I agree, if moot was still there and banning people for being retards and for the lolse then maybe it wouldn't be such a shithole nowadays. People keep sperging about "m-muh free speech", but really that wasn't what it ever was about.

There were e-girls as early as 2000. Streaming wasn't really viable at that point, so they had 'streams' of constantly updating still images. Stile Project hosted many of them - it was where most of the early Suicide Girls were hired from.

Malice was one of the biggest names. She went on to be a neo-nazi and white separatist/supremacist (an actual one, not an 'everyone to the right of Mao is a Nazi' one), and, somehow, is today big in antifa.
 
I played online Tetris against moot a few times in 2002 or 2003 when some mutual friends invited him to our usual games. He was alright.

The same friends and I used to post on 2chan back around the same time. None of us could understand Japanese, but we found that if we posted the same image over and over again, Japanese users would eventually reply with similar images, so we used that to get the kind of images we wanted to see. My friends were SA forum goons, and I'm not positive about this, but I believe that one of them told me he was the person who introduced moot to 2chan.

Script kiddies (I wouldn't even count Bella as one....copying and pasting GitHub projects doesn't pass the hurdle) like Bella doesn't even register as any type of "hacker" in my line of work.

The whole thing is embarrassing and pretty ironic since her daddy sells a bunch of useless cybersecurity junk.
