My issue is that the Marine’s as an organization literally just do the bidding of the WG. They keep the peace by slaughtering anyone who would rock the boat. They were doing the Genocide Hunts since before Kuma was born and encourage slavery.

What I wonder is just how much of the truth does he know? I imagine that if a pre-recorded message is firing off, then Vegapunk is dead now and that triggered a killswitch.

Tashigi and Smoker being a hero would be cool. I always liked them a lot even though they really don't do a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure Vegapunk's message will end up swaying some of the less diehard marines so it's not impossible.

Oh definitely Vegapunk had put in a few fail-safes to ensure that no matter what happens to him, his research won't be for naught. I hate that he had to die (though I was always on the "Lilith is our next Straw Hat" train), but he is a genius. This must be the event that shocked the world that has been hinted about for a while now. Like if Ace's execution and Whitebeard's declaration was broadcast to the world to reignite the pirate era, no doubt Vegapunk sending a transmission to whoever would listen would kickstart a new era that would actually threaten the World Government, who're totally run by a bunch of morons to have not seen this coming.

That being said, Saturn's definitely on autopilot right now, and it's absolutely terrifying to look at. He's either letting this Mythical Zoan (if it's a Devil Fruit) take over, or he was always a demon who could go into a rage when pushed to his limits. Either way, I'm extremely unnerved by it and I hope Luffy gets a few more good punches in before they escape.

Also would this make it the third time Luffy comes into contact with poison? His lifespan just keeps getting halved. Fucking hell he's going to die at the end of the story, isn't he.

Surely he's developed some sorta princess bride tier resistance by now, especially in big mode.

I very much doubt that Luffy is going to die by the end of the story, Given that what Luffy's fruit and Gears are have been recontextualized a bit I would ignore Lucci's comment about Gear 2 shaving off lifespan. I doubt that a "God of Freedom who brings smiles to faces" would extract that sort of price out of it's chosen user.

However I 1000000% believe that Luffy is gonna play dead at the end because it would be a massive troll to the other Strawhats.

Good on Vegapunk for using his likely last bit of life to dunk on the World Government. Semper Fi Weird Big Brain 8 Body man, you will Join Roger, Hiriluk and Newgate in the Pantheon of people who go out like motherfucking chads.

I am actually starting to get convinced that the 5 Big Boys and Imu might actually have a serious blindspot when it comes to people being willing to sacrifice their lives for something greather than themselves.
 
Seeing full(?)-demon Saturn makes me wonder just how Lovecraft the throne room Sabo and Cobra were in actually was. It makes Sabo's nonchalance during the moment cooler in retrospect.

Reiju just told Tashigi: “Spaghetti is always straight until it’s wet.” My headcanon is that Reiju is flirty when she’s tipsy. And has no filter when she’s wasted.
 
What happens to the satellites when Vegapunk dies? They’re him, but also kinda not? Shaka died, but I’m not sure what death is to them.

His brain is stored on the island so will his fruit go back into rotation? Does his body actually matter anymore? I like to think that his physical body is meaningless due to the apple thing.

I think they operate on Multiplicity rules. Each one is independent of the others with their own unique identity and specialization. They're smart because they're clones of Dr. Vegapunk, but don't benefit from his Devil Fruit Abilities. So when he dies, they will lose access to his wealth of knowledge, but still be incredibly smart and resourceful in their own right.
