiderman and Ichi the Witch has a protagonist that almost feels like an Anti-Naruto if you take into account how upbeat, competent and unburdened he is as a character.

One Piece, on the other hand, cannot have successors. Not because of how good it is but because of how complicated it would be to be its successor. Most stories would just stick to one premise as opposed to the tens of premises One Piece manages to juggle all at once. Fairy Tail tried ripping it off and in my opinion failed despite its success. It never became something more and the worldbuilding feels lazy in comparison. Series like this would either carve their own identity early enough for its lineage to not be immediately obvious as One Piece is really hard to pin down anyway OR end up being obvious in their attempt to leech of One Piece and have to crank up the fanservice to the point the viewers do not care about the plot anymore.

Not in terms of impact or memorability which is what I was talking about.
Dragon Ball was the West's first true experience with anime. Considering that, unleash my mind erasing machine is a success, nothing in this medium can have the same impact.

That is not helped by 2/3 of the big three being awful by the end.

Bleach is getting its "Definitive Edition" through the anime. Kubo was sick back when he was writing TYBW. AoT was better on the anime IIRC and Naruto... Ok, you got me there.

At least Bleach was able to get Thousand Year Blood War arc into an anime.
And it is GREAT! I look forward to Cour 4 and I am crossing my fingers for CFYOW being animated and the Hell arc being made.
