I feel like something Rubberhose styled (like old cartoons that Gear 5 is based off, & Cuphead) would be great. But something in style of Genndy Tartakovsky would be kino too. That, or we get Tom Warburton (Codename: Kids Next Door), who even appeared in Shonen Jump with a One Piece fan-art (Issue #8, September 2011).
I think the idea they are going to go for is Juxtaposing the absolute sillyness of Gear 5 with the actual seriousness of what it means for the setting.
Because they gave it an open mouth, something the original never had. I don't know who thought that was a good idea.

I cannot understand the design choice. I know it could be argued it looks like it is laughing and that a mouth shut looks different. I'd have gone with mouth shut and smiling which would probably have looked even more menacing.
Because that's what Netflix wants to do to the source material?
