Bonnie is basically imitating Luffy. The longer she observes him, the more powerful she should become.

If I may let the comic book nerd in me come out for just a second . .

All the gear forms, and especially gear 5, take a heavy physical toll on Luffy. He's only able to maintain gear 5 for a short period of time before needing to eat. It is unknown if Bonnie has the same limitation. Bonnie is seemingly able to maintain her future forms indefinitely, as evidenced by the fact that she runs around in her 20-something year old form. That said, she is called "The Glutton" so maybe she needs to eat to maintain her form. But the possibility exists that with her years of experience holding future forms for long periods of time, she may be able to hold her Nika form longer than Luffy.
I always had a feeling there was a connection between her appetite and her powers, kind of like Tsunade from Naruto

As for the Gorosei, I’m still thinking that this is just teasing their true power and skills. We’ll see the true extent in the grand finale .
Could be, but as of now, I don't feel "primordial threat" like with Crocodile, Mingo, Big Mom or Kaido. Hell, Zoro hasn't even put his bandana on.
i do think that revealing every single one of them was a mistake and i would have liked it more if only one or two showed up on egghead as more of a teaser for the rest of them.
Agreed, Saturn and Birdman should have been more than enough to get a taste.
i think this is going to be one of those things that looks better in the anime. the gorosei are also still a threat considering none of them have been actually taken out yet at most luffy is able to hurt them but not much.
They haven't caused any real damage either yet which is the real problem. Crocodile skewered Luffy, Mingo fucking wrecked Law which was seen as obscene at that point, Big Mom maybe didn't have that same "I completely fucked somebody plot relevant" outside of Brook but just the power of her officers, her ability to steal life and how fucking unstopable she seemed during her hunger pang made her feel primordial. Kaido batted Luffy straight to his prison and then killed him once.

Saturn killed Vegapunk and... that's it, for fucks sake, Guard point was able to defend against him, if fucking guard point works against you, you aren't that threatening.

Basically, the only thing that makes the Gorosei threatening is that the seem functionally immortal, so any attrition war seems theirs to win. But they definitely do not feel like something an emperor can't take out or an alliance from the stronger ex shikibukai or worst generation once they figure a way to contain/imprison them.
Bonnie is seemingly able to maintain her future forms indefinitely,
Didn't she say a few chapters ago that distorted future takes a lot out of her which is when she goes gorilla mode? Nika just seems like another form of distorted future to me, or at least I hope she has limited use. Toon world physics is already stupid powerful. I can only shudder what a hyper 12 year old can achieve in that mode if she can keep it going indefinitely.

I seen people call her a Mary Sue, but honestly I have no idea why, because so far her time on Egghead she's been more of a damsel in distress usually relying on being saved outside a few Vice Admirals she defeated by turning them into children, which isn't an achievement into itself because VA's vary on threat level to where even Franky took out one in one hit. Either people have horrifically short term memory, are purposely disingenuous, or are aliases or under the influence of the notorious Spee D Reader.
So far Bonney has;
1) been saved by Straw Hats while frozen in the middle of the ocean
2) instant ko'd by the sight of a swarm of bugs
3) swatted away by Kizaru with one hit
4) saved from her fall from Sentomaru
5) no damage to Saint Saturn and held in his grip
6) Kuma saves her
7) Vegapunk saves her by telling her he programmed the bots to obey her
8 ) Sanji saves her
We'll see how the next chapter pans out on how she utilizes her Gear 5th imitation, but way too many people are treating Luffy's gears as if they're Super Saiyan powerups, which they aren't nor are the strength of Devil Fruits tied to exclusively to power levels - which haki isn't because its meant to be fueled by willpower/determination - and more so ones personal skills or imagination like Law being a Surgeon or Kanjuro being an artist that dictate how effective their own DF is. Bonney has a very versatile devil fruit which is fueled by her child like mind, stories of Nika told to her by her father Kuma and witnessing Luffy in action during the latter portion of this arc.
Part of me thinks this is due to the influx of newer fans who don't really get the comedy/tragedy aspect of One Piece, where a dark depressive past event is inevitably followed by Luffy bringing lighthearted retribution and ending it with celebration in the form of a feast. Most major arcs/sagas follow this motif. Maybe them getting into the manga/anime between Dressrosa/Wano Gear 4th era poisoned their mind.

TBH, a lot of the gear powerups when they first appear come in pivotal moments, like when Goku first went SSJ against Frieza because of the death of Krillin, or Gohan achieved SSJ against Cell when Android 16 died in front of him to the tune of Unmei no Hi. And now we’ve got Gear 5 being treated like Super Saiyan God or Ultra Instinct Goku (at least when it came to the shock of the audience it first appeared).

I get the formula, but honestly, I’d also argue that the story (and maybe even Oda himself) have really put in a mindset that “playtime is over”, considering how this is “the final saga” and we’ve got guys like Cross Guild and Shanks making moves for The One Piece, meaning that they’ll be on a collision course with Luffy and his crew, and we’ve gotten tons of stuff like the Gorosei and Imu having powers of their own which they have no issues of using when they aren’t just sitting around and talking.

Honestly, I’d say that the fandoms in Japan and The West have different things they care about and want to see when it comes to things like DBZ and One Piece.

Might just be people fed up of how much Luffy's been dominating all the fights against powerscaling pinatas like the Gorosei and vice-admiralty, and are angry at how there's now two Nikas to go hogging all the fights, while the other Strawhats are backbenching and Kuma and Kizaru are out of the fight without getting a fair enough shake.

i am fine with luffy dominating fights my only issue is how weak it makes everyone else look in comparison. i get that not everyone can be a main character and all that but with how strong luffy has gotten its like sabody all over again.

im hoping whatever happens after egghead results in some major upgrades for everyone because right now someone like blackbeard or imu could take out pretty much every strawhat instantly.

Luffy did not dominate the Gorosei. He barely got away while they regenerated from all the things he threw at them. Ju Peter survived decapitation. Luffy needs Gear 5 not to dominate the Gorosei but to even survive them.

I think lots of people are tired of folks getting shafted. First it was only the monster trio getting stuff, and now it only looks like Zoro and Luffy are getting things to make hype moments, probably because Zoro actually has to fight somebody to achieve his dream so he needs all the cool skills, and Luffy has been increasingly positioned to be this character of destiny.

The only thing about Gear 5 is that with all the stuff about Nika and Joy Boy and the previous stuff about incarnations and the World Government, I’m just hoping that we don’t go up to something like a Gear 6, considering that 5 is looking more like Luffy’s base form when it comes to fighting. We could go from Super Saiyan God to Ultra Instinct. And possibly beyond.

I think a lot of it is also popularity, Zoro is always up in the polls often even beating Luffy. Oda is already on record of giving Law a bigger part in the story due his popularity with fans.

I meant dominating in the "sponging up screentime" sense, not the "winning fights" sense.
Some arcs are more Luffy-centric. Some arcs are not. Luffy is the protagonist so on average, he will be more often the center of the arcs. Considering this arc has to do with the Mystery of D. and Joy Boy, it is justified. Luffy has always something big to do with the narrative even on arcs that do not revolve around him.

There's a point where you start wanting him to not take up so much of the fighting, though. Kizaru shouldn't have gone down to Luffy and denied Sanji the chance at a proper fight with him, and the Strawhats should be giving the Gorosei a lot more of a beating than "none at all". Remember Whole Cake, where Big Mom had jumped onto the Sunny and the diminished crew had to fight her off of it without Luffy or Sanji to fall back on?

I have to wonder if the non monster trio SHs will get something to have a power boost on Laugh Tale. Or if there’s going to be another time skip to train. Or there’s a room of space and time on Laugh Tale.

But honestly, I find that the other Straw Hats have to hope that things are like Wano, where the villain has a bunch of minions for them to fight, because the main threat is for Luffy to beat in order to increase his reputation and build onto the bigger conflict. So I’d say guys like Usopp and Franky will get more stuff against forces like Shanks and Blackbeard.

To be fair, Frankly beat a Tobbi Ropo who are the still in the top 10 of the Animal Kingdom Pirates right after the All Stars, So Frankly, Robin and Jimbe already have proven themselves effectively in the top tiers of the setting just with that fact.

Chopper, Nami and Usopp are the 3 that actually need to prove they are worthy of being on the King's crew ATM..but at least Chopper Stood Toe to Toe with Queen for a bit and if he ever got a proper fight I think he would at least do well enough all he really needs is some amount of Observation Haki so he can cheat on which form he needs to be in and he could have a real cool fight.

Usopp's dad is in Shank's crew, I bet his moment will be when they finally meet again.

I always thought that he needed to stop doubting himself and realize all the cool shit he’s actually done and how he needs to stop selling himself short. At least he’s looking to go to Elbaf like he’s always wanted.

Elbaf is probably gonna be where Usopp gets his final upgrades and doodads.
However, I am pretty convinced that Usopp will gain Observation Haki in his battle against Van Augur.
