I almost expect Imu to explain himself only for Luffy to call him an idiot and give a solution that’s so simple and yet so stupid that Imu never thought about it.

Only for Blackbeard to kill Imu just as everything is being reconciled.
I highly doubt Blackbeard would kill Imu, since I’m more banking on him being taken out as the last hurdle (or one of the last) before Luffy becomes pirate king.

Also, whatever dream Imu has, Luffy will just destroy that since that’s what Luffy does when he takes down a villain.

Kaido says otherwise. Kaido got exactly what he wanted. I expect Shanks and Blackbeard and Buggy will as well in their defeat.

Enel, in the arc that is known to have all the foreshadowing for the end of the series, straight up got his dream and sailed off into space to rule over his own planet as God.

Heck, Joy Boy’s fruit has even been shown to reactivate robots…

I think Imu somehow gets out of all this.

I highly doubt Imu is being made sympathetic. Nothing has been shown to suggest that.
It took years before Doflamingo was shown to have a twinge of being a sympathetic villain. He's still absolutely despicable and deserved his defeat, but you cannot doubt that he went through some shit no kid deserved to go through.

Imu is going to have a tragic backstory for sure, it's practically the law in the world of One Piece.

Yeah. It was straight up ‘oh, i get it, that’s depressing, you did not deserve that…still punching you though cause you’ve been a dick even If I totally understand why’

So was watching the latest Joy Boy Theories vid and one of the comments hit on something.

Imu is trapped. Imu is not free. The Nika Fruit was created by Imu’s wish to be free.
I think the Straw Hat Imu has is literally either Joy Boy’s hat and Imu at some point was offered to join his crew or betrayed Joy Boy. The entire thing is that Imu didn’t choose adventure and basically is stuck doing something it hates to the point of doing atrocities due to needing to justify its choice.

Imu wants to be free, but also wants to ignore the choices he or she made. It’s why the Gorosei and Imu are fearful of Joyboy. My bet is that Imu and the Gorosei aren’t on the entirely same page, Imu has absolute power, but probably doesn’t care for it.

So basically, Imu is this:

I still have my doubts because Imu didn’t have much reluctance in doing things like literally wiping Lulusia off the map.

Basically it’s a mix of obligation, hating your job, boredom, and regret. My guess is it’s not simple motivation, but thousands of years trying to justify you bullshit has driven him/ her mad if not already during the Void Century.

I could see Imu have some twist where he/her finally achieved their dream of ultimate power but has effectively become paralyzed by the fear of losing that power and the dream ending. So now he/she just sits there alone at the top of the world lashing out at any threat real or imagined.

Existing as a possible dark ending for acheiving your dream.

I guess so. One thing I've heard is that the reason Luffy and Blackbeard are such an issue is that they're bucking the status quo, maybe like Roger did, and they can't be tamed by the structure the World Government uses through things like Warlords or Yonko.

Yeah, I'm seeing it.
All throughout we've been seeing guys who want the title of king for the power that comes with it, as well as Luffy's/Roger's rebuttal that "the king is simply the freest man on the sea,"
what better for a final boss than one who has achieved that dream of power and title, and found it wanting because they didn't understand?

While looking, I saw somebody say that the treasure should be treated like the briefcase from Pulp Fiction.

Went back and reread chapter 1110, just wanted to say that these scenes:
one piece five elders beasts.jpg
one piece five elders beasts 2.jpg

Are incredible. Love the designs on these guys in their beast forms, looking forward to their respective fights..

TCB scans might be in trouble now. I hit the bookmark I had on the ribbon below my URL bar for chapter 1111 and the page 525'd. After a Google search, there's a backup mirror for the site but who knows how long that will stay up. Would anyone be willing to help me plug the URLs of the backup into archive.ph? From the moment of this post, I've done chapters 1-17 and the chapter list and so far, the chapters are archiving properly.

1111 chapters is a lot for one person to do. The last time I took on archiving something on a multiple hundred page scale was Vic Mignogna's prettyuglylittleliar board before that site went back down for good. I'd appreciate any help to make this faster.

Edit: 1-65 done. Off to sleep.

TCB is fine and still up
Well that was awfully dismissive. tcbscans.com redirects now to tcbbackup.banglagan.in. Some recent links to new chapters I've shared in this thread used tcb.abhayaby.com URLs but these now 525. I'm not the only person noticing issues.

If you Google search "tcbscans," you get a bunch of US Digital Millennium Copyright Act complaints. TCB4.png

Here's an excerpt from one:

How about another?

tcbscans.org. And another:

tcbscans.com, ww1.tcbscans.org and tcbscans.net in this one. Now some of these complaints are probably a little older but it's clear that tcbscans is on Viz Media's radar. So yeah, you're right. It's still up... until it isn't. I'm just trying to make it harder for Viz to play their game of whack-a-mole.

If they have one backup they have others as well. Until they jail the people doing the translations you’ll have your scans.

The scans have been uploaded to multiple places across the web already, I don’t think you need to put in the effort. Other people already have.
