I thought Luffy was the reincarnation of Roger (because that is a theme in One Piece) but it looks like he's actually the reincarnation of Joy Boy
 
I like to think Luffy had to die to become Joy Boy. Thus meaning that if Luffy had killed Kaido Kaido would be Joy Boy. Meaning CP0 just fucked themselves. And that both Kaido and Luffy could have been Joy Boy and it was just ‘luck’.

So I just finished reading chapter 1043.

Holy shit things are getting interesting. From what I can tell it looks likes Luffy is possessed by the spirit of Joy Boy. Either that or Joy Boy is a title given to someone who enters into a unique awakened state.

If the former, it'd be neat to see Joy-Luffy take on Kaido while actual Luffy travels through the spirit world. Luffy could even return with an army of spirits ti fight Kaido's crew.

And of course there's a break next week.
 
Pretty sure the correct read will be spirit posesion due to death.

Because Wano is just bigger thriller bark.

That frozen hat is probably rather large indeed.

I honestly think that the Title guess is probably right, A "FATE" storyline wouldn't fit Luffy's character, and Gol did say that he wanted his Kid(Ace) to follow in his footsteps and find Laugh Tale, so presumably He wanted Ace to be "Joy boy" which means it isn't just a reincarnation thing.

If the theory that Joy Boy had eaten the Gomu Gomu fruit is true, "Joy Boy" could be a title given to whoever awakens that particular fruit.
 
Could the whole "devil fruits contain demons!" thing actually be to cover up that devil fruits contain some degree of those who have consumed them before? Luffy's fruit is the first one outside of Ace's where a big deal is being made out of who had it previously and Ace's went to Sabo, where there is not much change in terms of the prior owner (rebelling against the World Government, wants to protect Luffy etc.)

If something is actually passed on between those who devoured the fruits that would explain why a fairly standard paramecia is actually of note.

It would feel like a bit of a retcon. Especially since I cannot see it getting much millage except in a fight against Blackbeard's crew.
 
Joy Boy is an anagaram for "Yoyo BJ" and it represents your ability to pleasure yourself. Luffy getting his head bonked into his groin allowed him to realize his true power.
 
It would help reason why Shanks kept the gum gum fruit so protected or valued. I still feel like that will be the twist to Shanks, no matter his good or bad allegiance, that he needed the gum gum fruit for something on Laugh Tale.

I don't think Shanks cares about Laugh Tale or One Piece, He either knows the secret and is just watching events unfold or just outright doesn't care because he doesn't want to follow directly in Gol's footsteps.

March 15th is when the second half of Zou in English dub comes out, so I got something to hold me over for this break.

Meanwhile, I’m watching the second half of Fishman Island. And I absolutely hate hearing the word “conch” pronounced incorrectly.

I’ve eaten conch my entire life. You say “Conk”

But that's different, the Roger was created by the World Government, and nobody knew about Joy Boy except for the pirates and WG, right? Unless of course it actually was more of the case for Laugh Tale

It'd be an interesting angle to explore, at least, since it's been established that Devil Fruit alters their consumer's DNA (the origin of Momonosuke's artificial fruit, the SMILEs being made from dumping random animal bloodline elements in a vat, the entire Pacifista project which is a bunch of Bartholomew Kuma copies with Kizaru's powers, etc) and it would I guess fit in with the whole "inherited will" thing that's been going on throughout the series. The only thing that stands out here is the side-effect of permanent smiles on people's faces....

I had to look this up because I was certain this was you being you. As it turns out, either one is correct, depending on where you are. Britfags and their commonwealth say con-ch, I'm sure quite a few people's reference for this was from how it was said on SpongeBob since not everyone lives off the coast, even the sex offenders that are Funimation. I had no idea of this until now.
