Probably just sloppiness all around. I mean, we came back to Egghead with Lucci and Kaku inexplicably NOT bound up like the Seraphim, abusing said freedom by sending inside information to the Marine blockade, and once the action starts up he immediately tries to make with the killing again and incapacitates Stussy for the remainder of the arc. Plus we still don't know either how he got in contact with the blockade or how he managed to get through Sentomaru's guard.

This is why I think he stayed with the Marines, Gol told him while they were talking about Garp raising Ace and Garp was gonna have Ace and Luffy become Admirals and use the Marines to overthrow Imu and the Dragons.

About what you said about the fruit not killing it’s choosen user.

I think an argument could be made that it could and it would be a positive.

We know Luffy will smile when he’s going to die. We also know the only way he’s going to go out if he goes out is on his own terms. So he’ll be happy with it. And then the dreams and the will get to continue on. The story continues. There’s always more to see and do etc etc.

That could be why the life gets shorter - eventually the will of the fruit wants the freedom to move to another person.

I think we are going to end up having that issue of holder of fruit wants or needs to stay alive but the fruit wants more freedom.

I think that’s why the immortalty stuff might have even been used in the first place.

By the end of the series since a new world will have been created via the red line going down I think we won’t have to deal with Luffy dying because the fruit won’t want to leave and as far as we are concerned Chooper will have cured Luffy. So we won’t ever see him die.

The issue I have with this is that we know the Fruit can manipulate things even without having a body seeing as the 5 Elders stated that it would slip through their fingers, and that it is very plausible that the fruit chose Luffy to be it's holder.

If fruits are created from "the hopes and wishes of people" I don't think a "God of Freedom who brings joy and laughs" would be the sort of thing that would cause it's user to die early given that it put itself in position for Luffy to "accidentally eat". It would be a very "Anti-Freedom" move to kill the user that it tricked into eating it.

Whatever else happens in the Meta plot..I think the finale of One Piece will be Luffy looking at the crew and saying "Okay we got everything we wanted...BROOK LETS GO SEE LABOON! NAMI, JIMBE..FRANKY..LETS CROSS THE CALM BELT!" or something akin to it..kind of like how Skypeia ended. With a 50/50 Shot of him telling Sabo "VIVI SAID YOU WERE HANDSOME TROLLLOLOLOL" on the way out.


Edit : You know watching Today's episode it occurred to me that the Twitter Troons haven't claimed Vegapunk is some Non-binary faggot because 2 of his bodies are female.

There is an undeniable fact that backlash from Gear 5 turns Luffy into a shriveled old man. It is not unreasonable to believe that by this point this is actually his "real" appearance, which surfaces when he exhausts his fruit power.

As for freedom 'n sheit, it is incompatible with Luffy being the prophecied prince of the world with the best patrons and the best fruit, destined to bring down the evil usurpers, to start with. Oda is just using poswords to distract readers from questioning Luffy's own agency or lack thereof.

But as for whether Luffy is going to die... No. He will be cured through some sort of handwavium, and there are several possibilities hinted already. Even if we weren't speaking about Oda, MC of a flagship Shonen Jump series simply is not going to die at the end.

I do wanna note the first time this happened was a punchline to Kaido saying Luffy was tired and Luffy responding with "Nah I am good" It happens yes but Luffy seems to recover from it pretty fast and goes from tired to raring to go just from eating. I would like to say this kind of joke happens in Comedy Animations from time to time but I can't fucking think of one, but it's been a long time since I watched Tom and Jerry or Looney Toons.

I don't think this is at all true, If it were all predestined I don't think Gol would have stated that he intends on "His unborn son" being the one to do it. In my opinion Oden's words about "20 Years from now" is less about a specific person and more that "The next Generation that come after Roger will be the ones to bring a new Dawn." and really if Luffy finds out that everything was predestined he would call everyone a Nigger Faggot and walk away right then and there.

To be fair..it's not like the WG thought the Straw Hats would show up, The only issue that would have cropped up if Lucci just showed up and Yeeted Vegapunk was the dead-man switch activating.
