Yeah I get that, I knew something like this would happen and the multiple breaks inbetween this exposition dumps it really does rub salt in the wounds. At least there's a chapter next week though.
Honestly, I’d say the part that gets me is that we have basically what happened to Professor Clover again, when you could have easily done it in a way where you don’t feel like Oda is just trolling the theorists who think that this would lead to confirmation, while possibly also giving a middle finger to them, before having to calm yourself down by telling yourself that these theorists aren’t the folks Oda is trying to entertain.

But as it stands, I just feel like the previous chapters are the only thing keeping Vegapunk’s broadcast from being a complete waste of time.

Again, I’m just going with my alternative take: Vegapunk tells the D individuals that he doesn’t have the answer to what that initial means/stands for, but the answer lies with completing the journey Roger made. And Vegapunk ends his broadcast moments after that last statement, and the Gorosei, and Imu, are left seething and hoping that there isn’t a reaction akin to Whitebeard’s words at Marineford. Still stringing along, but not done in a way where you feel Oda is trying to get one on those who think they have the answers.

This has never happened in any piece of media ever without the transmission getting cut off. I'm surprised he said as much as he did.
Yes, but it’s way that it was cut off that gets me. It feels like artificial prolonging and a panic move that people are catching on earlier than Oda wants them to.

This is happening so the Straw Hats have a chance to GTFO of Egghead with everyone. The robot will most likely get demolished, and who knows if Vegapunk's speech will resume.

but also can't deny the hype over the final saga has been out of this world.
LOL.

LMAO, even

That "final saga" still has steam for 5 years easilly. I'm expecting a very chunky Joyboy flashback that could go from half a year to a year depending on Oda's schedule. We also have to cover Elbaf, anything that happens there, the island before Laugh Tale, figuring out how to actually get to Laugh Tale (we are still missing a road Glyph which if we are lucky is in Elbaf) and the final clusterfuck with Shanks, Black Beard, the Gorosei, Marines, Sword and Cross Guild. Oh, and most important of all, Foxy making a comeback and becoming the true Pirate King after getting Buggy to join his crew in a Davey Back Fight! We got shit for a while.
Well that robot was a disappointment now wasnt it? Thing was hyped up for almost the entire arc only to do nothing but walk around a bit and getting one-tapped by TOPman. Makes me kinda feel empty now.
I think robo max is flashback fodder. Will probably take a beating now and either be the start of the Joyboy flashback or get fucked yet do something cool enough for the others to notice and then some storyteller in Elbaf goes into the Joyboy flashback when asked.
Next Chapter: The 12 chapter Foxy flashback begins.
12 chapter? That's pussy numbers! Foxy has to become the new head of the Cross Guild!

I think it's safe to assume that the transmission is done with. Also, pretty much comfirms Vegapunk is dead, about to die or in a coma, can't have somebody that knows the secret of D just chilling at this point in time, specially when he is very willing to share.

I kind of approve of the fact that the first few panels are pirates whose reaction to the old civilisations having been flooded going "wait, couldn't we go down there and loot them? With those underwater ships? And maybe bang some mermaids while we're at it!" It's very setting apt that there are people out there whose reaction to the world slowly sinking is to realise the opportunity for booty. And treasure.

It's likely the other satellites know about it, York was the only one (that we know of) who didn't know that Vegapunk was recording a message in preparation of his inevitable demise. She's also practically going to die simply for being a Vegapunk, something she clearly isn't going to expect due to her greed blinding her.

Well shit, got me there. I was expecting Lilith to survive (nice tranny name there incelpunk), but she either will get tapped out along with Atlas then or conveniently not know. I simply cannot imagine something as big as the story of D to just be dumped by a Stella.

@ShitLurker As cool as a Joy Boy flashback would be, I still think we're setting it up for everything to come together at Laugh Tale, so we got the broadcast cut off. And then we have to deal with Luffy's true dream, Zoro vs Mihawk, and the great battle Whitebeard talked about. Also, the point of the broadcast was that Vegapunk made it happen the minute his heart stopped beating. He's dead. And I thought a guy as smart as he was would have the foresight that someone, let alone an authoritarian government, would be hellbent on stopping what he's doing so he'd make precautions. Apparently, he didn't.

That just shows why the way this chapter ended is so aggravating.

Considering that the Kaido saga which I consider to be Punk Hazard to Wano lasted from 2012 to 2022, I think we might go a year or two past 2030 depending on how fast Oda wants to get it over with.
It just depends on how much detail Oda wants to get into. I'd say a nearly whole year alone is dedicated to just establishing the new island and the people that live there before we introduce the villains and have our backstory of the month, and then we end with a couple of months of just showing the reactions to what Luffy and his friends have done and then speedrunning all the things the other characters are doing because Luffy and company have taken most of the focus. So ending this series in this decade might be lowballing it.

Definitely, 5 years is being optimistic. But Oda is almost 50 and knowing how the standard mangaka lifestyle is, one wonders if he can last to his 60s to do the whole thing. But...

There is a lot of shit to still cover.

We already lost mugi individual battles slashed for the most part in the series due to stepping up the speed, though that saved time has instead gone into adding too many secondary characters and fleshing stuff out. I'm at Punk Hazard right now while rereading, so I may have a change of opinion once I hit Wano, but unlike Alabasta where I was very invested, I just had a horribly hard time giving a shit about Wano, the Scabbards, the Yakuza and everybody else in that conflict.

If he starts just speed running everything, I hope we at least get a proper payoff from the Cross Guild since that seems like the thread likeliest to get axed.

@ShitLurker if anything from Cross Guild were to happen, it’d be just Mihawk fighting Zoro so the “greatest swordsman in the world” thing is finally settled. That’s the big aspect of those three.

As for scrapping to get to the end, I’m not sure what else can be scrapped since you could argue that as of now, there isn’t much on the to do list that isn’t related to the endgame or reaching the treasure, and any fights would just relate to where the characters are instead of the massive shifting and recruiting needed to get the forces and strength necessary to fight somebody like Kaido, or having to deal with the machinations of the world and its structure, which led to Punk Hazard and Dressrosa going on for as long as they did, nor do we have to have a detour over a character potentially leaving the crew like Sanji and Whole Cake vs Big Mom. M

Instead, we just have whatever comes at a new island, where the question becomes if you actually get to do something cool if you’re not part of the Monster Trio (or Monster Duo if you ask a Sanji fan). So if anything does go, it’s a fight against one of the villain’s many minions.

After that, you have the endgame stuff of Laugh Tale, along with coming across and fighting the likes of Blackbeard, Mihawk, and Shanks.

Yoooooooo is it true? Gin and Don Krieg were seen in the newest chapter??

Evil but with honor is what I would use to describe Gin. How did a man like him end up serving Krieg of all people?
I think the Baratie Arc was a very rare time of him not being ruthless, Kriegs Underlings say things that imply that Gin is absolutely capable of fighting Dirty in the majority of situations.

How did a bounty hunter end up being First Mate to a Pirate King Contender? How did a pair of Warlords end up working under a former member of Roger's crew? How did a long list of people end up working for the Marines?

One Piece has a lot of odd alliances and we still do not have everything about them all. I assume this is one of those and we may get info before the end. Or Mihawk will once again sink their battleship, only this time it will be mid-flashback.

two years is a long time, I think it would be cool if Gin could hang with Hawk-eye long enough for Mihawk to respect him enough to break out the big sword.

Gin is also implied to be stronger than Krieg (though both were injured at the time, Gin was poisoned as well and yet he knocked Krieg out implying he only sticks around out of loyalty). Gin is too good for Krieg (and no, Mihawk and Crocodile are not Buggy 's subordinates. They just pretend they are).
