my theory is that that disease is similar to the one that killed laws village and almost got law as well. which is another reason for the celestial dragons to live up high to avoid getting all the sicknesses that are spreading around due to the experiments done by saturn or whoever else.

Oda has been setting up clone shit for a while now, so I expect that to come up at a certain point. Either because Shanks is a clone, the other Shanks is a clone, they are both clones or nobody is a clone and it's just "family". Though if it's the last case, we still have the question of why in hell was baby Shanks just chilling in a chest.
You have to wonder if The One Piece or the treasure of Mary Geoise is the method and/or recording of the rules of doing said cloning. It’s probably the latter if it’s some kind of magic, and the former if it relates to science, considering the great kingdom was said to be super technologically advanced.
